I'm not sure if it's against forum rules to make topics like this.

But basically, the Bloc Quebecois, NDP, and Liberals are all forming a coalition government to overthrow Canada's minority government. The people we did not vote for are going to be in power. We didn't vote for them for a reason. Yet this is not an illegal act.

Someone started an online petition to stop this. It's somewhere around 180,000 right now that I'm posting this. Any Canadians who don't want to see their democratic government abolished sign here.

Tell your friends.

I don't know much about Canadian politics but sounds to me like you should also consider starting a petition to make this illegal so it doesn't happen again. Good luck with this petition, too.

I think the Canadian government is plagued because its rules are so lax, and the American one is plagued because its rules are so strict. And thanks, Elephant!

I'd much rather have a dictatorial coalition than see Stephen Harper as PM for a minute longer, thanks.

It is not like this will interfere with your plans to invade northern, eastern and north eastern (The good parts) America with that secret army of super soldiers and killbots you are making.

HELL no. Coalition governments are exactly what Canada needs, especially if there's only one party on the right and two on the left (with a fourth jumping back and forth depending on who kisses their ass more).

You could say that Canada "didn't vote for" the coalition, but I could just as easily point out that the conservatives got 37.65% of the popular vote while the Liberals and NDP together got 44.44% (source [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/40th_Canadian_federal_election]).

EDIT: Also I voted NDP so yeah, this is pretty awesome from where I'm standing

B-but Stephen Harper looks like a pedophile.

That or he could pass as a really bad Bond Villain. What with that cat and all.

I don't think anyone would care about the coalition if the Bloc wasn't in it.

For those of you who aren't Canadian, the Bloc are a bunch of radicalists who want to separate the province of Quebec (which houses like one-quarter of the population of Canada) from the country. And while we won't get any benefits from them, they still want our financial support.

If it was just the Liberals and NDP, I don't think anyone would care. But the Bloc...

So looks are a necessity to how well you will run the country? Tell that to Trudeau, Mulroney, Chretien... you get the picture.

Back to the topic, so what we have is a retard that wants to shut down the oilsands that are keeping this country afloat, a mendicant that wants to tax the crap out of us in the name of a nonexistant hippie fear mongering scare tactic called global warming and a FRENCHMAN??? Not one of whom any sane member of the upright and self aware would want making life changing decisions for us all.

God, politicians are such douchebags.

It's not like the Liberals/NDP/Quebecois are sending armoured deathsquads through the streets. They just don't think Harper's good enough for the job, and radical action is necessary to get rid of him. What they want to do is force him to either resign and allow someone else to be appointed (probably the Liberals, who will most likely leave the Coalition at that point), or force him to call another election. Hopefully we can get a damn majority government this time if that happens.

But again, this isn't the death of democracy here. From the way people are acting you'd think they were declaring themselves the High Lords of Terra.

With the Bloc in that coalition, they might as well be.

So you're angry because your party is going to suddenly be even more useless than it was before? Or you're angry because they're doing it now, rather than before the last election?

Well don't you think it's funny that both Layton and Dion are dropping the things that made their platforms unique for this coalition? You aren't getting NDP, so the fact that you voted for them is irrelevant.

What you ARE getting is a moron who wants us to be in more debt then ever (Layton), a jerk who RESIGNED from his position and then jumped back in at the possibility of power while dropping his crazy green shift plan that everyone said was ridiculous anyways (Dion), and a guy who wants nothing more then to split Canada in twain (Duceppe).

Yeah, this is a great idea.
Oh wait, it's a stupid idea.

They say Harper is taking 'too long' with his economic plan (Which would probably be released in Janurary), when this ship of fools (If the coalition goes through) would probably release their 'master plan' around the same time, if not later since they now have to agree across 3 platforms (One of which doesn't care about anything BUT Quebec).

Hurray for 'progress'.

12 weeks after the 4 platforms said how they would be putting aside partisanship for the sake of Canada, partisanship is front and center (Harper isn't immune to mistakes made) and it's a grab for power.

And who cares if it's constitutional? It doesn't mean it's right!
'Everything is permissible, not everything in beneficial.' (Who can tell me where that quote is from?)

They've made moot the big election we just went through, and now they're putting the Canadian people through this crap. You want my vote next time, Parliament? Too freaking bad. It'll probably be vetoed by the other 3 whiny parties who don't have enough support to see their agendas go through.

1- The Bloc won't be in the coalition, it will only support it.
2- The Bloc's goal isn't to separate Quebec, it's to protect Quebec's interests before the House of Commons

If you read a bit more about this instead of posting this crap, you'd know that by now.

as me and my friend have dubbed it:

"Welcome to the dictatorship of Canada good sir".

I will only be content with this if 1 of 2 senarios happen. 1) Stephen Dion wears a Fidel Castro hat for the rest of his life. If you're going to Coup D'etat, at least wear the proper apperal. 2) Stephen Dion gets replaced by Micheal Ignatieff.
