Can we go back to the Metroid Prime way of making Metroid games?

Oh, man.
Metroid Prime is my favorite game of all time and I played through all the Prime games. I would LOVE to see another one.
Well, maybe not Prime per se, but something with the same feel.
Something with isolation, I don't know, that's just an atmosphere I LOVE.
And I don't know if I'm in the minority or not on this, but I really liked the first-person view.
Hey, I guess I *am* asking for another Prime!

I too feel that Echoes was near the pinnacle of Prime storytelling. I would prefer a mix of Prime 1 and Prime 2, think a bit less direct stuff and more lore, but Prime 2 wasn't bad at all when it came to that.

Samus has provided dialogue in games before and they didn't suck (Metroid Fusion, for example) - Other M just has horrible writing and completely ignores all character development that Samus has previously had.

I would LOVE a new Prime game, if they kept it in the style of 1 and 2. I didn't like 3 as much, largely because of the switching between planets - it ruined a bit of the immersion to be honest. I much preferred the big, connected world of 1 and 2. I also think Samus should be working alone, there is no need for additional characters to interact with. If I want that type of a game, I'll play Halo. Just give us Samus, a massive, unexplored world and we're good to go.

Ideally, Metroid games should be developed like Mario games wherein there are some developed in 1st-person (the 3D model) and others in the 2D style. I liked Prime but the original is the only one I've played. Whereas I'm waiting on pins and needles for more Fusion...and a Zero-Mission style remake of Metroid 2.

On a different matter, I'd like to hear why Metroid: Fusion succeeded while Other M failed. They both had long exposition and a similar mission.
Purely opinion of course, but I'll give it a shot.

Fusion packed most of its exposition into the opening chapter instead of having long voiced cutscenes throughout the game. In retrospect I feel it might have been better to make that opening skippable, but Super's shorter intro wasn't and you do require a bit of explanation as to how Samus got her 'new' suit and lost her old one. It also establishes the X parasites as a serious threat, perhaps worse than the Metroids who once preyed on them since just one was enough to infect and nearly kill Samus. By contrast, Other M had you responding to an unknown distress call without any context except 'Baby's Cry at the Bottleship'.

Fusion stuck with the 2D perspective of Super, perhaps staying to the safer option in case Prime's experiment in FPS failed. In fact Fusion is the closest to Super in feel. I haven't played Other M long enough to form a valid opinion on the controls, but apparently it gets very annoying later when you need to tag enemies in specific places with missiles, since you have to go into FPS view mode to use Missiles and you CANNOT MOVE while in FPS view mode.

Finally, the thing everyone complains about- character presentation. To be fair, people did also complain about Fusion's increased linearity at the time (again you cannot completely skip Adam's dialogue, as I discovered in my recent speed run attempt), but just looking at the Unskippable of Other M's intro you can see the difference between Samus' inner monologues in each game. In Fusion she is worrying about just how dangerous the SA-X is, then wondering about why the Dachura and Etecoons happened to show up on her mission, and then expressing her fury over the Federation's secret cloning operation, and finally inwardly deciding to disobey orders to destroy all the X even if it costs her life. Other M has a bunch of manly space marines treating her like a spoiled princess they humour who's only along for the ride, and nothing she thinks or says contradicts this (if that changes later in the game forgive me). Fusion's entire text script is less than a fourth of Other M's yet conveys the character better. Also, any lack of fortitude she might have shown in Fusion is masked somewhat by a lack of voice. Not that we're opposed to voice on principle, just... not Other M's doormat zombie.

THE BABY.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Anyway; I recently replayed prime 1/2, and it acutally took a LONG time to get used to the camera controls because the GC controller only has 1 analog stick, so you have to use R to look up and down. You can't move at all during this time.

TBH, it kinda pissed me off for a while. I've been spoiled by better control schemes in FPS's lately, and Corruption's control was absolutely phenomenal. I loved every second of that game.

I'd wish for 2 things. Firstly, yes a new Metroid FPS on Wii U using the Wii U pro controller OR EVEN BETTER continuing corruption's control style (OMG IT WAS SOO GOOD) would be great. I'd also like a PROPER 3DS Metroid game in the vein of Fusion, which I do consider the best Metroid game to date (and I have played all of them.)

I have one more thing to add to this. The reason that the whole "authorization" mechanic worked and was understandable in Fusion was because Samus had JUST acquired the Fusion suit and her weapons had to be re-designed as her original suit had become the SA-X. They also had a REASON for not wanting her to get the wave beam, since they did not want her to exterminate the X entirely; they considered them to have possible military applications.

In [REDACTED], there is absolutely no reason that she cannot use all her stuff from the beginning. She showed quite clearly at the end of Fusion that she didn't give a toss about no motherfuckin' galactic authority and that she was do her own thing while kickin' ass and takin' names. Then we get to [REDACTED] and suddenly she's a needy, low self-esteem kinda girl? FUCK THAT. GIVE ME BACK MY SAMUS YOU FU-

Thanks, those are some pretty good explanations. I was interested in some different opinions since the only comparisons with Other M to other Metroid games seem to stay center on Samus and how awful the dialogue in Other M is.
