Oh there is plenty we can do about nickel and dime DLC, I'm not talking about honest DLC mini-expansion packs, but this crap "add a hair cut" DLC. Stop buying the shit, and stop buying games from companies that pull that crap.

I'm pretty sure that would work.
This isn't costumes we're talking about. Its entire characters.

Same bloody deal. Honestly adding a character along with content, that I can understand, adding a character alone and expecting us to pay for it? Get bent.

I don't mind them haveing DLC characters a few months down the line. Like 'Oh you guys want Venom? fair enough. We'll work on that an u can download him later on'

But. 'we're about to release this game, so we're holding off some characters so we can exploit more money out of you'.... not cool.
I'd agree entirely if the roster wasn't already rather impressive. I don't feel that Shuma-Gorath and Jill are exactly vital to MvC3, myself. They're just characters with fan appeal (Shuma-Gorath is popular in Japan (tentacles?)). They probably will have more characters down the line, too. It'll be good.

Although, I have to admit I'm so psyched for this game that I'm willing to ignore a few glaring financial faux-pas. Take my money Capcom, just give me this game!

A new character is extra content. Its an entirely new set of attacks and play styles. Honestly, would you prefer if they just didn't add anything? I mean cool, but some people do want those extra characters.

It might be fine if it came out a few months after the game release, but the same day? the same week? That's just being cheap and nasty.

saying that that DLC can make the difference between a profitable product, and an unprofitable one.
What he doesn't say is that MvC3 is going to be a profitable product even if we cover it with monkey poop and charge $200 for it. The unprofitable products are all the other games that no one played, which we have to make up for.

Capcom is probably the worst company in the world when it comes to DLC.

Is it really? Again, they have plenty of content already. If they want to charge for more for extra stuff, at any point in time, why not? It doesn't hurt the normal game in any way. I also doubt you'll have a character say something along the lines of 'man I wish Jill Valentine was here' or 'man, I bet I could kick Shuma-Gorath's ass ten ways to Sunday. If only someone would pay his inter-cosmic bus fare' during battle so you can effectively just ignore the DLC if you don't want to pay for it.

Me? I'll buy it. Hell, I want to give Capcom money. I really do. I appreciate this product greatly and want to show it. They've presented a way for me to do so and I will. Hell, if they really want money, they should offer up Proto Man and Doctor Strange as a DLC package. Fans wouldn't know what to do with themselves.

Blazblue did this with their most recent game, and the complaints have been pretty minimal. However, the main difference is that the game was on sale new for $40 and the DLC combined for the three characters is around 20 dollars, if you want them.

Still don't have as many characters as MvC2.

I personal like DLC for this type of game
and since the MvC3 lineup seem a bit lackluster to me I think DLC will help

Your point is? McC2 had the luxury of being able to recycle characters they used in the last game. MvC3 doesn't have that luxury because its the first MvC in 3D. At most the have a starting point with the Tatsunoko vs characters, but they ran on a different engine. Besides, 30+ is more than the original SFIV and people clamored over that. If one is willing to pay $60 for 25 characters, one would think that one would also be willing to pay $60 (+5? +10?) for 30+ (+2) characters.

This is one genre of gaming where DLC really makes sense so long as it is adding full characters...and not costume changes or other things that should be used as prizes within the game.

Releasing a new character every few weeks or a month could go a long way towards keeping the online play strong and the game relevant without dividing people with new games. This is assuming of course they don't go and release MvC4 in the next 2 years.

I'm sorry but when these companies are talking about day one premium DLC three to four months before the damn game is even released that is nothing more than greed. These big publishers like Capcom, Activision, EA, etc need to all go the way of the dinosaur.

Anymore they just walk a fine line of giving you as absolutely little as possible while still attempting justify that 60 dollar price tag. Everything that they can leave out and charge you for later is just extra money. I suppose it's all good though, since it's obviously become their goal to see how badly they can rip us off then maybe it's time I make it mine as well . . . . . Yar har fiddle dee dee

I don't like you.
Capcom makes Mega Man. If Capcom were gone... No... No Mega Man. No. I must have my Mega Man. I must. I... I need it.
A more serious response would note how Capcom actually makes good games on average and the costs don't actually affect you unless you deign to buy the DLC.

I don't mind DLC, I find that sometimes it can be a good way to lengthen the game.

What I don't like is when companies announce DLC before the game even comes out. DLC should be stuff you thought up and wanted to include AFTER you released the game (or at least after it went gold). It should not be a way to make a quick buck off your audience.

Unfortunately, this is just how gaming is now.
