Chavs: How far have they spread?

I described the typical chav to a few people in Australia when I was over there - they apparently call them "douchebags".

Those Aussies taking the American nickname for chavs.

So yeah "douches" "douchebags" "douchefags" and "fucktards" are all pretty regular fair for our nicknames for 'em in Iowa. We're a pretty vulgar bunch of farmers, to be honest.

Also, "fag" isn't even used as a derogatory term for gay people anymore. Someone who's completely cool with homosexuality will still use it, just because it's our equivalent to douche now, I suppose.

Plenty of them here in Northampton however there are also a lot more wannabe chavs that I have seen compared to a lot of other places.

We do seem to have a large amount of them here, more if you factor in certain areas. Combine the way they speak with our horrible local accent and they are truly annoying indeed.

From what I've seen, Poland seems to have a fair few aswell.

Can't call all chavs bad though. Even though every time I've been involved in some sort of violent altercation, or my friends have been attacked, it has been with chavs, quite a few are actually alright. It's just a style they choose based on the community they come from and the music they listen to.

If you want to see something funny, go to a Supermarket at around midnight, they all congregate there with their "pimped" out Ford Fiestas or VW Golfs and tear around the car parks.

If you're a British teenager they will make your life hell. Especially someone like me with long hair/doesn't follow the mainstream.

You do, just a slightly different one.
I try not to generalise, but generally they're alright if you just leave em too it. However the trouble is that at the rate they're expanding the minority who cause trouble is quickly turning into quite a sizeable amount.
The best thing to do is just not to associate with them, I swear you feel yourself becoming more stupid just by being around them
