I actually found this game pretty addictive, I replayed it 3 or 4 times, upgrading all my weapons, getting all the achievements, all that.

Great third person shooter, one of the best.
NOT.

In my opinion, Dead Space was not all too bad. At the beginning I was apprehensive as well, but once I played more, I started having more fun. It's a little too easy, but other than that I had fun with it.

Just be glad you did not buy FarCry 2. That's all I can say.

Edit: Am I the only one who was not scared even in the slightest bit by any part of this game? I mean, I wasn't even surprised at many of the "Boo!" moments...

just played the first 20 mins .... someone please tell me it gets better T.T

at the store i had to choose between dead space and farcry 2 .... i'm thinking i made the wrong decision .......
farcry2 isn't really fun the enemy see you to fast i'm like 10m from them in the bush and i don't move and they can still see me. and you cant drive more than 100M or you already get attacked and the gameplay stays similar. (look at zero punction) one of the only positive side are the graphics.

I really enjoyed Dead Space. Perfection? NO!!! Entertaining? YES!!! Alot better than FC2 which is just plain boring.

Dead Space is definitely a good survival horror game to get into the genre itself. I was trying to get into the Horror genre, so I picked up Dead Space and I enjoyed it very much. It's a good start for the more intense games.

I like the game I treated it as mindless shooty fun until I could get my hands on Fallout 3
and yes I played it on mouse/kb with no problems.
No dead space is nothing like system shock 2 nothing in it is even remotely like Shodan nor the submissive relationship of the main character to Shodan, dead space is an A to B shooter with some slight Scientology influence

It was pretty scary. I really wished that Isaac would talk.
I had fun but it was not great.

It's scary as fuck as it gets into it (I think the terror really picks up around Chapter 2 especially), though towards the end it gets more action oriented and the scares become more predictable. But it makes up for it with some serious plot twists in the end. It's a good game.

I enjoy Farcry 2, except when you save at a gun shop, ready to go on your mission, drive halfway across the map to your objective, stopping every 5 minutes to take out a guard post, only to get sniped by the first enemy you engage, and you start over at the gun shop with none of the progress saved. That sucked. Otherwise, the game was fun, and the various infiltration points for each base give people with different styles of play lots of options for how to complete an objective.

as a lot of id games say in their cover "this game is meant to be played alone and in the dark"

it's fun and not the greatest horror survival game ever but better than a bunch i've played and it can be pretty darn scary is spots. seriously play it in the dark with all the lights turned off

My opinion is based on the demo so take it as you wish, but I didn't care for it that much. It feels like it's a game where you walk somewhere and maybe kill 1 or 2 enemies on the way then you get to where you need to go and fight either 1. a large group of enemies or 2. a boss. Judging by the reviews and posts on this board, not everyone feels that way, but that's just me.

I liked Dead Space. Sure, it had a bit of a slow start, but damn it picks up quick.

The only issue I had was with parts of the ending. I mean really. Did they have nothing better to stick into the script?

I liked it a lot. The only really scary part for me was the "ohmagod, was that an enemy?! Wtf was that?! I don't wanna die!" moments and that regenerating necromorph.

Oh and to all those complaining about the difficulty try playing it on the hardest difficulty with only an unupgraded (or mildly upgraded) assault rifle.
It is near impossible and will most likely make you quit that game for life.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
dead space is pretty good definatly has some memorable moments, farcry 2 is good too altho its one of thoes games that suffers from doing the exact same thing over and over again

I disliked the game to start with. And I still dislike a lot about it, but I did like the boss battles. The main thing that irritated me the most was I felt I had been suckered into playing another Prey or Quake 4 or Doom 3(ie, they're all pretty much the same damn game). And that feeling stayed with me. I thought the boss battles were fun, despite being a bit corny with the whole 'vulnerable spot highlighted for dummies' thing going on. I liked a some of the weapons, a few of them were quite satisfying, in particular the line gun and the razor(buzzsaw thingy) and the assault rifle, despite looking like an oversized, elongated, baked bean can was useful right to the end. I think the fun started when I went to replay with stuff unlocked and suddenly the monsters weren't so irritating because I had enough ammo to deal with them and wasn't always fiddling around trying to shoot those tentacles off those 'mutated baby dog things with tentacles that shoot stuff at you'(I hate these guys). I also disliked the ones with no legs, because they were harded to hit with the razor, and that was about all I ever had ammo for :( .
My other bone of contention is how you handle in the game. I mean ok, so FPS twitching around is unrealistic, and I get it, he's in a big heavy suit. But seriously I'm sure an aircraft carrier has better turning and handling than Isaac Clarke and his magical wondersuit.
As an aside, I did like the upgrading aspect of things, it added an rpg element, without the bothersome rpg experience points. That said, I didn't really get the point of having 'gaps' in the node network that didn't actually do anything except give you access to other adjoining nodes. If it had given anything, even a tiny fractionable improvement I would have been a bit happier about spending those power nodes.

All that said, by the time I had the gear to deal with the whatever space zombies(which might has well have just been bloody Aliens(tm) for all the difference I think it would have made to the game), I was having more fun, because I could waste a spare round of line rack ammo to destroy those black and orange(ie, retextured and stat boosted) versions of the basic monsters. Oh and those mutated stasis pack thingies, was it just me or did all that twitching look more like a glitch than a slavering monster?

Anyway, I liked the Lvl 6 armour, I thought it wuz cool :p but couldn't be stuffed going through again despite having mah gunz out :D

Dead Space was...okay.
Graphics were great.
Good, creepy audio.
Lovely gore.
Creepy/frightening atmosphere.

Didn't like the combat system.
Didn't care for the lack of character development.

After a while the enemies just got on my nerves. The enemies for me were like the random encounters in the old JRPG games. You run and run, hoping that nothing will pop out and have to fight you. You get that feeling in your stomach, so you run faster...then BANG. Random encounter. Just flippin' great.

Overall, it was an average game.
I had fun, but I don't feel motivated to go back and play it any time soon.

I loved my 2 Playthroughs of Dead Space. It borrowed from other forms of entertainment, like Aliens and Event Horizon, but it all culminated into a great game.
