I completely agree with killing the smart car. I'm more a fan of electric cars. But I have something against hatchback cars. I just don't like the way hatchbacks look. Also, Toyota needs to disappear.
Or they are people who need to move large amounts of stuff a long distance in an acceptable amount of time. Like say packages or groceries.Souplex said:Cars in general shouldn't be. They exist only for people who are silly enough to live in suburbs and rural areas. Motorists are wusses who have forgotten what their legs are for.

That thing might be kinda cool. If it can go at least 60 (MPH, 100 Kilometers per hour for the rest of the world).JemJar said:A road-legal go kart.canadamus_prime said:That is not a car, that is a freakin' go-kart.JemJar said:You know, I was going to write a bit of a defence of the Smart Car.

Which means bugs can splatter off your face at 60mph too...crimson5pheonix said:That thing might be kinda cool. Which is why you wear shades. Or a helmet. Either way, it's useless unless it can go highway speeds.JemJar said:Which means bugs can splatter off your face at 60mph too...crimson5pheonix said:That thing might be kinda cool. It is too shabby, but I still want to drive one at least once.JemJar said:"Smart claims a 0-60mph time of 17 seconds while the top speed is electronically limited to 85mph."crimson5pheonix said:Which is why you wear shades. It's a 70bhp engine on a 740kg car. Not too shabby.
Road-legal? You've got to be kidding me? It doesn't even have proper doors!JemJar said:A road-legal go kart.canadamus_prime said:That is not a car, that is a freakin' go-kart.JemJar said:You know, I was going to write a bit of a defence of the Smart Car.

I don't see the problem with electric cars. Tesla is releasing a sedan in 2012 at $50,000 a piece (yes a little pricey but from the roadster price of $100000, its a steal) called the model s, can get around 300 miles on a single charge, 0-60 in 5.6 sec, and fully charges in 3.5 hours from a wall socket. Natural gas can be an alternative fuel vehicle, but what's the point, natural gas is STILL a widely sought after nonrenewable resource. Hydrogen is a fairly hopeful alternative to gasoline but at the current time, over three years of owning a vehicle, it costs about 5000 more dollars to run a hydrogen car than it is a regular gasoline vehicle.Sleekgiant said:You forgot to mention, better bigger cars can be had for the same money.Mudkipz. said:Personally i think that the smart car shouldnt of been made. The G-Wiz couldn't survive me looking at it funnySassafrass said:The G-Wiz.
Why? I watch too much Top Gear and I hate it because they have brain-washed me.
Plus it's slow and wouldn't survive any major incident faster with anything going faster then 30mph.
The car that should be skipped is any and all electric cars, why waste the time when natural gas and hydrogen are the way to go.
Hehe, you're picking an argument with the wrong person, so I'll just leave you with Hydrogen=plentiful, Natural Gas=plentiful, battery packs=expensive, prone to problems, shortage of materials and other many nice features. Also the charging process takes about 12 hours at the least to get a decent charge from a 120 Volt circuit. Tesla is just pulling numbers from the air again like they always do.brucelee13245 said:snip
The only thing I want to say in this argument is that Tesla can work off of a 240 volt circuit (and 480 volt circuit, if you feel like wiring that in) which would charge quicker.Sleekgiant said:Hehe, you're picking an argument with the wrong person, so I'll just leave you with Hydrogen=plentiful, Natural Gas=plentiful, battery packs=expensive, prone to problems, shortage of materials and other many nice features. It would be fun as hell to drive, but coming in at $5,000,000 apiece to build, it's a goddamn travesty. Engineering experiments are pricey.
