Quite a simple question if you had to be transported back in time to any century and place of your choosing which would it be and why? The conditions are that you would not be able to interfere with the natural course of that civilization so for instance you could not prevent Julius Caeser from being assasinated or introduce technology from our time (think prime directive). Although you may choose your profession and status in the society. Just to prevent any spoilsports the late and middle 20th century is not availabe, enjoy the discussion

Why can't I go forward in time? I want those Ghost in the Shell full body prosthetics. Those look badass. But fine, if I can't be there, can I be transported to the rediculously romantacized ancient Japanese village from the final short film from Akira Kurasawa's Dreams? That place looked like a nice place to live.

2nd Century Roman Empire. Not only is there peace but, there are roads, sewers and cities so sophiscated that they beat anything right up to the early modern period.

Sorry. Totally dig your reasoning though :p Perhaps OP will let you be a chemist in the late 19th century, and you can discover acid yourself? Doubt it though, he doesn't seem to want any significant changes made to history.

These questions depress me. I'm a chick, so, living in any time before the 1980's would suck balls for me. I don't get to join in the fun. This is all men's fault!

Just kidding. Either way I wouldn't want to live in a time without the internet. Or running water. Toilets are fantastic.

Right now, or perhaps the future. (if it's not a wasteland by then) Seriously, the past sucks. One of the only places I would really even want to visit, would be Renaissance Italy, to see the culture and perhaps meet Leonardo da Vinci.

I wouldn?t, ever.
Sure it?s nice to look back at, interesting, but you don?t actually want to be there.

That was actually a modern village that simply decided to forgo technology, sort of like the Amish.
