Child porn charges were filed against a 21 year old for editing a video to make it look like he was singing a dirty song to a buch of first graders as a comedy bit. He faces 20 years in prison and 25 years on the sex offender with "producing child porn" on his record.

This is pretty fucking scary; arrested on CHILD PORN charges for editing a video to make it SEEM like 6 year olds were listening to his song? And put on the sex offender list? And people are claiming he should go to jail for something that didn't happen?

This is the shit you get when you start putting limits on personal liberties. You get a comedian in prison for NOT... NOT exposing kids to explicit lyrics, and you get dense assholes making him appear to be a child corrupting monster. This is just a different form of the "Cartoon porn should be illegal" argument

The Man Show actually had a child approach women in a sketch where he was asking them for sex. MADTV and SNL have had a lot of sketches that made it appear kids where exposed to sexual things. Hell the video I uploaded a few days ago was entirely about a joke involving a soda mascot that "Grapes kids in the mouth"

Freedom of speech is dead. Long live freedom of speech.

It's a good thing he didn't rob a bank for $100 while he was at it, or he would probably be facing life in prison now.

Robbing a gas station and beating the owner would actually get him less time than this

I'm sure the perp is guilty of something.

Some time in the slammer will do him good.

P.S. Superimposing, altering, photoshopping, editing videos and images can still constitute as an obscenity.

Maybe he should have done his homework before wasting his time on his little project.

...What?

How impossibly foolish to criminalize something totally harmless like that. It wasn't even connected in the slightest to even a fictional sexual attraction to children, much less had anything to do with anything that happened in actual reality!

When laws deviate from the harm principle, justice comes to harm...

How was this in anyway damaging to the kids? They didnt listen to the song, and the only way they could have been affected is if the parents let them watch it on youtube...

So what's the problem?

This is also a problem with nudity(not ponography, obviously) on television. Why is it bad? Don't we all look like that? Americans are way too childish when it comes to stuff like this.

(I think the guy should get a bag of cash and set free for them bothering him in his job; I don't want to live in a world wherein we can't say 'dirty words' in front of kids in case they might be 'damaged' by it(It's just words))

I'm fairly sure they'll find him not guilty- i still have some faith in humanity. Still, the fact that he is being prosecuted at all is just stupid. Society today is just too paranoid about pedophilia, this man is just a victim of societies paranoid delusions about them.

Perhaps society needs some kind of internal enemy to persecute even if such an enemy is sometimes non-existent. First it was blacks and communists, then it was homosexuals and now it's pedophiles.

In both cases, children aren't involved in a fictional form of expression, yet both are considered illegal (I guess). PEople don't make distinction when we get to the point of telling people what they can draw and what sort of comedy they can make

The police and DA like to threaten people into a plea bargan so things don't go to court. THat's what the Manga dude did instead of fighting it. Though with parents saying he's a monster and the DA saying the children were somehow "impacted" despite not being there, I wish I could say I had enough faith in the justice system to believe his not-guilty was guranteed

Really? REALLY? This is most stupid thing I have heard all year, while what he did was childish and immature it's not worth fucking 20 years in prison, maybe a small fine at the most. How could they possibly compare this to raping a small child on camera, when the actual kids in this case were exposed to exactly 0% sexual or exploitive behaviour? I can't even see why the authorities think this case is worth-while for conviction and I hope the jury in this case see sense.

REALLY!?

That's a strange attitude to what is clearly a massive miscarriage of justice.

This happened, my friend, because my country (I think this took place in America) has started to follow the letter, rather than the spirit of the law (which I must admit is what Lawful Neutral governments are supposed to be. But while the governmment itself may be Lawful Neutral, the people in it sure as hell aren't).

Huh?

Anyway, it's like people who make Pedobear gifs of the little bear attacking kids or that girl from Lazytown etc. We know the kids are safe and the cartoon bear is superimposed and not real, but the message is clear. "Paedophilia is funny,". Well, it isn't.

I'll look into this guy's case in more detail soon, but I think the courts are sending a clear message.

Like I said, a little jail time might give him a bit of time to think of some new, funnier sketches. It'll do him good.

Jeeze, next they'll be charging people playing CodBlops with murder, simply because it looks like they shot someone.

Wait, so you're essentially saying that this guy should be jailed because what he did wasn't funny to you?

What is this I don't even...

What he did was insensitive sure and he should get a warning but to even consider jail time for this is just madness.

Next on the DA's list : Memes.

Seriously, don't they have real criminals to convict? Are they this bored? Really?

Of course this is an important lesson: never get too good in photo manipulation or video editing. I wish I could say that I think he'll get away with it, but I don't. There are enough loons out there that would convict.
