Remember when there used to always be those threads where people would complain how there weren't any old users anymore, and everybody had a join date newer than so-and-so? Well, we don't have that problem anymore! Nearly everybody who still posts here has a join date older than 2013 with most being 2008-2011.

I just checked the first page of each thread on the first page of Off-Topic and tallied everybody who had a join date from 2014-2015:

Total Posts: 539
Posts from users with join dates 2014-2015: 58
Individual users with join dates 2014-2015: 35
Percentage of posts from users with join dates 2014-2015: 10%

For comparison I did the same thing with the first page of Off-Topic from August 16, 2011 [http://web.archive.org/web/20110816093450/http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/index/18-Off-topic-Discussion]:

Total Posts: 602
Posts from users with join dates 2010-2011: 356
Percentage of posts from users with join dates 2010-2011: 59%

So how do you feel about winning the war against the newbies?

At last, final victory!

In the sense that they all metaphorically went next door to the reeking cesspit that is the GID forum.

So, hurrah?

I'm sensing high levels of what is either Sarcasm or Salt. Possibly both.

Woo hoo! Victory in a war I wasn't aware that I was fighting. And all I had to do was join in 2010? Yes, petty victories are the best.

Alas, when the Gamergate war broke out, the newbies were the first to go. Who would want to come into a forum environment like that? At-least now that has died down and is contained in the GID province, perhaps we can have our own forum baby boom. Though I think the Escapist has past it's peak population, Yahtzee hasn't been drawing the crowds like he used to (his videos now being hosted on YouTube may be partly to blame for this) and the loss of Jim and Bob last year demolished the video content here even further. Unless they find another crowd pleaser, we old Escapists may reign on indefinitely.

I don't really care one way or the other, to be honest.

Hell, it wasn't that long ago that *I* was a 'newbie' on this forum. I still think of myself that way from time to time, it's a difficult mindset to shake.

There's another interesting thing you could tally: Tally the thread view counts on page 1 of Off-Topic and page 1 of Gaming Discussion, and compare the totals with the tallied view count total of page 1 of GID, and then tell me which board gets the most traffic.
(You'll probably want to disqualify any sticky threads for the purpose of this, otherwise they'll skew the results, badly.)

This seems to me like it would be a bad thing, and also like it would be connected to the recurring complaints about the pace on the forums having slowed down these last few years.

You could, then, also view it as a victory for the "others". We're just the people that got left behind.

What about those like me, shouldn't you ask about how we feel for losing? Or are you assuming we feel nothing cause we all died from the war? Was this war LoTR style, or more futuristic dystopia style of war? Either way, I shall haunt you for assuming a ghost from some arbitrary war is not capable of feeling, and you shall feel my distaste for the lack of release details for Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter release details.

Whoooooooooooooo, fear me!

I wasn't even aware that there was a war going on to be honest. I feel like a relative newbie on these forums at times, possibly because I tend to lurk more than I post.

Yeah, uhh... I don't know if I'd call this a good thing...

I mean, that suggests there aren't many in the way of new people showing up, or sticking around if they do.

That's bad for the future of the site, even if it's a 'win' for us 'oldies'...

Still, nearly all of my original friends have left.
Nearly everyone I know now joined at least 3 years after I did. (There might be an exception or two, but in general... Yeah. >_>)

Granted, not all of them have actually left, but they don't spend much time here...

Ah, this feeling of relief is what I have waited for for so long.
At long last we can stand proud with our wisdom we have gathered over the years!

Lose 1d20 sanity points.
Kinda sad really, means ye olde forum is dying, but most of the content creators left so it makes sense, what is even drawing traffic here anymore?

I mean I come because I've been here for like one million years and I guess it's a habit to watch ZP, Critical Miss and Erin Dies Alone are things I read too and I've always like Shamus Young's Experienced Points column even if it keeps getting axed and coming back over and over again and I read Marter's movie reviews but that's kind of it, no more LRR [footnote]Unskippable, LoadingReadyRun, Feed Dump and an assortment of other shows that were all discontinued before way before they left.[/footnote], no more Moviebo[footnote]Like it or not he had 2 shows and a column and he drew in traffic.[/footnote], no more Jim Sterling[footnote]Besides being an editor and doing the Jimquisition he did those other videos with Yahtzee and stuff, definitely one that brought in traffic.[/footnote] and no more Miracle of Sound[footnote]Fairly relevant indie musician even if he's not really famous.[/footnote], that's not even mentioning the ones that left before and the ones I probably forgot, so you know there's way less reasons to come here than there used to be.

You've always got me CrystalShadow. I'll still be around until the final entropic act of the last atom in the universe.
..probably..
Who am I? I'm the friendly neighbourhood forum lurker.

OT: Yay, we won!!..except, I'm part of the "others" yet also "us"..Ambivalent victory for the win?

Hah. XD

I'll try to remember that. ^_^

I'll probably be around nearly as long. I mean, if I'm here, posting stupid things even after having lost all faith in the site in 2012...
I think it'll take a miracle to get rid of me. XD

Almost all of my friends have left. Once active groups have expired almost entirely and I find myself rather alone in the world of The Escapist!

I liked new people, honestly.

Uh...

Congratulations, I guess?

I wasn't aware there was even a competition.

EDIT: And LordLundar is right (if you're being serious); that does come off as pretty hostile.
