And i wouldn't say two, more like one and a half .... we still have the main thing Fromanzio brought to the table" "True that was half of his strength." William said with an amused smile as he took another sip. He was still a bit down about the party shrinking that much. "anyway, your....CO ... give you permission to refill the ranks as needed? or dose he care at all" "Well he doesn't care at all. I can so whatever I want really as long as I continue with the mission, why do you know anyone?" William looked up at Rias as he took another sip of his canteen.

Bom scratched his head, unable to see anything out of order.

"We should probably eat. Luncheon, I reckon. Can move on after that?"

"Well he doesn't care at all. I can so whatever I want really as long as I continue with the mission, why do you know anyone?"William looked up at Rias as he took another sip of his canteen.

"i know lots of people, none of which would be any real use to us though" Rias said with a frown "how about you guys? and friends that don't mind possibly dieing?" she said to William but was more or less directed at Claire and Bom as well.


"We should probably eat. Luncheon, I reckon. Can move on after that?"
"i don't have a problem with it" Rias said as she went to pull something to eat out of her pack

"i know lots of people, none of which would be any real use to us though" Rias said with a frown "how about you guys? and friends that don't mind possibly dieing?" "Well I used to hire quite an lot of people as my private security, maybe if we find one of them they will help us. For the right price that is they aren't cheap, still they are worth every penny." William though back to all the people he hired. He wondered if they would meet one of them, it would be very fortunate if they did find one.

"Sounds good to me." William grabbed some food out of his backpack as he started eating it. He looked around for anything suspicious. William was unfamiliar with these woods, and he had the feeling they would meet allot of hostile things here. So William had his guard up as he looked around, he had a bad feeling about this mission.

Rias frowned "and we're not likely to run into them way out here" she said looking around a little, a contented smile on her face, Ethsich, while a dangerous country in peace times, mostly due to the wild life, its still one the most beautiful she'd seen.

in her looking around she noticed William was a bit on edge "if your worried about getting attacked, don't, least while the sun's still up, at night it can be dangerous if you stray to far from the fire, which means we can't let the fire go out while we're in Ethsich" she warned "but other wise, 'if you leave them a lone, they leave you alone' is the best survival advice i could give right now" the way Rias spoke held a certain reverence for her surroundings

Claire took a seat on the tree next to Rias and started to eat her lunch in silence; thinking over the question of who she could contact. She new at least a few people who could help, but none she could readily contact, and at least one - her fencing instructor - she would never contact so long as she had a choice in the matter.

sorting though the list in her mind, she was forced to come to the conclusion she had no one who met their needs. Still, if they couldn't be more effective via larger numbers, then maybe they could be more efficient. "I'll take some of Fromanzio's bombs; if nothing else I have a good delivery method" she said, opening a small portal to emphasize the statement.

William nodded as he took another bite out of his bread, he calmed down a bit because of what Rias said. "Still my contacts are as I said mercenaries, they travel the land all the time. So when we arrive in a major city we might come across one." William hoped that he would meet one of them soon. All of them were strong, some veterans from multiple wars others just starting out. But all of them would be able to help them.

"I'll take some of Fromanzio's bombs; if nothing else I have a good delivery method" Claire demonstrated her power. William nodded "That sounds like an good idea to me. Still we have to be careful with using bombs especially right now. I don't want to run into that Trent again because of an fire." William had a feeling that next time they wouldn't get of so easily.

Bom scarfed down his smoked fish without a word. He didn't have any interest in taking bombs for his self : he'd seen the destruction they wreaked, he'd seen what happened to their previous owner, and frankly, he didn't trust any contraption whose inner workings were a mystery to him.

Once they all finished, Bom offered Rias some help onto a horse.

Rias nodded in agrement "though we should probably figure out which ones just explode and which was are the fire bombs, and then just use the explode ones and save the fire bombs for if i need a recharge or something." she said, pushing her self up "other wise i was going to suggest you" she said to Claire "be our new demolition expert, cause of your portals"

as Rias headed to one of the horses, Mr Bom offered her assistance in mount it, which she accepted and thanked him for offering "shall we continue?" she said once in the saddle, clearly feeling a little better

"Now...Which route should we head down?" asked Bom. "That stone road should mean a settlement isn't too far, right? I mean, why else would they pave this much?"

"if this where any other country you'd be right Mr Bom" Rias started "but in all the trips to Ethish i made with dad, i've never seen a paved road, that's a practice used by, quote unquote 'civilized country's'." she said trying to get the horse pointed at the paved path, "hey, how do you work this thing" she said offhandedly before getting back on her train of thought "anyway, unless somethings changed in the 9 months since my last visit to Ethish, i think we found a clue"

"That sounds like an good idea to me.......cause of your portals" William agreed with Rias Claire was the best candidate for the job.

"Now...Which route should we head down?...why else would they pave this much?"
"if this where any other country you'd be right Mr Bom.....i think we found a clue"
William listened to them talking while he made his pony walk, he hadn't been in these lands often but even he knew that they were none paved roads here. Perhaps that was the reason for the low amount of trade compared to other countries. "Well Rias you seem to know more about this country then I do. So it will probably be for the best if you lead the way."

Rias blushed, "i know some stuff from traveling, i dunno if that makes me a worthy guide though" she said, surprised some one would want her guiding them anywhere

Claire slipped back on her horse, keeping close to Rias so that she could keep an eye on her wounds - after all, infection killed more then swords.

"Sounds like a good plan" Claire responded, taking one final swig from her waterskin and setting forward

The group travelled down the stone pathway for about 2 hours, when they came across a strange creature, it looked for the most part like a starved Ox, tough its neck was much longer , and what looked like a metallic head dragged along the ground. From this heads mouth and nostrils a grey gas was being emitted, it wasn't long before the group saw that this gas turned what it touched into stone, it appeared they had found the one responsible for the stone pathway. This creature seemed to ignore the group and kept walking.

Bom watched the ox carve a path.

"Isn't it cute? It's, it's - oh...ooooh."

He saw the trail of stone and made the connection. He turned to the others.

"Shall we just go back?"

The group could here a very faint level of screeches in the distance

the screeches made Rias edgy 'sounds like they're aways a way still ... hopefully they aren't after us ...' she thought "we should keep moving" she said looking in the direction of the screeching, before turning the horse around to head back to the main path.

"strange creature, didn't know such a thing existed" she said in reference to the 'road maker' Ox. she wanted to study it a little, but with the raptor apes in ear shot, she didn't feel safe stopping

The strange ox was making an path with his breath? William had never before seen or heard of such an creature. He was happy Fromanzio wasn't here, as he would have blown it up for no reason."Shall we just go back?" "I am guessing the guides decides" Screeches could be heard from a distance making William uneasy. William grabbed his tooth sword handle and kept looking around for anything suspicious.

"we should keep moving" William nodded and followed Rias. "strange creature, didn't know such a thing existed" It looks like an interesting creature... Maybe they could be tamed and used to build roads? That would safe us allot of money.. the trade company that is. William made an mental note about asking around if anybody knew this strange ox. Still right now he was following Rias back to the main road.
