But apparently, if you don't enjoy things, you're a homophobe. Hurr.

When the writer claimed ME3 has "a variety of different endings", however... it's only accurate in the sense that there's a very limited variety of slightly different endings.
And it was a very "gay" array of endings. RAINBOW ENDINGS!

Wait, it should have 3 more...

If you didn't make your Shepard gay Lesbian or bisexual It wasn't even In the story. Therefore the shoehorning argument can only be made if you played as a LGBT Shepard, and If you did and STILL think it was shoehorned in, YOU were the one doing the shoe horning and have no-one to blame but yourself. *Groan* As much as I hate to reference the prick, its on Jimquisition and he makes a good point. Seriously, The shoehorn/closet homophobe argument is a load of Bollocks.
You can cut it with the name calling, I don't have a fear of homosexuals.

I agree that people should stop being so prudish about LGBT, but his commentary on Star Wars made me repeatedly headdesk. Star Wars was conspicuously devoid of sex at large, kissing being the absolute farthest the series ever showed. As an Expanded Universe nut, I also know for a fact how straight Luke is... Mara Jade is equal parts awesome and blatant fanservice.
Are you being serious? Because I promise you, Brooker wasn't. 'Tis called satire, good sir.

OT: Damn good article, Brooker at his usual sarcastic self. He had a little bit of a rant about this on the last episode of 10 O'Clock Live, but I'm too lazy to scrat about on youtube finding it.
I didn't get the joke then, and I never heard of the guy. Like most posters, I was brought in by the headline and read the article with no prior knowledge. It's cool that it's satire, but that was not readily apparent.

Pretty amusing article, even if I was disappointed that he felt the need to shoehorn "GAMERZ DON'T LEIK SAD ENDING, DEMAND HAPPY ONE" in there.

Charlie Brooker's latest column in the Guardian makes for spectacular reading.

Some people are gay in space. Get over it
Video game players can now identify their characters as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. Which is wonderful, unless you're a sad homophobe.

Thanks for sharing this, that article just made my day. Bravo.

(I'm making a sweeping generalization)Not really, I love the fashion industry and it would be very hard for me to "avoid" gay guys from entering my life.

Do you have any proof that I feel this way? Because I never said I would harass a couple walking down the street. As for your religious comment, religion has no affect on how I view homosexuality.

Hey Charlie, just calm down for a minute. I may be a homophobe, but im not sad, ok? Ya dig? Im fucking happy! Look at me! WOOT! HAPPY! STOP SUCKING DICK!

No, seriously. Im getting increasingly fed up of people stating the obvious. Yeah, no shit, you need to get over it. Yeah, no shit, being gay is ok. Do we really need ANOTHER fucking 10 paragraphs to explain this to Guardian readers who are, in all likeliness, already very tolerant and/or encouraging of homosexuality?

One day im going to open a news site with headlines like: "Breaking news: Humans breath." and make millions.
Until the last homophobe is ok with a man slapping his cock into another man's face, articles like this should and will be written. Even if it's a battle you don't give two fucks about, it shouldn't stop appearing.

"children and teens, who never thought any way but heterosexual, are now given a choice to be lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender... even if they chose to be straight, they would still be forced to deal with lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender characters chosen by other players"

Ho no! A real world issue! What ever will we do we must make all people in all works of fiction straight so they never encounter... BUT WAIT! they exist FOR FUCKING REAL how are we going to deal with this... kill all gays? Yes! but how? The gods of Mass Effect clearly do not oppose it what about Tamriel did the liberals ban Talos worship because Talos condemned gays? No? ... what is that? You say the universes I mention are not real? Absurd! Simply absurd!

In the US there have been several murders where homophobic killers were acquitted or received extremely lenient sentences because their victims were homosexual, and sometimes alledgedly tried to flirt with them.

It's become known as the 'gay panic defense [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_panic_defense]'.

You'd think this would instantly make sentences much more severe as it's a confession tp the crime being a hatecrime, but people have been acquitted from murder because of it in the US.

If that's the sad state of affairs, we shouldn't be surprised that there's hatemongers in the US who can't withstand a bunch of scripted pixels flirting either.
That Wiki article doesn't give any examples of that defense working in court in the US, and a quick Google search doesn't yield any results of it ACTUALLY working in the past twenty years.

It's not that bad in the US, and it's getting far, far better.

Ya know Volf, you're a funny guy. You frequently say things I don't agree with... But then you are generally just so damn reasonable about everything. You never seem to lose your temper. You've shown that you can admit you're wrong with good grace, but aren't afraid to stand up for what you believe in. But then... I don't agree with you... I'm just not sure what to think of you.

Take that as you will. It might have been a compliment... I'm not really sure...

OT: The article was hilarious. Even though I didn't like his views on the ending of ME3 I could definitely still laugh at the whole thing.
