The forums on the Escapist are very meta. Most of what Off-Topic Discussion discusses is the Escapist community. The only problem is there's a very noticeable difference between who talks to who, and about who. You'll notice a lot of people talk about MaxTheReaper and NeonBob. They all have their own in-jokes, their own community, their own thing.
Then you see people like me. Talking about the mods before they were mods, or inside jokes from ages ago. There's a big divide there, huge gaps where two communities occupy the same close space, yet have nothing to do with one another. It seems odd that there's a gap, yet no bridges being built for it.
Personally, I'd like to see it changed. So, I'm doing what I can. The I Bet He's Cockney II [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.143644] thread is an attempt to bridge that gap a little, but I'm not sure it's enough by itself, so I'm making this thread solely for the point of encouraging conversation between these two communities.
Well, I guess everything starts with an introduction. I'm NewClassic, joined these forums about a year ago after deciding I was going to be a review writer for the User Reviews section. It wasn't until I really stumbled on Off-Topic that I became a part of the community. I stumbled on the first version of the Cockney thread, and it was all downhill from there.
So, if you feel like introducing yourself and telling me a bit about you, feel free to do so. Sit down, grab a drink, and chill out. See if we can at least thin this gap a bit.
