No, because they have screwed the zombies mode by making it a DLC thing. Seeing as I only play COD for the zombies and occasionally play multi I have zero intrest in the game now, shame for them really as I would have bought it otherwise too.

What's UT stand for?
I think he's referring to Unreal Tournaments style of movement.

I'm willing to give it a chance ... provided it goes on a reasonable enough sale, I can run it, and I don't hear others absolutely lambaste it.

Other than that, from what I've seen from the trailers it looks like the (single-player) game might actually be delving deep into themes reminiscent of the original Deus Ex (power in relation to government & authority) which I haven't seen any game actually tap into since Invisible War (and even then IW was more about society than authority). Considering DX1 is one of my top five favorite games of all time, primarily because of its story, shit yeah I'm interested.

Why? Is poor little multi-billion dollar video game publisher Activision so suffering under the weight of mean internet words that it really needs protection? Man, with all this negative attention, I bet sales of the most widely sold and profitable video game series ever[footnote]Possibly untrue, I certainly haven't checked, I think I read it in an article once somewhere... ?[/footnote] are going to be decimated, they might not even be able to make a 22nd game.

I personally won't be giving it a chance, but why would I? I don't like the previous games, or even that whole genre much. I don't really get who you're trying to convert here, I think most people know whether they're interested in Call of Duty or not by now. If they don't, I'd really wonder about where that million dollar advertisement budget is going.

But this one actually looks different.
No, it looks like a mashup of the last three games with some new weapons and double jump.

This is, after all, from Treyarch, aka the company that's actually trying to change things every once in a while.
It's from Sledgehammer, a company that hasn't been well received in the past.

Black Ops 2 might not have been that good, but it was trying as hard as it could to come up with something new, and this one looks to be trying even harder.
I liked Black Ops 2.

I could be wrong, of course. It might just be the same as every other COD game. But with this one, I just think we should give it a chance. This series might actually be growing in an interesting way, and I'd hate to see it smothered for the wrong reasons and revert to old habits (like Saw 6.)
I watched a total of like three hours of livestreaming last night. It looks boring. It doesn't even just look like every other CoD game, it looks like they sucked the fun out of the series. I've been hearing how this one is "actually fun" and stuff, and it got my hopes up, but multiple hours of streaming makes me think I'll pass.

I might give it a go. I missed out BO, BO:2, MW3 and Ghosts. Maybe it is time to give CoD another go after such a long absence.

I'll see how I feel after SHITTY work tomorrow, that usually brings out my mass homicidal side.

I don't hate CoD, I just don't care about it. I only find it annoying that it gets so much attention, especially these days when they're on their...what 11th version of the same game. In general I find multiplayer entertaining in very small doses, so small that I think I've played one game multiplayer a few times over the course of one week for this whole year. Oh, and I played Journey for a day, long enough to finish it, if you want to count that. A game series that essentially bases itself on MP play is not a series that is going to get my business.

All that being said, it does look like Sledgehammer (not Treyarch) is trying to mix up the formula a bit and that might be interesting to play. I'm still not going to get it though.

I hated Black Ops 2 and Ghosts, and honestly the last game that I did enjoy in the franchise (MW3) was still a pretty big letdown. So yeah... I'm pretty much done with making these games a day-1 purchase.

If it somehow manages to get stellar user reviews, sure, maybe. But otherwise, I'll pass. Maybe wait for one of the free trial weekends on Steam or a bargain bin price during a sale.

If for some reason I want to get my CoD multiplayer fix, I've still got MW2 and MW3 installed.

I already gave CoD its last chance and that was BO so no I will not be playing this but I won't go around parading hate for it.

No. I admit, this one does look like it does a few things differently, but all I could think when watching the ads I've seen is "This seems a bit like Halo". I'm all for trying new things with a franchise (Hell, the first Modern Warfare game was a nice shift from the usual Call of Duty fare), and I'll even consent to being an old Halo fan, but I just don't need another one of either. I won't hate it 'till I've played it (which I know I will be forced to), but I can't like it or be excited about it either.

I doubt it, but maybe. I haven't bought a CoD game since MW2. I played a friend's copy of MW3 and thought the maps were all shit. Especially since they were coupled with one of the worst respawn systems I've ever experienced. It kind of turned me off of CoD completely.

Who knows though, this one does look to be a significant improvement so maybe I'll get it when it's on sale. Pretty unlikely though.

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Noooooooooooo.

Explanation with a little less cynicism: My friend just bought it last night, and he's doing me the favor of checking out if the series is taking the fresh direction it desperately needs at this point... still have yet to hear from him. It could be that he's either A. having a blast, or B. the ball they dropped in the last two installments still hasn't been picked up, so he's keeping in the dark till he finds some sort of redeeming factor. So really it's just the latter for a series I, to an extent, stopped caring about ages ago.

But I will say this... air dashing looks cool, and so does wall climbing with your neat looking exoskeleton from Elysium. But even that doesn't justify another yearly $60 purchase.

Why do you care? this isn't me making a sarcastic, rhetorical question, I genuinely want to know. There'll always be people to play it online, why are you taking to the internet to defend it?

And yeah, it does look different from the last games, I agree on that point. Not gunna buy it though, god no. Don't care about online y'see, and the singleplayer of those games have become so insanely dumb or outright offensive (see the Press F to Mourn Picture) or just generally boring, I can't be bothered with them.

I honestly don't see why it matters. I mean, BLOPS 2 grossed over half a billion dollars IN ONE DAY, so obviously there are plenty of people out there who are more than willing to "give CoD a chance".

CoD is incredibly popular and trendy right now, and whenever something is popular and trendy, people are going to hate on it, it's practically a law.

I can't. I have played 2 COD games and didn't really like either of them and one of them is the still famed COD 4. I wont' deny that this one seems to change more than the series usually does, but that's not enough for me. FPS is one of my least favorite genres as it is and I personally consider most games in the genre to be low content things. The keyword there is most as there are certainly FPSes that break the formula. COD is especially known for reusing large portions of older games and this isn't just something petty people notice; it can actually be proven.

If someone with similar tastes to me says it's good then I'll check it out on discount, but otherwise no. I have to decide if a game is worth full price or not beforehand because I don't have enough money to buy every game that remotely interests me and because I have to decide whether the developer worked hard enough to justify the price and marketing promises. I'm not giving them money they don't deserve. That's just how it is. For me, a game has to prove itself rather than just rely on benefit of the doubt. That's just how I approach these things.

I haven't played it, but I will say people are being unfair about the whole 'press X to pay respects' thing. Nobody was complaining when Arkham City did it, and it's still not as bad as 'press X to Jason'.

Well, are people complaining specifically that you press a context sensitive button to pay respects or is it something else about how that context sensitive button scene works? I don't know the details.

I mean, nobody complained about Arkham City because of how tied that murder is to who Batman is, how the music and camera panning sold it, and how right next to where you pay respects is a pretty mean spirited recording from Hugo Strange just to let it sink in. Does COD do all of that or is this some shallow context button thing like any other game? Do you even know the deceased well?

Don't even mention "Press X to Jason". That....that was just awful.

To you my friend I say this.
Seriously they took enough of my money, and that's my fault but if they wanted to make a game worthy of buying they should have never released Ghosts. Even if it is good, I'm not buying it. Not a boycott or anything, simply a case of I could think of 200 more fun than a good COD game I could do with 60 quid. When Kevin Spacey can't change my mind, you know I'm for real.
