People can be really fucked up. It doesn't matter where you are from, people can just be really fucked up. This story is sad, why would you do this!

Wait...what? No. Just no. First of all, I want to know what happened to those kids, and second, is it that hard to find a FUCKING ORPHANAGE?! If I find this on Fox News, God help us all.
They had kids on purpose with the intent to sell them for money.
Also, the "orphanages" in China (especially for girls) are not so much better than the kids being alone.
Pretty much these kids were doomed from birth.
Ahhhhh...the wonders of humanity.....

Why can't you just pirate like everyone else in china?
China is somewhat famous for piracy actually. Microsoft lost about 85% of it's chinese income to piracy once.
However, they were playing in an internet cafe. You have to pay to play there.

Sorry, but the avatar you have right now just perfectly provides a bit of evidence to what your taking about.
If you change it by the timd you read this, I mean the one showing the pib-boy guy kicking the pregnant woman in the stomach.

Also, to answer your question, FOR THE MONEY.

Poor kids... I can't describe my disgust while reading this.

I can't wish nothing less than a baseball bat to their heads, and cut them genitalia...

Do you know how many people try to sell their kids a year.
Question marks are your friend. Embrace them. Just sayin'.

OT: Wait a minute, doesn't China still have that law forbidding families from having more than one kid? If so, are we sure they're being arrested for selling the kids rather than having more children than is legal? It's a horrible thing to do either way, I guess I just have a morbid curiosity about this.
Just to clarify, It isn't illegal to have more than 1 kid. The state will only fund/support the First one. The rest is up to the parents to take care of financially.

I can't say that I am surprised at this - this type of black market has existed for a long time and has probably only increased as connections between nations and people improve (ie the internet)

The only new part is that these people took the money to fuel their online addictions as opposed to drug addictions or increased consumerism...

so you're saying that the children would've been better off with their game addict parents?
don't see the problem here
they don't want their children and need money
others want their children and are willing to pay

who are we to force parents to keep their kids?

$9700 for 3 kids. That's pretty good.

I wonder who sprung for that concertinaing that most orphanages actually pay you to take kids.

Casey Anthony should have considered that approach.

Did thy have the kids with the sole intention of selling them. or did they have the kids, realize it was a terrible idea and then sell them?

The problem falls into two categories. They sold the children for a profit rather than put them up for adoption which is regulated to help ensure the safety of the children. More importantly we don't know who the children went to but it is likely to be human trafficking. A life of slavery is far worse than being raised by stupid parents. Even if they did end up in a loving home the parents still risked that life of slavery with little thought beyond yay money.

I know a lot of people have said it already, and I know it's obvious but..
That is THE stupidest thing I have EVER heard a person doing. C'mon... parents should never do that.

As my friend once said: "Stupid people have been and will be around for a long time."

Its good to see some people are enterprising enough to MAKE MONEY off children, not just be made poorer by them.

Yakuza or another gang likely. Don't know about the boys so much, but once she grows up, the girls probably got a bright future in underage prostitution ahead of her now.
Wait, aren't the Yakuza Japanese?
Yea but they've got their fingers in China, and a lot of other places. In China's case most of their operations are the human, specifically child trafficking business. Buy an unwanted baby girl in China, smuggle her out of the country, wait till she grows up and force her into prostitution. Takes a bit longer, but there far less mess and trouble then kidnapping someone. Disgusting really.
The Tongs or Golden Triangle, then. Both are Asian criminal organizations. :p

This story makes me feel physically sick.

didn't consider the human trafficking possibility
that would indeed be a worse life

but then again my opinion is that parents should have the right to do with their children what they want(at least the young ones)
i mean the children are literally their own flesh and blood and have no will on their own(so they wouldn't even object to it if they could)
plus life isn't fair

it is harsh but that's how things work for you
could it be worse? oh yes
could it be better?... not much

This made me a little dubious about this story.
If they're under 21(ergo 20 or younger) and didn't have twins then she must have been around 17 when she started doing this... or younger.
Hmm.

Stating that you didn't know it was illegal to sell your child is pretty ludicrous.
Wait, selling children is illegal? SHIT!

In all seriousness though, who or what could you find to sell your children to? I wouldn't have thought it would be a sexual trafficking ring, because then surely the girl would have been worth more than the boys..? Or is that naive?
