Sometimes you do see some horrifyingly stupid people. I saw someting buying Big Rig truckers, *shudder* I wanted to tell them, but I just couldn't, it's like a train wreck. You don't want to look, but you do anyway.

I also got to see someone who never owned a game system or apparently hadn't thought to check the internet come into a gamestop to complain that his xbox 360 wasn't working. (His disc was in upside down.)

Then there was the guy who put a ds game into his wii thinking it would play it and couldn't get it out again.

And let's not forget my former friend who asked to borrow two of my pokemon games (Yellow and Red) way back and then traded thm in to get a crappy wrestling game. He traded in like 12 games and then still had to pay for it. I was pissed. I even told him that I would have just bought him the damn game if he hadn't traded in my games without even fucking asking me. As you can understand I don't talk to him anymore, he was an idiot.
you considered someone like this your 'friend'
He hadn't done anything stupid before that point. I hadn't realized he was secretly an idiot.

I don't necessarily want to punch some kid in the face, but it does make me chuckle when a 6 year old flips out over a movie based game at Blockbuster only because it has the picture of the movie on it. It actually makes me feel happy for some reason when some 7-9 year wants to buy some random game "just because", because when I was that age I had the most fun gaming.

I'm all for people buying whatever they want, but do they have to block up the whole damn aisle with their relatives? Get your goddamn mum out the way, I'm trying to make a bloody purchase!

Also, if they keep buying half arsed Wii games, the industry will be swamped by cheaply made, bad games which please idiots.

Ok, maybe I'm not in favour of people buying whatever they want. ONLY BUY THE DECENT STUFF YOU BASTARDS.

You should have a license for being allowed to buy games

A lot of people are saying, "ZOMG LIEK WTF I HAET IT WHEN CASAUL GAMERS BYE BAD GAMES"

I'm not sure why;

A) Since when did you become their personal accountants, telling them what to and what not to buy, and

B) When did you get hired as the Fun police? I'm pretty sure if they're buying that 'crappy' game, they'll have fun with it, so what's it to you?

Also, who gives a flying squadron of spoon - wielding camels if you're in the store with soccer moms? Trust me, they don't bite. By spewing all this hatred towards casual gamers and women, all you're doing is reinforcing a common stereotype of gamers: Anti - social, easily angered trolls who despise all contact with anyone who differs from them.

In conclusion; Why do you care who's in the store? Just buy your game and leave, dammit. Stop bitching.
A) If suddenly, a movie studio started releasing films which were only ten minutes long and all with B-Movie actors, but you could press a button to decide what happened in the end, and suddenly everyone you knew was going to see these films except you and some friends who much prefer a real film, you'd be annoyed that these ten-minute decision flicks were killing off real movies.

B) They get in the way

I totally know your feeling on this one. Many a times I have seen/heard some comments that seemed ridiculous to me and I think how in the world?
In the end though it just matters how much fun the derive out of the game.Like when you see someone pick up guitar hero for the first time and they are flailing their arms around screaming about how they cleared "hit me with your best shot" on easy and having the time of their life. (You can giggle, just don't let them see you =3)
i was in hmv just after rock band came out and some dude was well pleased with himself for passing creep by radiohead on easy on drums and his bird was as equally impressed. i went up and hammered run to the hills by iron maiden on hard (that song is IMPOSSIBLE on expert!) and he just stood there lookng embarrassed with himself lol

I'd have been pretty embarrassed too.

Casual gamers and their parents are always entertainment in game stores. Just go into excrutiating (and possibly slightly overdone) lingo about a game, and watch their eyes glaze over in sheer boredom :D

Now if they dare open their mouth to utter useless and pointless questions, then yes, they deserve a fist to the face. Especially the soccer moms and their little bitchy, whiny children who never seem to understand the meaning of "Shut up you little twirp, because mommy ain't gonna buy you GTA when you're five years old"

BECAUSE SHE WILL!!!!

Gah! People today don't need education... they need a slap off the side of the head from Mr. Common Sense >.> If that happened, then they'd realize the sanctity of a gaming store and perhaps not defile it with "casual games". Which is really just another word for "games so piss-easy that your mother could play them".

I'm telling people, why their choice is bad, when it's really bad. Some time ago, I stopped some guy from buying Iron Man on PC, and I'm proud of it. Instead, I showed him Gears of War (the guy was 16 years old, btw).

Best response to people who are buying crappy games is: "You either are foolishly rich, or rich in foolishness to buy that."

These 'casual gamers' are normal people. You know, the people that get to have sex with women. Sometimes, these people like to buy video games because they want to turn their brains off and kill stuff for a while. Y'all can go back to jerking yourselves off to japanese cartoon porn and diligently reading your gamer magazines, I'm going to go get some head from my real life girlfriend.
I've noticed that the two furthest extremes when it comes to gamers are 'hardcore' gamers (who seem to believe that anyone who can't get into the top 10 of any online scoreboard are somewhat inferior), they will useually hurl abuse about the other guy/gal being a noob and how they raped them last night on Halo (they take it far too seriously).

On the other end of the scale you will get the people who have an almost fanatical hatred of gamers/nerds/people with either a pc or console. They seem to take a rather black and white view of: if you play games, then you are automatically a social reject who never see sunlight (or other people for that matter) and are extremely petty (we are at fanboy alert 5). They will often use the stereotype that gamers are inept when it comes to relations with the opposite sex (with the other typical observation of these poor fellows having to resort to porn/erotic anime) while they, the 'normal' people, are happily engaged in a sexually active relationship (we take their word on that).

Then you get the people in the middle of these extremes who don't really care, shrug their sholders and get back to whatever they were doing.
It seems that most people here are in the middle then, I don't see anone (excpet a few flamers) insulting anyone, especially about the quality of gaming skills, but at the same time we all care more about games than your average prson - because we use these forums.

The question is, did the guy's woman give you head after that?

Elitist gamers make our entire culture look bad.

Download your games off the net if you can't deal with it.

I don't have anything against newcomers to gaming (as mentioned earlier, we all had to start somewhere), but surely if you are going to work at a gaming shop, a prerequisite is knowledge of the industry, isn't it? I was in EB about a year ago, and an employee was showing some guys around the PS3 area. They say they want something with good co-op (they already had Rainbow Six: Vegas, so the options were already limited), then she points out Heavenly Sword, claiming "you could take turns at it". No joke at all. Gobsmacked doesn't do my reaction credit.

it's not like there are any good options.

hahaha in this case that isn't an insult but a compliment; after all, that's what these games aim for ;)

It's the oblivious ones I'd like to punch. Not because I'm better than them(I was the same way once), but because they don't really care what they're getting. It's like buying a car based only on looks and what the dealer says.
why aren't they allowed to not-care? I'm sure there's a lot of stuff you're using, but still oblivious about? Maybe what kind of clothes you wear, or what kind of bananas you eat, or what company provides you internet, or like buying a car indeed (I would fit your description: looks + dealer, I don't care) or whatever

Also, if they keep buying half arsed Wii games, the industry will be swamped by cheaply made, bad games which please idiots.
if 'idiots' stands for 'people not a clone of myself' then yes, the world is full of idiots enjoying others games than you are

Yes. But it would be really lame & stupid of me if I would blame the people who enjoy those for it.

It's so painful seeing someone in a store picking up a load for crap games, usually some film tie in or something terrible like that, and not even glancing at Bioshock or The Orange Box. You just want to say, 'Why are you going to punish your Xbox/PS3 with those games?!
Also, some employees don't know anything. i asked a guy, 'Can you use mods on UT3 for the 360?' and he stared at me blankly, wondering what a mod was.

Good god, i'm such a nerd.

I'm sure someone else has the same thoughts about your choice of clothes/food/music/furniture
