I have a good story involving my cell phone and its ringtone.
My old cell phone was a piece of junk. It had a habit of doing things that I did not want it to do, such as turning the volume of the ringer to the maximum.
Do you see where this is going?
One day at a University of Florida summer program, I was sitting in a lecture hall along with a hundred other student waiting for the guest speaker to arrive. The guest speaker was a famous (in her field) lady geologist. Nominated for the Nobel Prize, won numerous awards, wrote many papers, etc. She came in, and we all got out our books to take notes with. She started talking and we started taking notes, like we always did. Then it happened.
"WELL I'M NOT PARALYZED BUT I SEEM TO BE STRUCK BY YOU..!"
My stupid cellphone was playing "Paralyzer" by Finger Eleven at maximum volume. Everyone in the room swung towards me as I frantically opened my satchel and began digging for my phone. I turned it off and kept my head down, red-faced, as the famous scientist glared at me as though I had just inected her with Ebola.
Oh well. At least it was a good song. My old ringtone had been the "Crazy Chicken Clucking" one. Imagine if that one had been blurted out.
