Characters everyone seems to hate but you

We've all had them. We play a game, take a liking to a character, only to find out most other people that played the same game hated them.

What are some of the characters you like while majority of other people hate them?
I have a tendency to like a lot of the characters no one else does. And I have no idea why.

Mine would be Steve (Resident Evil), Tidus (Final Fantasy X), and Vaan (Final Fantasy XII). An honorable mention would be Nowe (Drakengard 2). But every now and then, I'll come across people who liked him too. xD

...People don't like Nowe? Guess that's my answer then.

Yeah, I've met a lot of Nowe haters. Usually because "he's so different from Caim, whiny, weak, etc." I dunno.

Also, people dislike Penelo? Why? I know she wasn't the most important character to the plot, but I didn't think she was bad.

I was always an enormous fan of Sander Coen, of Bioshock. It's weird, I didn't expect him to be particularly disliked, but everyone I've spoken too, with the exception of maybe 4 people, found him wildly irritating, and "sort of creepy"... I thought he was sort of awesome, due to his obvious insanity and his interesting view of art.

My friends and I also make a point of quoting "The Happy Bunny" on a regular basis...

I can't say I've met any Nowe haters, probably because I haven't met anyone else who has played Drakengard 2. But personally, Nowe has never come off as whiny to me. Different from Caim definitely, but I think that's what the developers were going for. After all, who would want a copy of the character from the previous game?

I didn't mind Penelo at all, I actually liked her since she reminds me of my little sister. ^_^

Ive seen a lot of hate for Carol from Tales of Vesperia. I dont know why people hate him even if he is a bit cowardly at the start, but he grows out of that by the end... well mostly. Also am i the only one who found Nan and Rita hot?

Barry from Resident Evil. He may be a minor part of the game and only remembered for a stupid quote, but he sure got a good gun and some good aiming skill when he blasts off that zombie's head in the start... Sadly that's also where my game freezes and I spend a minute listening to the sound of the clock that's ticking in the background and a small part of me dies a little...

Tidus, Yuffie, Daisy. The first two are always coming up in the least favourite posts here and the last one seems mostly hated by my friends.

Ken from Persona 3, He gets flack for bring a little kid and maybe what he did to Shinji but he has a sad back story and can be dead useful in battle.


Also Karol from Tales of Vesperia, yeah he falters a bit in the second act but to me he's a kid character done right. He matures accordingly and doesn't stay annoying. He reminds me a bit of Pressa from Symphonia and I loved Pressa.

Karol was really fun, loved that guy, wouldn't be the same without him, as a character to play with he wasn't that good, but he had me laughing more than once through he game. Rita and Nan hot? Uhm, they're anime characters, but as far as that stretches I guess Rita is a little hot.

I'm one of few people on the internet who doesn't hate Shinji. Seriously, if you've been through what he has you'd be screwed up too. Hell, he's not that bad until End.

Also, from my playing Tales of Symphonia I seem to fall squarely into the pro-Colette camp.

Anyway... I do like the Tranquil from Dragon Age: Origins.

Reaver from Fable 2, absolutely <3 him, then I found out it was Stephen Fry voicing him and liked him even more. I like Garth too, but I don't know whether people dislike him...

Beyond that I have no idea...

Jigglypuff, Mr. Game & Watch, King Dedede and Ice Climbers. Those four characters my friends hate from SSBB, so it's the exact reason why I use them.

EDIT: And Raiden too (MGS2). I thought he was kinda cool.

Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto he's blamed for leaving so he could get stronger to kill his older brother who killed all of Sasuke's relatives and made Sasuke watch it twice when he was seven. THEN when he finally kills his brother who as he then finds out killed Sasuke's family on orders from the village he comes from. You know if that happened to me I would want to destroy the village I mean Afro has half the sad story but everyone supports him killing thousands granted I like Afro but nevertheless
