Ok, if you are a woman/girl and are about to flay me alive, stop. I dont mean all women, i mean wymen with a y, you know, the "crush that two-balled woman hater" type of woman. They're becoming a more visible force wether you would like to admit it or not.

So here's my deal, in my time ive only seen a few wymen, and i will recount a tale of one of those times for you (if you saw this in my romantics thread, ive decided that this deserves it's own discussion)

A little while back, it was a day like any other, and me and my friends where going to Timmies to go get some coffee and relax after our weekly ritual of D&D (NERD ALERT!) and as we are walking in there is a woman coming in behind us. Not particularly attractive but not manly or ugly either, just what seemed like an ordinary run of the mill 20 something woman.
Of course the rest of the guys don't think twice to hold the door open, but i however...do.
Big mistake. The woman starts practically yelling at me about how she doesn't need a man to hold the door open for her, and that as a individual confident woman she could take care of herself. So i let go of the door, said "thanks for the info vagiant" and i continued on to order my coffee.

The discussion is this. I believe that chivalry is dead, and i also believe that wymen killed it. Through that headstrong "i don't need a man" attitude. Also i just want to raise the point, at what point does combating sexist oppression become sexist itself? To put that sentence into perspective, consider this. It is considered empowering to have a womans' only gym, and yet a mens' only gym is chauvanistic, just plain sexist, or gay. Does that seem fair to you?

[EDIT] The door thing IS NOT, i repeat IS NOT the reason for the thread, the reason for the thread is to discuss the impacts of the more extreme end of the feminist mindset. The Door at the Timmies is just an EXAMPLE, of what im talking about that just happens to have been experienced by me.

I'll hold a door open for anyone, it's just politeness. I've never been chided for it because I act as if it's something one should simply do, if you've opened the door and you're not in a hurry, stand aside and let someone through.

Yeah, that's right, that one person's overreaction clearly means that women are now oppressing men

And where you live that they don't have men's gyms I have no idea

Look, If you're going to make a thread on this, make sure:
A. It's never been done before. (it has. I checked)
B. That you're not doing it from the simple morale boost I gave you. This isn't flame-war worthy.

I prepose a lock on anything hot and spicy because this is sure going to end up with 1000 plus views and a lot of pissed off escapists.

One woman/=/all women? Come on, most extra-nice-naughty-bits-having-partners would've smiled and said thank you, and probably started talking to you after. Just laugh at the batshit one and move on, and don't go confusin' bitches and hos.

I've never been yelled at for holding a door open, but that's just me. I do get a little annoyed at those people who demand recognition for holding a door. I hold the door open just to be polite, nothing more. Then there are some people who will grab you by the collar and yell at you for not saying "thank you." Yes, congratulations, you have functioning limbs. Was I supposed to thank her (yeah, woman who did this) for not being an asshole? Is that the standard now? It's not that you did something spectacularly kind, it's that you had basic courtesy? In that case I should be thanked daily for not murdering anyone.

i dont want a flame war, i want a discussion. And to be quite honest i would like to see the women of the escapist weigh in on it, see what they think about all this.

[EDIT] im pretty sure most every discussion that isn't simply current event has been made before in one place or another, so i dont see the problem in making another, the one that was already made didn't seem horribly current.

Brilliant, this can only end in puppies and rainbows

Keep it alive yourself, ok? say you're doing it because you like them and it's polite, not because you think they are inferior. problem solved

I have never encoutered any so-called wymen but agree that their prescence in society is undeniable. I think when most people hear the word sexism they would never consider a woman having sexist views towards men, it is equality of women gone mad. Women have long acheived equality with men and yet some still act as if they are predjudiced against because of their gender.

Common courtesy, I do it all the time. I try to be helpful if I can, hell I don't even really care if they acknowledge it. What irritates me though is that simple acts such as these are falling out of practice, or at least so it would seem to me.

I wrote a polemic about common courtesy for English though so I could go on for ages about it.
Anyway the woman in the OP's post- Just being a wench.

that's not particularly accurate, women and men are not yet equals everywhere, to do so would be impossible, once will always be (if maybe only slightly) prejudiced against, but that's just life, my concern is about the wymen who think that because throughout the course of history women have been oppressed by men (and nobody can deny that) that they have the right to be callous and rude towards men simply for being men. That really defeats the purpose of looking for equality if they really want superiority.

He meant feminists not all women...like how chauvanists created feminists. And with that the chivalry must have been dead before in order for the 'Make me a sandwich! Woman!' type to arise.

They didn't kill chivalry their just a pain and a side effect of chauvanists.
