[HEADING=1]Children of the Gods: Arc 2[/HEADING]

Afternoon!

This is a thread looking for one or two people interested in participating in the second arc of the 'Children of the Gods' RP, which will be launched soon. The RP is run in the forums, with all other discussion held in a group. As we are only looking for very few new characters, there are a few conditions we would like to see met. But first, the world itself!

Children of the Gods takes place in a world identical to ours, albeit still in June. However, it is a world inhabited by Gods, Goddesses, creatures and spirits, and everything in between. Exceptionally powerful deities often own or inhabit realms which have remained hidden or inaccessible to most humans, save the unfortunate or the chosen.

The story follows the children of several deities from a variety of cultures; Greek, Nordic, Roman, Persian; though your character is most certainly not limited to common Pantheons. Tracking Dionysus across Europe, helped or hindered by local beings, they attempt to both uncover his plan, if he even has one, and put a stop to the wide-spread killing spree.

The rules of the RP are fairly common sense, though we do ask for either regular posting or advance notice when you are unable to post for a while.

- Remain courteous and polite to others in the discussion.

- Use correct grammar and spelling; it makes it easier for others to read.

- Quality posts; no short, one-line posts or pure dialogue. Nearly always leave it open for someone to respond to, unless in a specific situation.

- No god-modding or change to your characters abilities, without prior discussion.

- No introduction of elements that effect other character's history without prior discussion.

- No killing other characters.

- My word is law; while we have so far run as a Democratic Republic of Friends, if a dispute needs to be settled, my resolution sticks and will not be usurped without the proper documentation.

While we are open to any and all character ideas, a few specific suggestions will probably get your bumped up a notch or two.

- We have Greek, Persian and Nordic players; children of deities outside these realms would probably get a boost.

- Combat heavy; characters whose parent gives them an edge in melee combat.

- Rich history; any character who has a well-developed background is appreciated.

- Regular posting; at least once every 2-3 days would be nice. We understand people get swamped under with work and stuff, so advance warning is preferable if that's going to happen.

- Engaged players; while playing a distant and mysterious character can be fun, for the sake of engagement, we are looking for characters/players that converse with the group.

To top off your backstory, the location of your character at the start of the RP is yet to be decided, so feel free to end it however you like for now.

And now, for the character sheet. Feel free to post for any further information, questions or criticisms; a brief summation of events will be posted at the start of the second Arc, and I'll make sure you're all filled in without having to read through 30 something pages.

Thanks!

Is this humanoid gods only? Or can animal type gods who took semi-humanoid forms to mate with a human also be accepted?

Could you give us a list of the active character sheets? I got the boot last time because I infringed on other's abilities, and while I have an idea that will probably circumvent that, I'd like to be prepared.

Also, this just ain't right. The Romans probably started more conflicts in two decades than Peloponnesus has ever seen, and in addition to that, if you were a Patrician or even Plebian male and wanted to get anywhere in society, you had to excel on the battlefield as soldier and commander to prove your dignitas (self-worth).

Ares wasn't that well liked by the Greeks, as he was seen as unstable and untamed (as opposed to Athena, who represented the "art" of war, as in generalship and leadership [even then that was only a minor part of her being; she was primarily the goddess of the thinking cap, mathematics, arts, and skill]). Sure, Mars was adapted from Ares, but Mars represented the use of military power to "secure peace" rather than a bloodlusting frenzy. As a result of this, when Minerva was adapted from Athena she actually lost her generalship/leadership domain to Mars as a result of Roman gender ideals.

Going to go ahead and second Death's request for a list of active characters. Nobody likes unintentionally ripping other people off.

What's the general tone of the RP? Is just going to be straight up combat 24/7, where whoever has the strongest/most power wins, or do wits and subtlety have a chance of paying off if people play their cards right?

Do characters have to be demigods, or can they be the children of lesser, but no less potent creatures? Like the Fae or a particularly powerful vampire?

Current Character List:
Name: Veronica Ragna (goes by Vera)

Gender: Female

Age: 18 (appears 15)

Sexual preference: Bisexual (dependent on her mood and her form - see power)

Parent-God: Verethragna, the Persian God/Goddess of Victory

Appearance: Vera has chestnut colored, shoulder length straight hair and light-brown eyes. She's of Persian descent and thus has naturally tanned skin. Given her love of competition, she tends to wear loose-fitting sports wear whenever appropriate, but doesn't have anything against other clothing options. When forced to wear more formal clothes, she wears a tan sweater vest, white blouse and miniskirt - though she particularly despises the outfit. When forced to wear it, she often wears a pair of sports shorts underneath as an acceptable form of rebellion.

Personality: Vera is an outgoing, energetic, and competitive person with stubborn tendencies. She lives life to its fullest, living each day without regret. She loves all sports, games, and contests - always seeking to dominate her opponents. She is honest and compassionate, but is often blunt when its something or someone she cares about. When transformed (see below), her clothes disappear in animal and wind forms - save the warrior form which is dressed like a Persian warrior of old

Power: Like her divine progenitor, Vera can shape-shift between six of the 10 aspects of Verethragna - a Great Wind, a Golden-Horned Bull, a White Horse, a Bird, a Male Warrior with a Golden Sword and her normal form - the 15 year-old youth (with the four remaining forms she cannot take being a Camel, a Boar, a Ram, and a Buck). In most forms, her powers are limited to the natural abilities (enhanced like her normal demi-god state) of the given form, save the Warrior whose sword is divinely empowered. She can maintain the new form indefinitely, but must wait at least an hour before she can transform again.

Minor attributes:
1) Luck: In keeping with her origin, competitions tend to go her way even when they shouldn't. Keep in mind, this only applies to anything competitive (Example: she has a good chance of winning a lottery - if only small amounts, but is unlikely to find a thousand dollars in a gutter because there was no victory in the finding of it)
2) Competitive: Vera hates backing down from any kind of challenge; even ones in which she is horribly outmatched. It takes a great deal of willpower (or blunt-force trauma) to make her not accept a challenge. Once a challenge is accepted, she won't willingly surrender - she'll fight to the bitter end unless stopped via external power. As a result of this competitiveness and her half-divine nature, she is of Olympian strength, speed, agility, and endurance
3) Strategic: Vera is very intelligent when it comes to tactics and strategy. She finds it supernaturally easy to keep track of resources, see through ploys, and utterly break enemy plans in every game and sport she knows the rules for. This mental ability doesn't apply to anything non-competitive and therefore struggles with other skills as much as any other person.

History: Vera was born in Seattle to one Mary Vaan. Vera never knew her mother who died of mysterious complications shortly after Vera's birth. Mary took the secret of Vera's father to her grave, never telling anyone his identity; only saying his family name was Ragna. As a result, Vera was raised by her mother's parents for much of her youth. Despite the tragedy, Vera grew up in a loving home. While they weren't rich, they got by.

Vera spent her youth jumping from one challenge to another, refusing to back down from anything. 9 times out of 10, she won those competitions. the remaining 1 out of 10 invariably resulted in a rematch where she would defeat her opponents handily. By middle school, she was already a part of every sports team and game club she could find and quickly became a major player in every competition she was involved in.

Unfortunately, Vera's adoptive parents were old, and time was not her friend. When Vera was 15, both her grandparents passed away one after the other. Still young, Vera didn't know what to do. Unlike all the competitions and games and challenges she'd faced before, faced with mortality and no family to support her, she had little way to fight back as she normally would.

Then, things took a turn for the strange. She awoke one morning, intending to go to school to escape reality for however long she could and went to ready herself for the day. When she looked in the mirror however she found herself staring in the face of a bearded man, dressed in ancient armor and wielding a glowing golden sword. Completely shocked and overwhelmed, she ran back to her bed intent on running from the strange reality she found herself in. When she reached her room, she found a strange man dressed in much the same clothes as her sitting calmly on her bed, a blade in his hand. Her response was as expected.

She ran forward and tried to cut him in half with her own sword. The man, in turn, disappeared into the wind, reforming next to where she struck the same as he had been. his first words were "Now Veronica; is that anyway to treat your father?". Several long, violent screaming accusatory hours later, peace had been restored and the truth of her existence had been resolved. She spent the next week learning to control her powers, before returning to school.

Over the next three years, she has maintained her school life well - insisting on retaining her mortal life for as long as she could. Verethragna didn't approve of the decision, but then both knew at the beginning that Vera - being a demigod of victory - wouldn't compromise on everything with her previously absentee father. Vera and her father haven't meet much in the last two years, maintaining a distant relationship. He sends her money to help support her which she doesn't touch on principle.

After she graduated high school, Vera received a sports scholarship to the University of Michigan, where she is a freshman and playing for the Women's Basketball team as Point Guard and on the Volleyball team. She is studying business where her strategic thinking comes most in handy. It was at College she met Nicole Heller - the undisputed master of individual women's sports at the college and her senior by 2 years. For the first time, Vera had met a real challenge; someone she couldn't overcome in a day or two. The two competed several times, each in the other's sports of choice if only to fight each other directly. While Vera held the firm advantage in team sports - like her pride and joys: Basketball and Volleyball - Nicole proved more than a match in her rival's strengths of Track & Field and Swimming & Diving. It was several months before Vera realized the truth of the situation; Nicole was a demigoddess just like her!

After the the two uncovered the truth, they began meeting up when they had time; Vera eager to know another demigoddess. So began their rival-friendship. Vera looks up to Nicole as an example of what she can achieve, though she's far too stubborn to admit it aloud.

She works part time for the school radio station as DJ Ragna (who Ragna-Rocks the party), supplementing the funds left by her mother and her grandparents, her student loans, her Scholarship and Financial Aid.

Other: Ironically, Veronica was raised (and is a practicing) Presbyterian Christian.

Name: Andrew Miller

Gender: Male

Age: 26

Sexual preference: Heterosexual

Parent-God: Apollo

Appearance: Short brown hair and hazel eyes, Caucasian with a light tan. Around 5'10", regular build and agile rather than strong as well as fairly handsome, since he's the son of Apollo. He usually wears a t-shirt with a leather or denim jacket, and a pair of simple jeans and boots.

Personality: Charming and charismatic, but also with a decent amount pride, and a bit of a superior complex. Calm, levelheaded and intelligent, he's not the kind of person to act on emotions. He's not likely to get scared, but rather to try to find the solution as fast as possible. Determined, and hard-working, but not used to working together with others despite that he's good socially, and might make mistakes on purpose to get away from such a situation or work harder just to get it over with. When he does make mistakes unintentionally, he will go great lengths to make excuses, and claim he didn't do anything wrong. Not likely to complain out loud, but easily unhappy with a situation, which he will try to leave or talk himself out of.

Power: Hands of Life and Death: The ability to cure injuries and diseases, or, the other way, cause them. The ability is limited to minor things.

Minor attributes:

Medicine And Poison: Ever since he was a child, Andrew has been able to easily grasp the teachings of biology, as well as chemistry. Even though he's trying to be a surgeon, he has been trying his hand at producing different chemicals.

Archery: As Apollo shares his twin-sister's ability with the bow, this talent has been bestowed to his son. Andrew's has been practicing the bow since young age as well, but stopped when he got into med-school.

Melodies and Music: Andrew has a keen pitch and enjoys music. It also makes it easier for him to recognize sounds and voices.

History: Born to a lover of Apollo's, named Isabelle Miller. He grew up with his mother in Denver never really missing anything. It didn't take long until he knew what he wanted to be, already at age five he would talk about being a doctor and a surgeon. Doing very good in school and socially, the only problem he did have as a kid was that he would often see himself as better than others, something that's stuck with him ever since. Apart from that, he was said to be a well-behaved kid, as long as he was treated with respect, he listened to the teachers.

His mother did have some boyfriends at times, but he never had a stabile father figure, nor did he ever feel he needed one, having been told that his father was simply a guy who ran away. As his mother was as hard-working as him, he never saw her much, and most of his time was spent working with school, practicing archery, or looking further into medicine and science. Getting into a good med-school with almost completely perfect grades, he's recently got an internship, working his way towards becoming a surgeon. He's currently not in a relationship, as he broke up the last one due to a lengthy fight and decided not to get involved with someone for a while.

He was contacted by his father when he got the internship, but having already stopped to care, he just ignored him, not finding out who he really was before later. When he did find out, he ended up refusing to listen to Apollo, and even went as far as not talking to his mother due to her trying to excuse her having hid it for so long. Doing well in the internship, but having started to develop a morbid curiosity and arrogance regarding his role in these people's lives, he's found himself wondering what would happen if he deliberately gave someone the wrong medications. Of course, so far, that has never happened due to him being hesitant and not wanting knowing it's not morally right. These thoughts are something that worries him, making him feel like something's wrong with him.

When the telephone started ringing, he ignored it, and has ever since, albeit the sound of it has resulted in him feeling stressed and tired, and suddenly finding himself in Australia did not help.

Name: Steven Bacon
Gender: Male
Age: 35
Sexual preference: Straight
Parent-God: Hephaestus
Appearance: By far not a handsome man, (his face looks a bit like a bent potato with black hair on it), only 5'2, arms a bit longer than they should be, wears jeans and a shirt.
Personality: Obsessed with mechanical things, engineering, and tinkering in general. Does not mind being dirty, a motor head through and through. Friendly, polite and always with a smile, but even the fact he is a child of a god cannot get the guy a date. Still, knows just about everyone in the town, everyone calls him mechanic (since he has fixed just about everything in the town he lives in).
Power: Can instantly know how to work any mechanical machine, from wrist watches to cars, and able to make it work for him, bypassing any locks or limitations in his way.
Minor attributes:
-Heat Resistance: Can resist the hottest fire you could find in any forge, can comfortably smelt Steel with his bare hands.
-Weakpoint Detection: Can find the weakest point in any object made or constructed.
-Gun Mastery: Mastery over mechanical objects has made Steven to prefer firearms to any other weapon, partly because of it's simply mechanical design, partly because he finds guns are deadlier than any ancient weapon he could wield.
History: Born in a small town in North Dakota, Steven grew up interested in mechanical things. He was always able to take just about anything apart an put it back together (much to his mother relief when he took apart the family's Rolex). Everybody assumed Steven was a genius, as did he till a highschool chemistry accident blew up half the lab. Steven was the next desk over to the student's who had decided to take a few "shortcuts" in their experiments with gasoline, leaving most of the students with second degree burns, and had burnt off much of Steven's clothes, but left him untouched (school was sued for having the experiment, but that is another story).

After graduating college with an Engineering degree, Steven moved back to his town and set up a car shop that quickly put the other two in the town out of business. Hephaestus came forward, and revealed to Steven his true nature, admitting that he did it with Steven's mother to try to get back at his constantly cheating wife, Aphrodite.

Name: Nicole Heller

Gender: Female

Age: 20

Sexual preference: Straight

Parent-god: Nike, winged goddess of victory

Appearance: Tall and athletic with blue eyes and short black hair normally kept tied behind her in a braid or a ponytail. She tends to dress practically, in jeans, athletic shoes (although she tries to avoid buying Nikes, as people aware of her heritage tend to make obvious jokes), and short sleeved shirts, though she does have a windbreaker she wears sometimes when running in the cold. She doesn't really care all that much about what she's wearing, so long as she can run in it, and wouldn't care if she had to compete naked (though she does think that's likely her Greek heritage affecting her judgement).

Personality: Friendly and outgoing Nicole prefers to remain upbeat and cheerful, though she is easily bored and hates getting frustrated. She can be fairly selfish and likes to show off and challenge herself, though she likes to encourage others to do well. She loves to exercise, and especially to run, though she rarely goes all out in a competition as its more fun for her to have a close race.

Power:
Wings of Victory- She sprouts spectral wings, which enable limited flight, and while active enhance her minor attribute of victory, making things simply go her way such that victory almost comes to her. The wings can be made invisible and she can use her power to grant others a lesser version of her domain powers for a time.

Minor Attributes:
Victory- Victory simply seems to come to her, and she tends to be very lucky. However she is accustomed to winning and sometimes reacts badly to losses, getting frustrated. While this pushes her to try harder and demand a rematch she can go overboard.

Athletic- Her heritage has left her capable of incredible speed and stamina, making her one of the faster mortals alive. Her strength is also enhanced but to a lesser degree.

Competitive- Nicole loves to compete, and has difficulty backing down from a challenge. In addition if she is competing with someone she clearly outmatches, or is doing some task she finds boring she will often restrict herself to make it more of a challenge, or at least a closer event than usual.

History: Nicole was born and raised in Iowa, by her single father, although her mother visited on occasion (she later liked to joke that it was probably to win some "parent of the year" competition among the other gods). While her mother wasn't around much her occasional presence soon led to her learning of her ancestry, though her attempts to flaunt it as a child led to many shoe related jokes at her expense, which soon put a stop to such attempts. Looking back on that she likes to laugh about how silly it was of her to say such things, and makes her glad that she was young enough that people just laughed at her childish antics.

She soon discovered the joys of competition, which helped her to make friends in school and contributed to her outgoing personality. She excelled in sports even as she was somewhat bored by schoolwork, her father did very well at work, possibly as a result of her mother's influence, and as a result she was able to get into very good schools growing up. She tried to maintain an amiable relationship with her mother, but as she got older the absences grew longer and eventually she gave up, holding some pride for her heritage but overall simply stopped caring. She excelled in high school sports, most notably track and field and swimming, and soon gained the attention of several colleges. The possibility of competing on a higher level pushed her to improve her grades to match college expectations and once she graduated high school she went to the University of Michigan.

Even at the college level she had little difficulty with surpassing her competition, and while schoolwork bored her (she has changed majors several times) she made many friends, joined a sorority, and overall enjoyed college life greatly. Her mother was mostly absent from her life and forgotten by her, she sometimes wished that she could forget about her heritage as she often felt that the victories she had weren't earned simply granted by right of birth.

This attitude was challenged by one of the incoming freshmen, Veronica Ragna, who for the first time in a long while actually forced her to push herself. While the two preferred different sports they had enough of an overlap that they soon formed a friendly rivalry of sorts, and it wasn't long before Nicole realized the truth that Vera had similar heritage, though she was hesitant to speak it for quite a while. While Nicole is occasionally frustrated by her losses to Vera she is glad to finally have someone that challenges her, and the two of them began to meet when they had free time.

Name:Aria Valentine
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Sexual preference:Bi, a side effect of having a mother who's dominion covers love, sexuality, beauty and fertility.
Parent-God: Freya (love, sexuality, beauty, fertility, gold, seiಠ(magic), war, and death.)
Appearance: For the most part she looks like her mother, with traces of her father really being just her Hazel eye color, and her darker blonde hair, which she generally keeps braided, apart from that she is a very 'jeans and t-shirt' kinda girl.
Personality: Aria is pretty easy going over all, and surprisingly slow to anger, and unsurprisingly, has an exhibitionists streak in her, she's beautiful and she knows and sometimes likes to show it off, though she also has an air of loneliness to her which might explain the exhibitionism. She also speaks with a southern draw due to growing up in Texas.
Power: Seiಠ aka Magic;
The attribute she primarily inherited from her mother is her dominion over magic, which in her, manifest mostly as her Aether Rays, a very basic form of energy projection. How ever since no one that knows anything about real magic is around to instruct her properly this potential is largely untapped and really only use on an 'as needed' basis, case in point was the time she was fourteen, in her grandparents barn and fell out of the loft aimed at a pitchfork, only to have her magics react and teleport her safely to the ground. further testing of this ability has yield its fairly short range for what it is (15 meters) and can't port her through solid objects like a door, as it seems to require 'line of sight', which means it can still go around can go things like people or furniture if need be.
Minor attributes: Other traits she inherited from her mother are as follows, none are as strong in her as her 'Magic' trait, and operate on they're own with no way for her to turn them off.
Love/Fertility; Aria is pretty good at setting people up on dates that usually last at least a few months, and of those unions most end up with kids fairly quickly, So she's taken to warning them about the higher probability of a 'little bundle of joy'.
Death; Yes, 'she see's dead people', she can talk to them to, and can occasionally help them on their way to the hereafter, although not always due to something just being beyond her ability to handle.
War; This trait is in her, however it is the weakest of all of them, manifests mostly as a 'cheer-leading' ability in that what ever side of something she choose and cheers for does a little better then they would have other wise, but nothing beyond what they would have been capable of on they're own, and even then they can still lose, so more often then not it's over looked as 'her team had a good game' since it normally only comes out at sporting events.
History: Aria was adopted and named by a couple from Texas and grew up in a primary baptist community. Far as her family life was growing up, she was happy, she loved her adoptive parents and grandparents and her upbringing was pretty normal for where she grew up. Sports, hunting, fishing and church where the mainstays in her life.
Until she turned thirteen. Through out most her young life to that point she'd had some inkling she was different, with the very first of her 'powers' to manifest being those relating to her 'death' attribute when she was six, which cause a lot of confusion till she figure out who was a ghost and who wasn't. Those relating to 'love' at nine, which was surreal for the grown up she paired off. Thirteen is when 'magic' began to manifest in her, June to be exact, that was not a fun month for her. It took her two weeks to figure out how to stop shooting things at random, much to her family's dismay and another two to get the energy build up and flow under control and regulated so she could function normally. Mean while rumors started to fly in the small town she grew up in that she was some kinda witch due to her powers, so she started hiding the fact she had powers from every one, though she still lost most of her friends as a result of their parents paranoia. Her parents stayed with her, they knew above all else Aria need people she could trust, besides, they knew she wasn't some 'devil worshiper' as the rumors often said about her, usually in the face of the fact Aria was still going to church and still considered her self a 'christian'.
The rumors died down after a year or so. Aria hadn't given them any thing to keep basing them on, though some of her former friends and their family's still called her a witch now an then, which usually earned them a single finger salute. It was also in that year her loneliness started taking hold of her, she'd managed to make a few new friends but nothing a close as they had been, and she'd given up on getting a boy friend despite the fact she was much prettier then the other girls in her school, most the boys where still some what afraid of her due to the 'witch' rumors that hung around her, then a year after that, when she was fifteen, her world shattered. First her grandparents died, first grandma due to old age, the grandpa shortly after due to a 'broken heart', the loss of her grandparents cut her deep, they had also supported her when she was under-fire from the paranoid masses for being a witch. Then, barely four months later, both her parents where killed in a car accident on the highway. A long haul trucker fell a sleep at the wheel and drifted into the oncoming lane. Fortune smiled on her in that she didn't have to worry about money, but she was truly alone now, so all the money meant nothing to her in the face of losing the last two people that loved her with out reservation. Around that time she lost her faith as well, one of her friends was trying to console her and said 'god has a plan', it wasn't long after that she stopped going to church, it gave the people who hated her more ammo, but by then she didn't care.
For the last four years she been living on her grandparents land, she'd sold most of the land off since there was to much for her to handle alone, it killed her to have to sell any of that land but public opinion being what it is of her, no one really wanted to help her tend the property. She held on to a few acres, though she use the barn mostly to practice using her Aether Rays and teleport ability, which she's yet to give a name to. Beside practicing with her powers, she still hunted, went to local football games, and fished, she'd also earned a reputation of being a great matchmaker, and a better exorcist the most the priests far as getting ghost to move on goes.
Other: She doesn't know who her mother is, there's been no point her life where Freya or a representative approached her, so for the most part she does think she descended from some witch somewhere.

Name: Etna Dunn

Gender: Female

Age: 21

Sexual preference: Asexual

Parent-God: Badb, One of the war goddesses that make up the Morrigu.

Appearance: Striking. She is raven-haired with green eyes and has pale skin. Near her left eye, just above the bridge of her nose is a singular chicken pox scar.Normally, she wears long-sleeved cardigans with a plain top underneath with jeans and Converse brand shoes. On her left wrist, she usually wears a collection of bracelets, just bits and blobs she has picked up over the years. Other than that, she wears hardly any jewellery, preferring to keep such expensive things safe in the lockbox. Etna is usually seen with a plain leather messenger bag in which she keeps her everyday things. She has a slender build and stands at 5'4".

Personality: In a word, quiet. Etna is an introvert and usually keeps to herself and prefers to watch rather than be involved. A thinker, not a doer. If approached, Etna will more than likely just brush that person off with a snide remark. But, she does warm up to others who show kindness to her and is a loyal friend. Etna is a person driven by whim and often makes decision based on feelings, rather than based on the hard facts. Because of this, she can be seen as being a 'difficult' person. However, Etna does not waste time with people who seem to have a problem with her. Too much bother.

Power:

Emotional Manipulation - Etna is able to change the feelings of others, subtly nudging others to feel what she wants them to, whether it be happiness, fear or even sowing the seeds of discord. However, it is somewhat limited. For instance, while she may be able to change love into hate, she must do carefully as the target could become aware of her meddling and strike out against her. At least at the individual level. With crowds, it is easier as the will is disturbed and diluted. Additionally, If there are any underlying emotions that match the one that Etna wishes to fiddle with, it is simply a case of bringing them to the surface.

Minor attributes:

1.) Crafty - Etna has smarts. She'll happily waste time solving a puzzle or a riddle. Nevertheless, her academic results are good, not exceptional as she only puts effort into things that really interest her.
2.) Corvid Affinity - As the daughter of the Battle Crow Goddess, she has minor control over those of the Corvidae family, Crows, ravens, rooks, and magpies, for example.
3.) Innate Combat - Etna, while she has never been any self-defence classes in her life - has an affinity for combat. To the point where it scares her.

History: Raised singularly by the Goddess herself in Ireland. The family of two posed as Pavee, wandering the land in their caravan, to avoid suspicion. As a result of this, Etna was homeschooled by Badb, well, at least to the best of her ability. Etna quickly developed a love of the academic and grew annoyed at Badb's tendency to go off-topic and spout half-baked prophecies at random. She took it upon herself to succeed in her studies and began to simply tune out her mother. Which in hindsight, was a bad idea as this created a rift of sorts between the two. A fight over the mundane and the divine.

Badb quickly grew tired of this, and as soon as she could, dumped Etna with her sister Macha in Ulster. Etna saw this as an improvement. Macha had a better temperament and with a permanent residence, education was made simpler. However, Etna soon found out that secondary school was not exactly simple at all. She found herself at odds with the teachers, and the other students found themselves at odds with her. In this harsh environment, she quickly grew a thick skin and aware of her power over others. Etna abused this, and as a result, she was shunned by the others.

No one dared to get close to her. The 'high' was over and she quickly crashed back into simply going to school, doing the work, going home and watching television. The days merged together and soon enough she was out of secondary school. In college, she began to mellow. Gone was the girl who would question everything. Etna found it easier to go with the flow. Besides, people were more amiable there anyways. Apart from the continuing decline in the relationship between Etna and her mother, all was well. After three years and of exams, exams and resist, she passed her exams with a mixture of A and B grades.

Soon enough, she went on University, continuing on from a blend of humanities and science subjects into an undergraduate psychology degree. So far, she has enjoyed university life. However, there was always that niggle in the back of her mind, that her divine heritage will mess up things somehow. It's not easy being the daughter of a war goddess who is probably causing strife somewhere, after all. In the past week, she was bothered by mysterious phone calls, emails and headache-inducing phone calls. Now she is bothered by an upset stomach and wet hair. Not to mention the fact she definitely isn't in Ireland anymore.

Also Staring:

Name: Prometheus

Age: Unknown, though looks roughly 28.

Sexuality: Heterosexual.

Appearance: Standing at 5'11, Prometheus has unkempt, wavy brown hair and keen, dark eyes. His skin is chapped and tanned, and his face carries numerous nicks and scratches. Clean shaven, he often looks tired and somewhat hungover.

Usually trudging around in jeans, grey jumper and hiking shoes, these baggy clothes conceal a Titans body - muscles somewhat warped and twisted around his bones, strikingly muscular but also somewhat inhuman. On his back is a simple, dark backpack.

Personality: Having been tortured for the largest part of his life, Prometheus is somewhat disenfranchised. However, his passion for humanity that caused him such anguish still lives on within him, giving him an optimistic yet bleak approach. Preferring to operate through tricks and tactics, he likes to keep his relationships in good form, and values the knowledge of others as equal to himself.

Easily angered and annoyed by Hubris, he has a low tolerance to foolishness, and a high regard for those with foresight.

Powers: As Prometheus is a titan, he has no specific magic powers. However, he retains his physical prowess as a titan, and a subtle knack for slipping in and out of sight.

History: Prometheus is old. Very old. Older than Zeus. Child of Lapetus and Clymene, he fought with the Olympians against Kronos to end the reign of the Titans. Although he cannot claim to have created humanity, he has helped them enormously throughout the past. Tricking Zeus into taking the short end of sacrifices to ensure humanity had food to eat, Zeus claimed fire back from Man, plunging them into darkness and shadow. Prometheus, by way of guile, stole it back, and gave Man the tools to progress into the civilisation we see today.

This did not sit well with Zeus. Chained to a rock on a mountain, Prometheus was punished for his sins. Each day, a bird of prey would land upon his naked body, and strip away the flesh on his stomach, to dine on his liver. Then, overnight, it would grow back, due to his immortality, only to be eaten again the next day.

Freed from torment by Herakles, Prometheus has then since wandered the world, intervening in neither events on Olympus nor on Earth, save inspiring the intricate plan to return Thor's hammer.

In his wanderings, Prometheus was abducted by Zeus, and for seven days they sat in discussion, in a strangely empty and isolated bar. Agreeing to help guide the heroes, it is clear that Zeus has a card that holds Prometheus to his word.

Hope that helps

You are 100% correct; I probably should have said; "Greek mythology tends to be somewhat more bloodthirsty", as the Gods in the RP are adapted from their literary and (sometimes) artistic sources.

The RP so far has been a blend of combat and character development. The combat itself is usually fairly difficult and does require some tact and ability, otherwise bones are broken and what not. Non-combat events usually open up a wide-array of options for characters based off their minor abilities; i.e. excellent hearing lets you eavesdrop on plans, linguistics lets you speak to some characters others can't etc.

Overall the constant tone is somewhat threatening, as I've tried to make the setting far more dangerous than the characters. Wit and subtlety have definitely played a part.

I would prefer the parent to be a 'God', but I think if it's well written I can't ignore it anyway. I do ask that you would make the parent a particularly prominent Fae/Vampire/Creature, and make sure you express from which culture it is from.

Yes, Normal weapons, Firearms specially have been effective against super natural things.

as to WHY, we donno, (and i would kinda like to know why conventional weapons are working on gods) but Steven has been using normal fire arms the whole time and not been any less effect then any one else.

What has the general roster of foes been like so far? I hope ones that can feel pain and react to it, otherwise my character-in-construction is fuuuuuucked.

I'd say that it depends on who the foe is, though, running in and shooting everything with guns doesn't seem to have been that effective on some creatures (like the furies). Also, other weapons (swords, spears, bow and arrow) have proven just as useful against other creatures and gods, on some creatures more (And guns are pretty much useless against the Djinns).

Besides, I do think we're looking for melee heavy characters, right? So recommending guns (if you weren't, then nevermind this) seems sorta odd.

So far, pretty much every opponent have been able to feel pain, but some, especially gods are also more resistant to pretty much everything, than other creatures as well as humans.

I'm going to ask you here since this is relevant to the recruitment, you do still have the age limitation, right? Young adults (with Steven being something of a special case)? Or is it going to change in the second Arc? I'm asking since you didn't mention it above, and you were pretty set on that the first time around.

My own personal theory is that the gods were basically unkillable forces of nature... when the most technologically advanced weapon was a sword made of bronze. There powers are impressive but they haven't actually changed in thousands of years. The gods are falling behind.

Except that really doesn't hold up considering what has happened so far, the most effective weapon against them so far has been a divine sword (only thing that's killed a god thus far) and that was further boosted by several blessings at the time. Guns so far have just annoyed the gods we've run up against, Gaia wasn't even at full strength and for all the bits they knocked out of her it mostly just served to piss her off. Their powers may not have changed but they're still far far beyond the realm of modern technology, and while modern weapons do seem to be able to inflict at least superficial harm on them they really only seem vulnerable to other things of divine power.

I didn't quite mean that they are not very hard to kill. Conventional force has only done a little damage to the gods. I am just saying it is less "they react to bullets as Superman" and more "it would require a LOT more blunt force to take out a God alone than a shotgun and a handgun can provide." I honestly wonder what would happen if a God in this setting would react to heavy artillery or carpet bombing.

In either case, everything else, besides the rock monsters, have been mowed down quite easily by bullets.

The effectiveness of weapons and abilities is relative to several factors, largest of which is the nature of the God/Creature. Each character will be strong in some types of combat and weak in others.

wasn't suggesting them at all, but they are the most prevalent conventional weapon we have had, so they came to mind first, with Andrew not really being armed till recently an all ya know.

sorry to disappoint but knifes are my usual weapon of choice.

and i have a specific fighting style for this one, in which im very glad guns work so well because its a sword-gun combo.
anyways, yay obscure god of war.
