Excuse me if this has been done before. I searched through the first ten or so forum pages and used the search button, but it's early in the morning for me and I may have missed something.

Most of the networks (in the U.S. at least) have now announced which shows they're keeping and which they're giving the ax. I wish they would give these shows a heads up so they could actually resolve their plots (The Sarah Connor Chronicles, for instance, is ending on a huge cliffhanger--no surprise, it aired on Fox). I also wish they'd let some of the quirkier shows, such as The Unusuals, which debuted at a time when no other new shows were starting and recieved zero promotion, have some time to build their audience. I mean, this show went for about 5 episodes before it was announced it would be canceled. Really? Way to have some patience guys. I know you have a buck to make, but it seems to me you might want a return on your investment. How about advertising it more?

At least Chuck has been granted something of a reprieve. Originally slotted for destruction, it's now been granted a 13 episode third season. Great. So some of the best shows on TV won't be coming back at all, while another truly unique show is getting a reduced season. Yet somehow all these cheap reality knockoffs keep going on like the Energizer bunny.

So, Escapist fans, any shows these season or past years you feel were unjustly canceled (yes, I'm expecting waves of browncoats in this reply)? Or anyone want to take the networks' side?

I still remember when MTV cancelled Clone High after one season, it hurt so bad.

I really don't understand the mentality behind mass cancellations either, it just makes little sense to me to toss an investment after such a limited time. The Unusuals could have been a sleeper hit if they just gave it some time, it was a really good show, despite the total miscasting of Joan of Arcadia.

If they don't cancel anything, then how will they ever make space for the mediocre crap that they'll inevitably try to shove down our throats?

*Insert the usual rant about Firefly being cancelled despite being good enough to be an everlasting classic*

Well...at least the Hardcore-Whedonites get a second season of Dollhouse, a show whose premise i like, but was so damn uneven that i'm unsure if it was worth renewing...

Terminator was...also a bit uneven, but it certainly picked up the pace in the last few episodes and had enough great moments to be renewal worthy.

But well, it is how it is, Network Television is hard business and does not give a shit about telling a story or pleasing the fans.
Series that cannot guarantee a big audience from the get go is left to die from a marketing standpoint, sure hits and stupid shows are hyped to no end and as soon as the ratings drop, no one cares about the few real followers anymore.

What baffles me is how it is possible to be stuck on an Island for 5 seasons (Lost), or how you can revolve 4 around breaking out of a prison (Prison Break).
I don't know how they managed to keep House going this long and after seeing this weeks episode of Supernatural (Don't know the name but its the one with the 2 kids locked up in the house after they shared a father with their mother who hung herself, absolutely nothing "Supernatural" involved at all!) I think it's safe to say those writers are well and truly out of ideas...

Maybe it's time to drop some of these shows in favor for something new... Don't be afraid of change it's a good thing.

If Lost was cancelled before the final season was over and done with I would have no problem hunting down and destroying every man, woman and child involved with the NBC executive staff in any way. I'm not going to defend the dialogue on the show, but it actually does seem to be going somewhere with its story, and I want to find out what's what.

Prison Break needs to be put out of its misery, though.

Hey, House is still good. You were right about those other shows though, especially prison break. That show lost it after season 1.

When they canceled Drive that truly killed Fox in my eyes also Futurama and Arrested Developments. Fox makes the worst decisions ever

Dead Like Me was a brilliant mix of humor with an insightful perspective on becoming a functioning adult. Sadly, it was cancelled, but then it suffered a fate worse than death.

The direct-to-DVD movie was absolutely horrible. It spent the first half-hour talking about the character's personalities -useless to those who had watched the show- and gives no exposition on the plot, so its complete nonsense to newcomers.
Of course, the whole thing is a bad fanfic. They kept stressing lines that you just can't cross, and then broke them all. Murder, revealing identities, and an absurd and painful highschool romance.
All the plotlines were left undone, and the characters themselves... Well, they weren't themselves at all.
I could go on, but it was such a pain... Because they could make new episodes based on the DVD sale, I hope no one buys them. I feel bad now for having rented it, even.

I miss Cavemen and I'm not joking. I may be the only person in the world who liked that show, but I thought it was hilarious. I just wish I could find somewhere to watch it.

Fox should bring back more shows like Titus and Greg the bunny. They do make the worst decisions, Family Guy anyone?

I hate the fact that Invasion was cancelled, I was looking forward to see how the story continued, instead we were left with questions not answered and a poor ending to what could have been a good show.

Arrested Development is all that really needs to be said, but I always have more to say.

Fox is all around terrible about canceling shows early. I won't even bothering watching their shows until a third season is a go. I think a lot of it has to do with reality TV. It's really cheap and easy to produce, so as soon as a serial drama or sitcom is in the weeds they dump it for an easy return.

I'll stick with HBO and Showtime from here on out. Dexter is easily the best show on television anyway.

Also, bring back Black Donnelly's.

No one else I Know watched it, to my knowledge It go no promotion, but I found it great. It was a sort of alien invasion series with the sort of feeling Lost has, called "Threshold" I think...that never came back for a second series, aired on Sky I think..

Predictably it ended on a big mysterious cliffhanger...

[EDIT]
