Isaac turns his head to where he thinks the sound came from and whispers to Fitzgerald. "A friend of yours Fitzgerald? He sounds like a bundle of joy this one, as well as his pets"

Master always said that when you are deprived of one sense your others become significantly better, well I sure hope he was right otherwise I'll have to knock his head in Isaac thinks to himself as he closes his eyes trying to focus on his surroundings while letting out a small chuckle

"Greg the assertavley amazing? I thrice curse your name you blinded fool." Fitzgerald remembered the name and cursed it a thousand times in his head. "Issac, he is a foe from my past." Fitzgerald ducked low and held his shields to block either one of his sides," Come and fight me in the light you coward!!"

Trace looked around, he could not see very much, he wanted to change that. "Now I have reason for a better light source" he commented to himself. He moved his left hand over his right, which almost extinguished the light, but it grew brighter and brighter as Trace put more energy into it.

Finally the light was enough to illuminate the entire room, so he drew out his blade again, waiting for this 'Greg' to do something.

"Remember to stay behind me and don't get hit, ok?" said Garrent to Kinglet as he drew two stilettos and readied them in his hands, twirling them in his anxiety as he scanned the darkness with his emerald green eyes, scouring it for movement, but finding none.

"Mage, light up the cave dammit, we need to see this thing to dispatch it"

"Umm..." Trace said, looking at the bright light that he held in his hand. "I suppose I could make it brighter..." he threw that one in front of him, brightening up in front of him, he quickly made another, then threw it behind them, followed y one more, which he dropped on the ground near his feet. "Is that to your liking now?"

Fitzgerald was almost driven to lunacy by rage," Damn you Greg! Comeout here and face my steel in the way it was meant to be! I shall kill you and take your name, then I shall hunt down your ilk and kill the one who made us this way!" Fitzgerald's eyes looked anxiously from left to right with an animal like rage."I shall wear my helm when I rip your head from your body." His hair shimmered extremely aggresivley, very aggrivated, and ready to kill.

Trace throw a few balls of light across the room. Completely illuminating every corner ensuring no shadows remained. Yet there was nothing. Total silence, broken only by steady pounding of your heart. While this only lasted a few moments it seems like an eternity.

"Fitzgerald. Inform your foolish little friend that his parlor tricks won't work on me."

A clean shaven man with tidy black hair appears hovering in the air before you. He wears magnificent purple robes covered in runes and words of various languages, some known and some lost to the ages. He was slim, attractive even except for the fact his left arm was horribly disfigured and large. Completely disproportionate to his body. It was well muscled, covered in spidery veins and boils. His left hand ended in ebon claws. In his right hand he held a magnificent golden staff, adorned at the top with an ever moving eye.

"Or maybe I'll show him myself" spoke Greg.

His staff shot forward and a jet of green flame screamed towards the ground circling the group. Noxious smoke began to fill the cavern as the flames burned magically. He then charged up a globe of dark energy within the staff, purple electricity arced from it. He thrust the staff upward, the globes of light Trace had placed flickered and died. The only light now came from the toxic flames.

"Have fun Fitzgerald. If you live through this you can find me below. I'll be waiting"
Greg vanished from view as the growling of those unseen creatures started again.

The fumes were already beginning to build up, causing waves of nausea to roll throughout your stomach.

"You coward!!" Shouted Fitzgerald as he disapeared,"Any plans anyone? This gas could be the end of us. Trace, can you cancel out his magical efforts?" Fitzgerald felt the gas gathering around him.

Trace could feel some of the gas causing some sickness on him, but he knew he might be the only one who could get rid of it. He grasped his sword, and swung it wildly over to where they came from. A small amount of wind charged from behind him out to in front of him.

The gas began to move with the wind out of the tunnels, so they could slowly breath again. Once it was all gone, Trace dropped his sword and fell to his knees. "I hate Magic when you can't concentrate"

The fumes moved with the wind away from the group, but the flames remained. The menacing growls of the beasts getting closer as the sounds of claws scraping across the stone floor picked up the pace.

They were coming.

Alright, i'm out for the night. Seeing as I work tomorrow. Post when I'm done and just as insurance nothing silly happens. You guys probably have a few minutes before they get to you, and those flames aren't going to be dispelled unless you're really willing to weaken yourself to the point of near exhaustion. Greg put them there to stay ;) Though you can easily keep the fumes at bay... Just figured I'd say that so I don't come back tomorrow and find my poor beasties dead and the flames out already haha. Other then that, goodnight!

Fitzgerald readied his shields, if anyone or anything tried to attack, he'd repel them into the flames,"Of all places to find Greg the assertivley amazing, I must end him here."

"Come on big guy, we're gonna have our luck cut out for us enough as it is. Great job clearing out all that gas" Isaac says as he helps Trace to his feet and takes a position near Fitzgerald. I can't believe master Eovik left... Well I guess I shouldn't be THAT surprised, he always left the hard jobs for me. "Too old for this" he says...heh he wishes he was too old, he's still got a lot of fight left in him, guess I'll have to pick up the slack now that he's gone. Show them all what I can really do Isaac thinks to himself as he raises his pistol in the direction of the oncoming enemy readying himself to fire at the first sight of the enemy

Your group readies for the oncoming assault. The clawed sounds get within what seems like mere feet when they stop. Suddenly a pack of three very large creatures, resembling dogs, come flying through the flames. The skin peeled back on their face to reveal muscle and bone as well as row of viciously sharp teeth which drip with a green ichor. The rest of their bodies are covered in a shimmering purple coat, mottled with patches of green. The flames light dances off their fur making it hard to determine exactly where they are, projecting a sort of mirrored image. Jet black claws lead the charge.

Isaac lets off the shot he had been preparing but the dual images catch him off guard and the round fly harmless past the creature. The creature lands sliding across the ground and the other two follow suit. They turn their attention to the man with the gun and leap to attack great toothy maws wide with hunger.

Fitzgerald deftly moves in to block on of the creatures and push it into the the flames using his mighty tower shield. The creature slams into the shields but is far to large and forceful to be so easily thrown back. It rolls to its feet and roars in defiance at Fitzgerald as the other two dart past heading towards the rest of a group.

"Wha...What in the nine hells are these things?" Isaac exclaims as he see's the creature jump at him from the darkness. Isaac quickly holsters his pistol, bends his knee's and readies himself for the next attack by placing his hand just above the pommel of his sword.

Shit, these things are creepy as hell... And the flames aren't helping, damn that Greg. No wonder Fitzgerald hates him

This should be simple enough, just have to wait till it charges me again, meet it halfway, draw just before it bites me, pivot and slash right through its big toothy maw. Those flames shouldn't displace this monster enough for me to miss completely and the pivot should help spin me enough to make sure that neither its claws nor it's teeth get me Isaac closes his eyes for a bit longer than a standard blink while breathing deeply, preparing himself mentally for the next attack

I was just wondering if there were any stipulations to readying attacks or not, since right now I'd like Isaac to be able to draw, hit and dodge in a single fluid motion if thats alright/plausible for when one of the "dogs" attack

Edit made to coincide with Dommius' post about Readied Actions

Just word whatever your trying to do into your post, and when I do my next post how well it works is determined but the difficulty of what your trying, the clarity/quality of your post and what it is your going up against. I think that seems fair.

Nailos falls back behind the safty of Fitzgeralds shields. He then casted a spell that empowers those with energy. It was a little spell he picked up during training from a chanter who used it for those long study nights. Though not powerful it should help give Fitz that extra energy to keep those beast at bay while everyone else made a counter attack.

Fitzgerald pressed himself into the ground to gain more stability for his shield wall. He knew that the flames wouldn't help, but if he held off the dogs long enough his allies would be able to finish them.

Trace smiled as he felt the extra energy being moved into him. He put his hands in the air to grab as much of the extra power that he could, then commented "You all might want to take a step back"

The Mage did not wait for anyone to say anything, he crouched down and slammed his hands into the ground. The ground in front of Fitzgerald began to crack open, leaving a large hole in its wake. The hole kept expanding out sideways until it covered the entire floor. He could not see over the large shields, but he hoped that it did something, at least slow them down.

Isaac readied himself for one of the oncoming beasts and not a moment too soon he leapt forward, sword in hand to meet the beast, at the last second he preformed a quick pivot in an attempt to dodge the oncoming claws and land a viscous blow. It almost worked, the sight of two beasts charging threw him off and he ended up dodging directly in line of the beast. His sword shot out in a vain attempt to fend the beast off, piercing the creatures upper shoulder.

The dog lands on Isaac, black claws turning crimson as the tear into his flesh. It opens it's mouth wide as if to take out the downed artificers throat.

Fitzgerald stood defiant in the face of these beasts. The one he had managed to stop from before growled and was beginning a charge, which the warrior was more then ready for, when the ground in front of him began to widen into a large crack. The dog like beast tried to leap off to the side and avoid the sudden backup provided by Trace but the hole continued to widen and it landed with only it's front paws on the edge, desperately trying to pull itself back up.

The crack expanded just a few feet further but it was enough to reach the flames. As the earth spread apart it broke the circle and suddenly the flames vanished, the cavern was plunged into utter darkness.

The sudden darkness didn't affect the beasts as the remaining one silently snuck up behind the man who had slammed his hands into the ground and caused such destruction. Silent as any worthy predator it had moved a few feet away completely unheard. Letting out a loud growl it charged forward in a rapid dash, it's toothy maw coming down hard on the mages arm. The green ichor which was dripping from it's mouth doing its work effectively as almost instantly you feel like your left arm is burning from the inside, the searing pain begins to spread upwards towards your shoulder.
