gotta love double standards ;)
Uh...there already are Muslim video games. They just aren't very popular because Muslims are less than 1% of America's population.

There already are Muslim videogames. The vast majority of Americans aren't prejudiced against muslims at all. While Barack Hussein Obama might be Christian, his name is clearly Arab/Muslim, and we voted for him anyways. The perception that Americans are bigoted against Muslims is in itself bigoted- and horribly innaccurate.

We already know that religious extremists don't represent Muslims in general, just as the Ku Klux Klan doesn't represent white Americans in general.
XD one of the top 9 "girl games" on the site is clean the room :D

Lousy Persia perverting the message of Islam with their antiquated worldview.

I fully support this companies right to make and sell these games. However, they also have to support my right to question this tag line - "Do you want Good, Clean, Fun in your house?" I seriously doubt there is any fun in this game at all. Much as there was no fun in the book or movie series. You see fundamentalists have already used up the word fun in their name, leaving none left over for everyday life and certainly not video games or any other form of entertainment.

OT: Was it wrong I inferred sexual innuendo for this title (for sheer shit and giggles, even)?
It is awfully hard to ignore double entendre when a Christian game company proclaims "Good, clean fun."

I find it hard to fathom how "Left Behind 3: Rise of the Anti-Christ can appeal to a "Good, Clean Fun Christian gaming" company or its audience. Rise of the Anti-Christ? That doesn't sound all that good or clean (or, I would imagine from their perspective, fun).

Regardless, I wish them the best of luck to go "Show 'em their stuff" and give the Anti-Christ "let him have it and give 'em everything they got." [footnote]Refernce to the Boondocks vs. Tyler Perry episode[/footnote] Now I'm in the mood to worship some pagan gods in Oblivion...

First comment and it just so happens to be a good one. You sir are awesome. Besides your true words lets also keep in mind these people are amongst the first to ban video games if they have anything they don't agree with. Hypocrisy not aside I bet this game will also be incredibly gory, especially if it's based after the bible, which is one of the most gory and violent books I have ever read in my life.

A guess here, but aren't at least 75% of gamers like violent games, not clean wholesale fun... But on the PC, I guess its ok but if their worried about everything just play the Sims, make a religious version so that every religion or atheist can play in piece.

Take particular notice that they are not selling good, clean fun. They are selling "Good, Clean Fun", which is the much holier version of fun. None of that satanic normal fun, Fun is reserved for the goodies.

A flying spaghetti monster game would be perfect or, better yet, atheist videogames! It takes place on an undisclosed open-world location that looks a lot like Seattle. You are armed with your Origin of Species book and go door to door trolling people into believeing you. And you'd use an invisible pink unicorn for fast travel between locations.

Let's see if there is no outcry about it.

EDIT:

Also, you get to go "Deep and Wide" with prostitutes to increase your happiness so that you can bear to carry your day to day trolling of strangers at their very homes.

Deep and Wide is a Christian children's song. That's the reference. By all means, be juvenile about it, though.

The fuck? That's a Christian song? I'd heard it before (or at least a part of it), but I never knew it was supposed to have some religious significance.

All sarcasm aside I fail to see the big deal really. I know a lot of people don't like those books. The one I read was very average, though it was an interesting concept. I see no reason why this is any worse than say "Dante's Inferno" in the final equasion.

I do find it kind of disturbing that the retailers are selling a game about all out warfare involving everything from guns to supernatural powers and the miracle of faith as "good, clean, family fun". Let's be honest, these are war games. There isn't anything in the concept worse than "Age Of Empires" from what I've seen (don't actually own one) but still the sales line being attached to them seems a bit disturbing.

As far as a dual standard goes, I don't really have a problem with that for the moment, though as the times change so will my opinion as to what's appropriate. The current state of conflict is unlikely to last forever, it will be resolved eventually.

I would however mention that all things being equal there aren't enough Islamics in the US to warrent this kind of distribution (a very small group compared to Christians, and these games have a small distribution by those numbers as it is, I'm not sure if Wal*Mart could justify stocking even more niche products if it's already taking this long to consider justifying this).

What's more, above and beyond the current war there have been issues like when the book "The Satanic Verses" had it's author and publishers put under a death warrent. Not to mention that whole thing about images of Muhammad that lead to the "Draw Muhammad day" thing. Who the heck is going to want to create, produce, or stock this game? Islam is not unified and differant groups spent a lot of time fighting each other (such as Iran Vs. Iraq). Let's just say that even with a substantial market if someone came to me with an innocent program idea like "learn the Koran with Mohammad" like a sunday school game where Jesus teaches the bible or whatever, as things stand now I'd be pretty bloody reluctant to greenlight it even if massive sales were guaranteed for fear that some dude was going to try and kill me, retailers carrying the product, or blow up my company for daring to actually put Mohammad into a video game. Anonymous nerds doing stuff on the internet is one thing, but if these guys have a solid target that's something else entirely, and the death warrent for "Satanic Verses" makes it clear that if my name is on it, I could wind up in a similar position.

To be honest if we ever started to see Islamic software like that I'd find it a relief because it would be a sign that things are changing. I mean if we see Muslims not getting all upset over images of Mohammad or whatever, and actually producing them themselves for childen, that means the culture is changing and becoming more accepting, or at least tolerant enough to be dealt with more easily.

I know a lot of people can (and probably will) argue the points above, but that's my opinions. I'm not going to engage in a massive battle over it.

At any rate, on a more cheery and upbeat note, I wonder if Kirk Cameron has outdone his steller live action performance in "The Horde"... :)
Ty very much sir for not snubbing this idea.

*facepalms and starts crying*

Why can't people just lay off the christians who clearly aren't condemning anyone at this moment in time!?!?!

Jesus really shoulda laid out a set of rules to make sure christians didn't make asses out of themselves......wait he did and we didn't listen.

The real, key problem with these games is the same problem with most any edutainment: the goal isn't to have fun but to educate. Further, the games are in the hands of moral guardians; anything that might enhance the game and make kids want to learn is too objectionable and must be barred. People still remember Oregon Trail for no better reason than that you got to name your characters, who subsequently died of cholera, and got to write your own tombstone.

Yes, a survival horror game during the apocalypse would be neat, but that would involve actually depicting the apocalypse, which would surely destroy young minds. Yes, you could make a strategy game around conquering Canaan, but no lessons would be taught. Or you could have the main character be a Christian and show kindness and generosity to others, but that would either be boring or fail to match the Soldier of God thing they're going for these days.

So, Bible Trivia's all they got, but even that's fraught with peril. For instance: David returned Goliath's _____ to Saul to prove he had defeated the giant.
