About cat ears... "They're sooooo cute! I want to take them home with me!!!!!"

And if by that you can guess the anime I am referencing, and my favourite character in said anime, then you win plenty of mind cookies. Which I shall beam directly to you. With my miiiind...

[/creepiness]

No, but seriously, cat ears are cute on some characters. If it's done in context, for example Lucy's 'horns' in Elfen Lied, then why should it be a problem? It doesn't detract from the anime as a whole, so why should it matter? If someone like Alucard, in Hellsing, was suddenly to appear with cat ears then I'd be a bit perplexed. Maybe if you stuck cat ears on Seras (from the same anime) then it would be a little different...

My point is don't worry about it, just ignore it, and focus on the anime itself. There's nothing wrong with cat ears. Hell, Kathleen and Tally (of LRR) endorse them, so how can they possibly be bad?

True story: one of the two times I refused an offer of sex occurred when the young lady doing the offering made the offer while dressed as a catholic school-cat-girl. Complete with tail. It was an odd night. First her room mate was propositioning me through the use of Mike's Hard Lemonade bottle caps. Then I got hammered on Rum. Then the school-cat-girl thing happened. Then I needed to go to the bathroom (because I had been drinking heavily and not any other reason), which took me briefly to my room. The whole situation was incredibly weird so rather than return and confront it, I went to bed instead.

I don't know if it was the ears, the tail, the combination, or the dressing like an adolescent combination thereof, or even the fact that I was, for the first time in my life, propositioned by not one but two women that made me flee from the situation.

Because cats are cute, and therefore by extension cat-eared characters are cute. =^^=
There's a girl at my school who proves your transitive property wrong. She wears them every day, and she is by no word, "cute".
OT: Depends on the anime itself. Like how you will never see cat ears in Clannad or Gundam.

YES do that it would be sweet.
Though it would be hard work u.u; Holo's casual pastel outfit would be easier ^.^;

Unless I was to try and find an aluminium ring that red braid and metal hoop at the back of the outfit is going to be a pain when walking ... and possibly horrendously painful if I forget it's there and I sit down x.x
Well thats all logistics I'm sure you can find a way around it, I know nothing about tailoring so I can't be much help but I give you my full support.
. o O [ Maybe theres a tailor on the escapist? ]
Thanks for the support n.n but I know al ittle about a sewing machine ... just need time and patience now ;P

Holy crap, I always thought that picture was fan art, given Horo's lack of visible pants. I guess Manga gets away with more (or at least tries to... maybe wants to?).
Well, Horo is shown fully nude several times throughout the series, and it is invariably sensibly and tastefully handled, so it's not especially strange for her to be half-dressed in some cover art. Besides, pants or no pants, nothing explicit in the picture is shown, nor is any real attention drawn to the state of her clothing.

Also the artist of the manga and light novels has drawn quite a bit of hentai. Not saying that's a factor, or that it has any bearing on Spice and Wolf's creative process, but I'm going to hazard a guess that he would be fine with drawing a little casual nudity for some official art.
She's a wolf-deity of nature and the harvest who can take both (quasi) human-form and wolf form ... why would a wolf deity have some compulsion to cover herself? Other than just to blend in that is...

Besides ... clothes get in the way of the tail.

I believe it originated from the fox-spirit people (Fox Deity apprently) in Japanese Mythology. Pretty much chicks with fox tails, ears and maybe faces. take that, and apply it to a cat.

But I would like to add that cheese is awesome. Video games are awesome. Despite that logic I don't want to pour melted cheese all over my console and have sex with it.

Although...

Weirdest RRoD ever.

Though to be fair, I don't want to eat my XBox like I do cheese.

Cats and girls share one commonality that makes this win: I enjoy petting both. >.>

its basically all based on a cuteness factor really.young cute anime girl is cute yes? give her some fluffy cute cat ears and she is even more adorable, then give her a long cute cat's tail as well then your struggling to look away due to the cuteness but you cant no matter how hard you try.lastly to top it off give her some cat like traits (EI: she says "meow" or for the Japanese "nya" or make her energetic and purr when she is happy ect.) and you will have the ultimate weapon of cuteness and mass destruction! but then again its down to tastes as well, its a love or hate thing to be perfectly honest.

The nerds who like anime are often weak people terrified of women.
So, awoman with the personality of a pet apeals to them.
At least that's the explanation I've heard...
It probably works with the whole Moe demographic. Women, utterly non-threatening and adorable.
