Pretty much every single cutesy squeaky PC from any Final Fantasy or similar game ever. Hell, remove the "Final Fantasy or similar" part. They exist in stuff like SSX too...

I don't understand why you'd include un-ignorable characters whose only mission, it seems, is to annoy the crap out of the player. Maybe it's to give youngsters, particularly girls, someone to identify with. But I disliked them even at that age, and I don't think I'd have been too enamoured as a juvenile female either.

The main characters from Robert A. Heinleins "The moon is a harsh mistress". Those colonists just pissed me off.

Aerith from FF7. :| Though maybe we aren't supposed to like her after all...

And. Well I don't really liek Mario to be honest. I mean his games are fun but he's kind of shallow and pointless and I don't see the appeal of playing as some fat plumber dude. If he's not going to be likable he should at least be good looking. Or something. :|

I don't really like Sonic as a character much either. :| Tails is way more likable honestly. Sonic talks like he is the shit but he really has done nothing to prove he is the shit other than being an egotistical bastard with corny dialogue. Which kind of only proves he is the bad kind of shit...

.....who else do I despise that I am supposed to love?

Well. Teddy from P4 THOUGH I get the feeling we aren't supposed to love him at all (but then when I see his human form I just really start to question that all over again. WHY IS HE A BISHONEN NOW?) Maybe the people at Atlus are just sadistic assholes ;~: or something. Or maybe it was to offset the handful of amazing characters. I... just don't know. I guess he's kind of the type you love to hate though.... I guess. He does make things interesting.. sort of. In the way that makes me want to throw things at the television, but interesting nonetheless.

Alright I think I'm done complaining. :3

Final Fantasy Tactics - Rafa and Malak. Most useless characters in the entire damned game.

The Dark Tower series - All of this foreshadowing as some dark, evil force in the Stephen King universe...and the Crimson King just throws homing grenades which reference a Harry Potter item?

Heroes - The Japanese guy...is the most annoying character ever created by the human mind.

Mace Windu - What purpose did you serve as a character? Great death scene, but never did he impact the story at all.

Despise is a wrong word. But I'm REALLY annoyed at the girl from The Event. Her fiancé is working his ass of to find her sister, and at every fork in the road, event that requires thinking or anything, boom. The tears flow.

I mean. Your BF is driving you around in your magical SUV that only takes a couple hours to get anywhere in the southern United States and never needs to pay for gas. Your only holding him back.

Mary Poppins. Can't stand the *****! She stops innocent little kids from having too much fun!
Y'know the scene where they're at the old man's house and they start laughing and they float up to the ceiling? She gets mad and basically tells them there's such a thing as too much fun... what a *****!

Anyone seen the movie Legion? Don't, by the way, if you haven't. The good bits are probably on Youtube, and good is a relative term here.

Anyway, there's a husband and wife in the movie, and at first the wife seems mildly bitchy. Mean to her slightly rebellious daughter, kind of irritating, that sort of thing. It's all okay though, as I'm getting this vibe that she'll learn her lesson and become awesome once the viscous muder-angels the trailers promised show up.

Well, one does, and bites her husband in the neck. Actually rips a chunk out too, none of that wimpy vampire bullshit. Instead of comforting her daughter she just sort of lays about and bitches at people. Alright, I think, gritting my teeth. Her husband did just get his neck ripped open, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. More angels show up, and the restaurant where all the characters are staying is boarded up. One apparently good angel shows up, and promptly pretends to be a bad-ass. The others go along with it, because he does have all the guns.

After a series of increasingly stupid or unmemorable events, the murder-angels crucify her husband outside the place. He's quite clearly dead, and covered in boils and nasty shit. The dumb ***** runs out to, I don't know, pop his boils? I don't if she has a plan beyond exposing the last humans on earth to attack. The only reasonably cool character runs after her, and grabs her just in time for her husband to explode into acid, killing the cool character and my interest in the movie, and leaving alive the ***** and my hatred of the movie.

The other characters, catching on to her craziness, tie her up. I would have put two shots in her head and tossed her off the roof, but hey, I'm not an angel. I think an angel would have ripped her to shreds, if the angels in this movie are any indication.

Her teenaged daughter, having seen her dad explode and melt a dude, and her mom reveal herself to be a crazy *****, goes to talk to her for comfort, apparently not remembering the crazy ***** part. Instead of coming together as mother and daughter, the mom blames the girl for the whole thing, cementing her place in "horrible monster of a person" history forever. I re-watched the part where she gets eventually shot ten times. In a row.

Every playable character of FF13 whose name isnt Lightning or Fang
This so hard.

Also, this one is obvious, but Bella from Twilight. Watched the movie with Rifftrax, and all I could think about was, "God, she's such a dick to her friends." They're all nice and fun and want to hang out with her (God knows why, but they do), but she just blows them all off like they're tedious and beneath her. It's not like she's a victim of bullying; these kids genuinely like her, for whatever reason, but she never expresses so much as an iota of positivity or friendliness towards them. GOD BEING POPULAR IS SUCH A DRAIN!

Sooo..does anyone else dislike Bowser? I don't GET why he's so damned popular, apperantly because of how he's been portrayed in the RPG's and spin-off games, he's a loveable underdog who just gets unfair trouncing's by an obsese Plumber. Um, hello? Reality check, guy's a giant evil lizard whose original motive for kidnapping Peach was so he could take over her kingdom. That's the general story as far I understand it from the very first Mario game.

Kaiden Alenko from Mass Effect. If you have been to these types of threads with me then you know why.
I kill him EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. At least Ashley had dimensions as a character, even if she was an overt racist. Kaiden was just... there. And wasn't useful as a squad character, either. Nope. Easy choice, every time.
I actually really like Kaidan - he is a subtle character and, having used him in my squad pretty much constantly, I can tell you that the combination of tech and biotics adds great flexibility to any team.

In terms of characters I dislike (but am clearly meant to like): Anna, the protagonist from L.E. Modesitt Jr's The Soprano Sorceress. She's a singer who feels underappreciated for her talents, so being magically summoned to a fantasy world where music equals magic is right up her street. She's called upon to fight in a war where she has no real context for knowing the rights and wrongs of the situation, yet she uses her new magic to kill many people nonetheless. Having no way of knowing if she is killing for a cause that could, in some small way, justify her awful actions, she still does it. The author never really seems to engage with this gaping moral void, writing the story in a simple heroic style that I find utterly repulsive in its amorality. And the writing style portrays anyone who doesn't like her as an evil jerk - so, since I didn't like her, I felt like the book was basically calling me a bad, mean person by inference. Awful.

Nynaeve from the Wheel of Time was actually my favourite character in the first book, but the way in which she was written took a nosedive as the series went on. She became a parody of herself. Thankfully, her characterisation has since been saved and I can enjoy reading about her again. :)

Nobody can take Bowser seriously, and the stuff about Mario being the bad guy is supposed to be a joke.

Wow, long thread. Okay...who do I hate?

{1} Let's start with the ENTIRE cast of Final Fantasy 8, straight down to the last monster. There was a plot happening here and all of you - YES, ALL OF YOU! - failed to deliver. You were unlikeable, snobby, idiotic, unsympathetic, unrealistic, and just PLAIN pathetic. I don't like anyone in this game. It's a bag of tricks thrown together rather poorly and, judging by the way of things, there seems to be some law that every four Final Fantasy games will seem lacking in my eye (if not the eye of others).

{2} While we're at it, let's pwn Naruto, the whole damn show. Are there any REAL ninjas in this cast? Seems like nobody here actually seems to follow the basic rules here, like how you have to be QUIET!! And while some of you here might like some of the characters in the show, I condemn it all on the virtue that a few good ones cannot drive the rest of the bad. Sorry, but I got tired of this pretty darn fast. All the GOOD characters - whoever they are - should've been pulled out so it could fail properly and END.
