You head to the occult section of the library and look around for any books that might help you figure out what's going on. You remember that Marie was talking about something related to ancient history before she was devoured, but that doesn't help much. You go through book after book of useless information before--
You hear a horrifying sound rip through the air. A black wind rushes past the window, beating heavily against it. You hear the snapping of wood, the breaking of bricks. The foundation of the building bends and then glass and wood and books are everywhere and you are knocked off your feet as the entire building rips apart before you.
You are laying on your back, staring at a black sky. No longer is there rain coming from the heavens. Instead something far more haunting surrounds you.
The buildings are gone, ripped to shreds by the black wind that passed by. All around you, stretching out for miles, is a scene of absolute devastation. Far above you in the sky, there is what looks to be a whirlpool among the black clouds. In this whirlpool you see the souls of the dead, wailing all the while, get sucked into it. Far off in the distance, there are five enormous black tentacles flailing in the distance. Out from where the five tentacles are flailing, pig flesh crawls along the ground, slowly consuming all it touches.
The world around you is altered, as if part of a new dimension has devoured a portion of yours. The books you were just holding that were once completely normal are now etched with symbols of insanity. Each one is capable of giving you profound powers, you can tell at a glance, because they are the same as the one you read before that gave you life power. But at what cost to your sanity? There are ten books in front of you, each painted a grim shade of one of the following colors: Green, Orange, Gray, Crimson, White, Yellow, Purple, Brown, Pink and Black.

Failing that, get in range of the fourth tentacle and use what remaining plasma rifle power you have left to vaporize that sucker into next week.
You pull out your plasma rifle and zap towards one of the tentacles. The blast travels towards it, but you're too far away and are temporarily too weak to move into range. After a short rest you should be up for it, though.

You take a Pink book and throw it towards the tentacle. It gets about four feet before falling into the pig flesh, which quickly consumes the book. As soon as it does, an enormous swathe of the pig flesh that consumed the book becomes an intense shade of pink. The pig flesh rushes towards you and wraps around your leg, but it does so... lovingly. Instead of consuming you, it rubs gently along your leg, and then keeps spreading out behind you, devouring buildings in its wake. Oooookay.
You decide to make yourself a Tl;Dr to figure out how to organize yourself: 1) The fifth tentacle's ruptured and is rekking everything 2) There's a whirlpool of souls above you 3) There's ten nine books of Insanity Magic in front of you 4) Pig flesh is coming from the tentacles, eating everything but you 5) The game state you're in looks pretty boned. Ah geeze.

Sanity: 7/10
Inventory: Flashlight (Full Battery), Tree Branch, Plasma Rifle, Pistol, Grappling Hook, Wallet, Green Potion, Black Mirror (which is an excellent television series, though the first episode is not really at the same caliber as the rest of the series)
