If you don't know what a camper is (if you are on this site you prolly already do) they are players who will sit and hide in one place for extended periods of time in a multiplayer game. Now, I wanna know why people have sucha a problem dealing with them and why they always complain. If they stay in the same spot, chuck a grenade, that's what they are for. And if the person is sniping, of course they are going to camp, they gotta line up the shot, wait for a target, etc. This comes after a gaming session full of exploiters bitching about my happy sniper ass camping.

Snipers dont have to camp. I said this to some friends who play CoD4 on the 360 and they were shocked. They'd never even heard of running with snipers and quick-scoping. That style of play is a lot more fun that sitting in a corner with claymores 10 metres either side of you. Stops the whiners too.

You can't always throw a grenade because of where they are, it can be a place where it is always too late to kill them but I don't bother with them, I try remember where they are and avoid that area unless I know I can get them.

In Team fortress 2, they're called Engineers and Snipers. You learn to deal with it since you can hear sniper's speaking, or sentryguns beeping.

In any other game, Just go another way. If not, throw grenades. Many of them,

I don´t understand why people whine about it.If you stay in one spot the entire round, shouldn't it be easier to kill since the enemy always knows where you are and they could always just sneak up on you?

Honestly, I complain and ***** constantly about people doing things that I do too.

When people lose, they complain. No matter what.

I say Demoman is the most OP, fucking rediculously retarded class on earth and deserves to burn, but I still play as it sometimes.

If they're abusing a glitch, it's pretty cheap. But otherwise, they're just doing what works. There are no rules in war. In real life, snipers are almost obligated to "camping", cause that's what their job is, get the enemy from far distances without being discovered. And the best technique for that is to hide in a position that works. And most of the time, camping is due to bad level design. It's like people who complain about the running and stabbing technique in MW2 (a technique that I use frequently, and enjoying it), why not do it? It works.

Camping is for gamers that don't actually have the skill to dodge or engage other players. While a applaud their realization of this fact camping has made games like MW2 completely moronic as you can get 4 kills and then call in the predators and rack up the kills without even using a gun.

Camping is fun in Battlefield 2, since Snipers are impossible to find.

Unfortunately realistic as Battlefield is, kills can be hard to come by when you sit among the trees for hours. City levels are always easier because enemy snipers are easily found.

All in all, I think it's OK to be a camper (Probably because I'm one :). But, I dont take it to the extreme. I don't stand in one spot for 30 mins one shotting people all the time. I got to admit, I'm a good camper, but when I actually go running around I do really well as well. But, yea, other campers piss me off..

My view is simple. Camping is a completely legitimate tactic as long as there's another route. If there is only one chokepoint, and it is camped, then it becomes cheap.

But maybe i underestimate the problem. I play only Team Fortress 2, where you can always use an ubercharge.

As a strategic mind I can tell you this: camping is a legitimate strategy, but only when there is a strategic reason for them. Sure a lone sniper picking off people can have all round purposes but when there is an objective to be had, and they make no move towards archiving that objective, then even a good sniper is dead weight to the team! If the sniper is doing a good job and helping achieve an objective then the people can ***** for all I care.

Personally though I would prefer to have a non-linner map, sadly too many are static, so snipers become a little too overpowered if they are half way decent.

The only other problem I have is spawn camping, and I don't need to explain why that is bad... do I?

PS: reference was from Red vs Blue I believe.

Quick scoping with a Scout in CS:S is insanely fun. You can even do it in TF2, much more preferable to staying in one spot.

I actually like campers, because they stay in the same spot, you know where they are. It's like a free kill. :D

Campers arent that bad because eventually someone will find them. Also its the best option for snipers who arent good at no scoping or quick scoping (i can no scope, but i cant quick scope wierd huh)BUt then theres stupid people like a friend of mine who tries to no scope across the map

Me,i camp for a bit and when i know people are coming for me i wait for them, kill them and move somewhere else.

I know that is annoying for some and i know this when playing CTF and being killed while being 2 steps from the flag dropoff, and losing it to someone else, but it feels so rewarding getting that headshot on some child arsehole who doesn't know how to STFU.

The way I see it camping is only ok for a couple minutes AND only if it's in a fair spot.

I don't care how many people claim it is a legitamate stretegy, if you camp for most of the match it spots that are difficult to reach or avoid (i.e the fucking top of Rust in MW 2) you are a noob, no questions asked.

I admit, I camp sometimes but only in CTF if I'm guarding the flag or as the engineer in TF2 but there's no challenge in camping. I never camp for long.

Plus, most of the times people camp stay only in that spot, even after you've killed them about thirty times. It's a comfort thing.
