I'm usually a "never say never" type of person, but in this case, for me, I have yet to find death funny. Even if someone dies in a ridiculous way, the first thing that comes to mind is the pain they went through and how upset their families must have been, and I just feel kind of sick. I guess my sense of empathy is stronger than my sense of humor.

I don't think it's wrong to think death is funny. It just...doesn't seem possible for me.

With the right build up and the right punchline, anything can be funny. In case of death, watch the Darwin awards. There's radio station near my hometown with a show "called morons in the news". They often talk about hilarious deaths.

There are very few cases where a death could be funny in real life. It really depends on who the person was and how they died and even ten it might only be funny in hindsight a good while after the person died.

Well my and my immediate family did laugh at a very tasteless joke I made on the way to my grandmothers wake, so yes, death can be funny.

Ninja'd.

I'll point to the elephant in the room, EVERYTHING CAN BE MADE FUNNY. Even Rape. There. I said it. And I'll stand by that.

Why? I can understand someone being sensitive to it. To say none of the horrible things in this world should be made light of, because yes there is a certain degree of respect things like rape. like the holocaust. like death. like drunk driving. need to have, because they're horrible and that horrible shit happens to real people that have their lives horribly altered.

And I think, maybe those people that say it isn't funny don't dwell on those topics a lot in their brain or a lot stronger mentally then I am because hey... I was 5 when the concept of the apocalypse was told me (in a scenario on TV with a comet hitting earth and being told this could happen any moment) that was what ruined my childhood innocence. Even worse, I was soon brought up the idea of my parents dying of old age, it had me balling... and then there was the idea that I too was inevitably going to die- and I never had a concept of religion, so it became very real to me at a young age I was born literally just to die. But I've grown up contemplating these really horrifying existential things literally before I ever jerked off, and well....

Shit disturbs me. This is a horrible fucking world, a lot of the time I wish I was never born, but I'm here and I have to deal with it. This is how you deal with it, because if joke about it, if you mock it, you claim it and you can be somewhat less disturbed by it. If you were to think of these disturbing things in the physical form of someone who's about to kill you, that you have no hope of stoping, the humor is the way you spit in that guys face and say "Fuck you buddy, get on with it."

If you mean are those concepts by themselves funny? Then fuck no. Death, Rape, Halocaust, on their own aren't funny. They're fucking disturbing as all fuck.

I laughed when Whitney Houston died. Im not sure if thats weird or wrong. I just found that fact her death was so cliche quite funny.
Uhm, I honestly didn't care about her death at all, but may I ask why her death was a cliché?

OT: At times I think it's OK to laugh at death, but we should not be insensitive to those who are affected by it. By that I mean family and friends not people who mourned Micheal Jackson when he died. Most of those people had been making pedophile jokes about him beforehand and only cared when he died anyway. I chuckle a little thinking about the death by vending machine and death by falling coconut statistics. I also made a comment about how Darwin's evolution is still relevant to humans when a kid died because he was planking and fell off a ledge. Death can be funny, but that is the exception rather than the rule itself.

Maybe I'm jaded but I can make fun of just about anything without feeling any negative consequence. Do I believe it should be socially acceptable? Yes.

In real life i mean. Not in Videogames/comicbooks/movies or whatever other thing you can think of. People always say laughter is the best medicine, and how you can't take everything seriously. How it's good to laugh at life and so on and so forth .

However, Death is a part of life, is it possible, to make it funny, without being a sicko and/or psychopath ? Just to lighten the seriousness of Death . Now i don't mean going around laughing at every person that dies , that would be terrible, but just a way to take away the sting when someone you know have passed away or if you yourself are dying , with laughter.

This is just a random thought i had while reading on suicide. I was also wondering if people who attempted suicide, and then saw the foolishness of their ways, laugh about it every once in a while thinking back on how they did something pretty stupid.

Anyways, what do you guys think.
As usual, Monty python comes to the rescue:

Person A: I'm so sorry your grandfather died.
Person B: Don't be. It's the first time he paid for the drinks.

Well it needs a little back story from the this Christmas. To be frank she was a rancid **** in her later years and this christmas(2011) she just made drama for the family and only thought of herself, she basically tried to ruin Christmas for everyone because my grandfather was in the hospital at the time.
Anyway, on the way to her wake my sister whispered to me "To be honest I don't really want to go" to which I replied " Me neither." Now even my parents admitted that wakes are boring as fuck and just before we arrived and we had all talked about how it was just a waste of time, I the careless fuck that I am said " Even in death she has to try and ruin our day." We all laughed and I was told to not to tell that to anyone but them because everyone else in the family was overtly emotional.

Ok this may be terrible but I'm going to tell it anyway.
My great-uncle died a couple of years ago, but before his death our whole family including him used to joke at how he looked alot like the Master from Salem's Lot.
Anyway to cut a long story short, when he died, we had the wake and during that, my other uncle and myself were standing beside the coffin saying a few prayers when my uncle stopped, nudged me and said "well if you didn't think he looked like the master before, you certainly will now"
I'm not going to lie I nearly choked, and I tried to hold back the laughter untill i got out of the room but I ended up with alot of people asking if I was ok due to the fact I seemed to be crying alot. It had to be the funniest moment I've ever had during a death. But it's ok my Uncle would have seen the funny side.

Almost as bad as the Vending machine deaths that kill 13 people a year... I just, don't even...

13 people....a year... by that..How?!
People try to reach in to pull stuff out and the thing falls on them.

There are probably more exotic ways people have died by vending machine but that's the only one I know of.
