Dead Like Me was a brilliant mix of humor with an insightful perspective on becoming a functioning adult. Sadly, it was cancelled, but then it suffered a fate worse than death.

The direct-to-DVD movie was absolutely horrible. It spent the first half-hour talking about the character's personalities -useless to those who had watched the show- and gives no exposition on the plot, so its complete nonsense to newcomers.
Of course, the whole thing is a bad fanfic. They kept stressing lines that you just can't cross, and then broke them all. Murder, revealing identities, and an absurd and painful highschool romance.
All the plotlines were left undone, and the characters themselves... Well, they weren't themselves at all.
I could go on, but it was such a pain... Because they could make new episodes based on the DVD sale, I hope no one buys them. I feel bad now for having rented it, even.
i agree dead like me was one of the best shows ever. but replacing rube with desmond from lost was unforgivable.

TV seems like such a brutal business in America. In Britain, it's a lot more lax and not so heavily set on TV ratings. Shows in the UK generally go on until their done. That's not to say there aren't any cases.

Even though i live in the UK, I still check to see if my favourite American shows will return. Heroes (one of my favs) is always rumoured to be getting the axe. I can't deal with the pressure!

I hate it when they suddenly cancel shows. If they said "Hey we're going to cancel your show after the next season" then that would be OK because the creators could wrap up any loose ends and not leave it on a big cliffhanger.

I personally think Fox has some kind of cancellation fetish. Family Guy is still going but Fox had to cancel it... twice.

As to why Fox cancels sci fi shows I believe this comic has a plausible explanation.

Dont know if they cancelled it but I dont think they are making a third series of Rome... which is really sad cos it was great.

Perhaps it may be for the best as some series the more episodes they make the more ridiculous they become. Still wouldnt say no to a third series tho =P

Dexter is still going right?
I dont watch TV but I buy the Series on boxset if I like it, and Dexter should never be cancelled... ever.
Yes, it's just in between seasons. I can't wait for it to start up again. That and Weeds are the best shows left on TV.

What really perplexes me is that some crap shows like CSI and Law & Order get tons of spin-offs and stay on forever. Do that many people really watch that crap, or did they just get a lucky time slot?

I still remember when MTV cancelled Clone High after one season, it hurt so bad.
Pass me that raisin doobie!

I feel your pain, but I remember hearing that the problem with Clone High was how it was received overseas, people weren't happy about the way Ghandi was portrayed and protested the show and it lost its European carriers as a result. ZZZ. My friends and I still find a few times a year to watch the show on dvd though, especially the raisin smoking episode :D

I'm up there with you. Almost all of my friends have neer heard of it. It's also a shame that the first season was amazing and that the second season left me with a bitter taste.

Heroes is about as likely to be canceled as Fox is to stop purporting to serve "news".

No, I loved Jericho also. And I watched the alternate ending to the season 2 finale, and I really wished they had continued from there. What a great concept.
