Cliff from Dead Rising and Ted from Dead Rising 2. The only characters I have ever felt bad about killing.

I know it wasn't necessarily manditory, but in Halo: Combat Evolved, there was a marine who had gone psycho, and was about to kill himself, but if you waited long enough he would start shooting at you.

I killed him the first time, and I still kinda feel sad about it.
There is an occurrence like that in Halo Reach. I think it is one one of the towers in the Falcon mission, the one that after the player blows up the generator, swarms of buggers come in. That was pain on legendary. I just swiftly cracked the guy in the head with a melee hit and moved on. I felt nothing, it was war, no time for panicking.

--------

I can't think of any characters I wish I didn't have to kill.

Well, you do have the choice to simply have him escape once you free him.

One major difference there buddy. The guy in reach never turns the gun on you. The guy in Halo:CE did. There's a big difference between somebody who is panicking, and somebody who has had such mental trauma that they can't rationalize reality anymore.

Well since I refuse to play the game and not end up being queen it breaks my heart that I have to kill Loghain Mac Tir. The guy was really was doing what he truly believed was best for his people. He grew up under Orlesian oppression and fought tooth and nail and shed blood to liberate Ferelden from them. So what's a man to think when the Chevaliers start knocking at his border?

Overly paranoid? Perhaps. Heavy handed? Definitely. But Loghain only ever did what he thought was necessary to protect his people, so it makes me sad to chop his head off. But I do get to be queen! Get in, mate!

Poor guy never got his skul-gun.
And he never got to find out if the vending machine attendants where involved in a conspiracy to only give him "ORange"... He wanted lemon-lime. Poor Günther.

I am surprised nobody said the Colossi from Shadow of the Colossus.

Really people....? How can you live with yourselves?
I'd bet that some of you are more than willing to stab the Grand Canyon in the eye or jab the Wall of China in the heart if any of them were just walking around minding their own business.

I felt really really bad about killing Dwayne in GTAIV. I thought going with Playboy x was going to yield more cool missions, but he just up and left afterward. Next playthrough he fucking got it tho.
You know, I couldn't think of anyone until you mentioned this, and then I was like "Ohhhh yeah. Fuck Playboy X, that stupid douchebag!"

It sucks, because I was an idiot and actually believed that Dwayne was going to betray me or something. I actually felt guilty right before I pulled the trigger, and like shit right after.

And if I recall correctly, Playboy X talks down to you right after! Man, did I ever want to kill that asshole, but I only played through the game once.

That's why I didn't kill him. I turned him over to the Circle of Mages, so they could kill him. It's not on my conscience.

The Boss in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Made all the more jarring by the fact that the entire ending sequence after her boss battle (except for the couple of seconds duel with Ocelot on the WIG) is a cutscene, switching back to the player's control only so you have to pull the trigger yourself. Damn you, Kojima!

Man, he was awesome. Why couldn't he just be let go like Raynor was?
This, a thousand times this. Plus, Duke. He was a bastard, yeah, but an entertaining one at least.

Yeah, but I didn't know about that until after I had saved. Oops.

Glados... She was cool

And that Ronin guy from Saints Row 2

The one Gat buries alive, yeah he was a dick but burial? Not cool man...
at first I would have been more than happy to kill shogo...but then as things go on you see his relatiobship with his father and its just sad, and in the end even though what he did was really stupid, he did it because he was angry and not thinking straight, (because no one in their right mind would piss off gat like that)

anyway I get the feeling that his death was a shout-out to kill bill

well of coarse theres benny, for some reason I felt bad about killing him when I realised he wasnt the real bad guy, the legion was they would have crucified him anyway

When you investigate some miscomunications between ranger stations, it all leads back to the guy who is head of the rangers, when you meet him he seems like an experienced veteran and a very down to earth guy

anyway its reveiled that he send out all the miscomunications to cause problems, Im not sure but I think it was because he didnt want the NCR to fight the legion becuse he belived they had no chance, I think he wanted them to pull out or somthing,

anyway your given the option of covering the whole thing up or getting him to turn himself in, sadly if you turn him in He gives on last speech before commiting suicide....even though its nto your fault Id rather not cover it up

One of the saddest moments in gaming.

I also hated killing Lance Vance in Vice City. Sure, he betrays you, but he was a really cool guy. It kind of sucks that the game ended the way it did.

In KoTOR, it really sucked how things turned out with Karth. I was hoping to get him to join the Dark Side, but, nooo, he had to be a good guy and uphold the light. Same with Jolee and Mission. It felt bad ordering the wookie to kill her.
