I'm not going to just say this is mindlessly stupid.

It's profoundly stupid.

I had an girlfriend who was Chinese. I mean straight from China Chinese. I never learned the name of the site, but they had streaming movies that you can just plug in and watch.

Every other title was a Mafia movie or dealt with Mafia things.

Even the comedies were Mafia movies. Why ban games but keep that? There is absolutely no sense to this. Other than the fact that these games bring "foreign taint".

Or maybe they are pissed from GTA the Chinatown Wars.

Irony much?

Mobsters rule by fear and force. The Chinese Government rules by... Puppies?

Besides, what about movies like Election or Triad Election? They're not games, so that makes them somehow okay?

Some of the best films ever made are gangster movies. This is a fact.

I think China needs to be nuked.

No, no; bear with me here.

Japan was the enemy of, well, pretty much anyone. Two nukes later and everyone thinks they're cool: anime, cool tech, video games, RPGs, etcetera.

Just think how China could be improved.
You fool! Liberty Prime isn't ready yet and we don't have power armor either.

Anyway it's China people, it's a no brainer why they do this shit.

Investigations leading to arrests, people hiding in basements engaged in illegal activities.

Sounds like crime and punishment.... whoda thunk it was only a game.

Talk about life imitating art. Criminalising people for playing games that simulate them being criminals...

My head hurts...

"These games encourage people to deceive, loot and kill, and glorify gangster life," a notice posted on the Ministry website on Monday read. "They are a bad influence on youngsters."
Took them long enough to jump on the "video games ruin our youth" bandwagon.

Shouldn't China's Ministry of Adult Babysitting be more worried about he corrupting influence of the largest pirated media black market in history running right under their noses, and not about which specific games their people are stealing and selling?

...Oh, that's right. They're communists. Their entire system is exploiting free economies to keep their people employed while letting the other guy absorb the downturns of the free market. I guess when your governments operating philosophy is "Let the other guys take all the risks, we'll steal the product" you really don't have anything better to do than police thought.

And to those who keep saying, "Well, what can anyone do?": the people of China can get sick of the condescension, overthrow their government, and build a democracy.

Slim chance of that happening, granted, but that's not the same thing as hopelessness.

Oh, and said revolution will probably be pretty violent too, but that's not a bad thing. Because, you know, sometimes you have to be violent fighting for your human rights under a dictatorial system.

Look at me - all about cold, hard reality today.

When the hell has China ever been cool? When they were slightly, mildly less harsh about controlling every aspect of their citizens' lives? When was this?
