Meeeh mostly just a shocker kinda like arghh! you could replace all the monsters with koala bears it would do the same bloody thing!
So i think dead space is pretty crappy.

What killed farcry 2 was having to go to save points, eventually causing me to rage quit after several missions (Good thing it was a rental).

I really loved Dead Space. It's atmospheric, controls well, and has plenty of "Shit Brix" moments. Not many games where you get to play a Big Daddy running around a space hulk fending off zombie Genestealers. So cash.

Believe me.. You made the right Decision. DS and FC2 start out at different camps, and end at different camps. By that I mean: Far Cry 2 initially seems like a non-linear and wide open game, that never will bore you. It quickly does just that. While Dead Space seems like it's going to be a borefest that has nothing more than cheap scares, when it quickly becomes a game with a great narrative, and a tense pacing. You bet on the right horse, believe me.

If you got a bad case of TL;DR, It gets better.

the save points weren't very far apart, it didn't take too long to get to one from the other, be worse if there was only 1 per level but there was like 20 on each one

I watched my dad play it for a while, it did look a bit slow o begin with, but most games start slow and the pace gets faster as you get into it.

I actually hated that part. I got stuck there too. My only advice is, use only one cannon for tiny asteroids. And use double blasts for bigger ones. if you use both cannons too much youll overheat really fast, but if you spam only one it wont overheat quickly.

And if you cant get past it, its better to take a break and try again later so you have steady hands.

I really liked Dead Space up until the final 2 chapters where you end up dragging something for ages then fight a pretty crappy boss. Finished the game in 2 sittings because it sucked me in. Only stopped once I reached chapter 10.

A very solid horror game. However, it simply can't compare to the first Condemned. Matter of fact, every horror game seems like a slight disappointment after playing Condemned.
Except for Condemned 2, which goes from slight disappointment to complete and total disappointment. Seriously. What the hell?

Don't give up! I had to retry that part like 5 or 6 times, it's not easy.

It was pretty scary. I really wished that Isaac would talk.
You don't like his grunty gaspy noises? I find his lack of speech rather endearing in that the 'pushover' variety of silent protagonist seems misplaced in the setting of the game. He's essentially a janitor lost in a space-marine's storyline, poor little guy...

lol. VERY true. Condemned 2 was one of the biggest horror game letdowns ever.

I put it down when I got to the part where the zombies were super fast because they had stasis pods in them... or something. I got bored around then.

It was like choosing between shit and shit.

Far Cry 2 was good but if you played Far Cry 1, 2 has absolutely no connection to 1. Then there's that awful "drive to your objective which is across the map" thingy. Then there's the "Dudes stopping you and shooting at you every 5 minutes when you're driving".

Can't say anything about Dead Space 'cause I never played it, but I gotta say Far Cry 2 isn't really a good game. Mediocre at best.

But to be honest you were better off not buying any of those games.
How can you say that when you haven't even played Dead Space?

Dead Space is best played on Hard difficulty (both me and my mate played it on hard first time through) because otherwise its boring, and its not too difficult on Hard either.

I did enjoy Far Cry 2, but not nearly as much as Dead Space. Far Cry 2 has you spend 50% of your game time driving down roads, and stops you every 20 seconds at each and every checkpoint so you can get shot at. Seriously, everyone hates you on that game.

Dead space was good. Not a game I would buy but a good game non the less.Eventually the enemies will become creepier and a lot harder to kill.

Far Cry 2 was annoying because it was a very same-y game consisting of the same types of missions copy and pasted, you felt no real sense of need to conserve ammo as there was a restock point every 10 metres.

Dead Space on the other hand is very atmospheric, I played it on hard and often found myself not necessarily scared at the game, but the fact that I had 5 rounds left and I had been averaging 6 shots to kill something. The scares aren't really scares, more jumps and shocks that tire quite quickly. However I found DS a lot more satisfying, moreso due to the gore which was a great stress reliever.
