Only 39 percent? Where are these people?

I know that everyone in my school believes in evolution. Then again, I live in New York City. I assume most of the people who don't believe in the theory live in the south.
>only 39 per cent of Americans believe in the theory of evolution

It is unbelievable to us that this is still a really hot potato in America. There's still a great belief that He made the world in six days. It's quite difficult for we in the UK to imagine religion in America. We live in a country which is no longer so religious. But in the US, outside of New York and LA, religion rules.

What's wrong with a movie being controversial? Last time I checked this was a good thing.
Indeed. There's nothing like a good bit of controversy to get the Zeitgeist going.

Oh goddamnit, I was wanting to watch this film. Why, why, WHY does the "Passion" get to come out without any heat, yet they can't show the other side of the story?
They have GOD on their side. :p

Meh its just a film, it wouldn't kill would it? Just a statement below the title of the movie, Not for the religiously close minded.

To be fair it should be noted that only 25% of Americans don't believe in evolution by the same poll. Fully 36% either didn't have an opinion or choose not to express it.

You can always count on the Yanks to inject mind-numbing stupidity into a situation.

I laugh derisively at people who slam down on the theory of evolution as being a load of crap that's full of holes, yet I can destroy 90% of pro-Christian arguments on almost any subject by simply stating "circular logic" at them.

That is what makes it so sad... that people will throw shit at sound scientific theory, yet expect a load of nonsensical crap written in some mouldy old book called "the Bible" to be flawless and absolute.

WOW!
Wow wow wow wow wow.
Evolution = unproven, and is directly related to Hitler?
DAMN IT!
I always go on about common sense and it turns out I've been all this time.

Ok, being serious.
That's ridiculous!
It makes me that much more ashamed to be an American citizen.
Damn it all, I'm moving to Japan.

Wow. I'm a creationist Christian and I'd be completely fine with this movie coming out. I might even see it myself. At this stage I would like to point out that it's just a minority of over zealous Christian extremists that give the rest of us a bad name. Most of us are pretty neat.
(Same thing happens to Muslims.)

I do not take the creation story literally. God created the Universe and everything in it in six days. That could very well be the case, however the bible also says a day in heaven lasts a thousand years on Earth. So that could mean God started the big bang and allowed the Universe to form that way. There is also the fact Genesis 2 is a more in depth description of the creation of man. There are also mentions in Genesis of other people and nations besides the ones that came from Adam and Eve.

As a Christian, it is not important to me HOW I got here, what matters (and should matter to everyone else) is what we do WHILE we are here. The point is we will never know for sure until we can actually ask God.

Darwin's theory of species adapting to their environments to survive is true. Like how humanity created dogs. Plants have changed over the years as well I think. The world is constantly changing and evolving. Yet that is part of life, the strong survive and addapt to their environment or face extinction.

tl;dr. I look at all sides of an arguement and make my mind up with what I've read in the bible and what I have learned in Science. I believe both can exist side by side in our world.

From what I've read about the film it's not going to be focused on "Pushing" Evolution, and is going to focus mainly on the story of Darwin's life, and how he copes with the death of his Daughter.

Dammit America, I love you but stop doing stupid things like this, have some courage and publish it.

The same reason it's okay to bash Islam, Christians just won't shut up about it.Hell If the Holocaust never happened we'dd start taking verbel pot shots at the Jews. Note: I'm not, in any way, praiseing the Holocaust. Second note: not all christians are bad just the really vocal ones.
