Why do the children have to be ID'd?

Mainly because you need to make sure it's a child. I mean, most people will agree anyone jacking off to someone who looks like a kid is sick, but then you get into the whole debate of restricting the pornstar's freedoms based solely on their appearance.

And you can't check the 'children' in the videos against porn stars who look like children? There's software for facial recognition checks and etc, I'm sure it could be done. It's a legal loophole that was used to avoid having these people get what they deserve.

Maybe, but it could potentially be a legal adult they can't find, which is why they have to find the child. I agree it's pretty unlikely that they weren't children, just pointing out why they have to ID them.
