ive decided to come out the closet about being a camper. infact let me rephrase that, ive decided to stay inside the closet about being a camper, everyone knows us campers like to hide.

basically im a camper/ambusher, in blackops i have ghost pro with a silenced weapon, i hide somewhere plant a motion sensor, lure people into my sights with a decoy and shoot them like fish in a barrel. i then hide facing my original location and when they come back to get me they get a tomahawk in the back of thier head

this is camping at its worst it manipulates enemies and draws them into a trap ALTHOUGH camping is such a natural technique look at a mantis, a mantis will wait until its prey comes to it, likewise a spider sets up his web and awaits his prey. it works because its worked for millions of years. evolution is giving us campers a helping hand

just remember dont hate the player, hate the game ;)

I camp every once in a while.

It's a nice break from all the hectic run 'n gun.

I never really play multiplayer games, but I would be pretty frustrated if I took a few steps after re-spawning and got shot by the same guy. Once or twice it's okay, but after a while, I guess it would become very aggravating.

The question I have is why people hate campers, but are okay with snipers, when to me they honestly look to be about the same thing.

I don't hate campers... The best CoD players are campers, hands down.

CoD has ALWAYS encouraged camping...

I just prefer multiplayer games where you have to work with a team to achieve victory.

Well, when you play a game that you have to defend a static position, you have to camp by the game's very nature. Otherwise you aren't doing your bloody job!

And I love killing campers. Especially the ones that snipe. Just give them a knife and they have to learn to hide better or watch their backs.

Long story short, I have no real hate or love for camping and campers. I'm indifferent.

Because most players are 12 year old Rambo wannabe idiots that just want to aimlessly run around blasting everything in sight.

And when they're outsmarted by a player that understands even the most basic concepts behind strategy, they call it foil play and cheating.

Honestly, it reminds me a lot of how warfare use to be waged back before the 19th century back when soldiers dressed in ridiculously bright outfits and proudly stood in perfect single file lines taking buck shots at each other while the officers of both armies drank tea with each other in perfect view of the battle on top of some hill.

And when guerrilla tactics were concerned, it was considered unhonorable and ungentlemen like...lol

idiots!

when most people say they hate "campers" they're referring to "spawn campers". which is pretty low, since there's really no way to defend against it and has nothing to do with skill. but being a sniper and finding a nice hidey-hole, while frustrating to go up against, is not really that bad.

I don't like them because they're usually the horrible players that single-handedly lose the game for me and my team. When 4 people on our team have 15+ kills and under 5 deaths, and we lose because the other two went 1-25, there's a problem.

What happens if everyone in the room sits in a corner like a scolded dog? Nobody gets kills, the objective doesn't get completed, and no-one plays the game. Why play if you aren't going to play?

I don't mind campers, as long as the map has been designed so that the spots people like to camp in have a weakness (say, multiple entrances that can't be watched simultaneously). I think most of the bad feeling (at least, in my case) comes from being killed repeatedly by someone I'm unable to get to...
fortunately blackops has alot of bushes and tall grass. not to mention the camo blends really well. hint: sometimes the best camping spots arent always the most obvious

It's about having fun.

You can talk about tactical legitimacy until the cows come home, and it won't change the fact that suddenly dropping dead from some guy who's been watching this one doorway for the past ten minutes isn't much fun.

Thing is, you wouldn't think it'd be much fun for him/her either; so it often seems like this person is sacrificing their own fun to detract from yours. Who would like someone like that?

Also, as has been mentioned, camping can be, but rarely is, for the benefit of the team, which is important when, you know, you're playing in a team.

you know, for while, i thought you were talking about actual, camping, like out doors, so i was really glad i read your post the entire way through before i posted.

I think its cause, stat wise, its hard to get the kills and the numbers in comparison to run and gun or sniping.

What you're referring to is spawn camping. Camping is fine. Spawn camping is a jerkish move.

i take spawn camping as an almost personall affront, but just camping in the hiding/sniper sense i believe should fall under a policy of: fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, to clarify, if you can get away with it more than once, while staying in the same position, it's not you fault, its just that they cant adapt to your tactics,

I am an avid user of camping methods and enjoy to kill other campers. Even though my friends hate it, I still win most of the matches.

This. Nothing's like a well tossed grenade into a hiding spot. Seeing as how we spawn with at least one grenade (more if you play Halo), camping shouldn't be as much of a complaint as it is.
