Kinglet sniffed.

"If he can offer him there coin--"her chin jerked into Trance's general direction"--then he don't need to be making such a fuss over us wanting a share of the shinies too, eh? We're needing full bellies, and food costs coin. And errand running uses lots of energy. Which means lots of food."

She had spoken softly, but loud enough for most of the gathered folks to hear her.

"Just saying."

"I don't want coins. I want my sword back. Trace said in a demanding tone of voice towards Tanan. He had grown tired of this situation, he wished to leave and go back to his Templars, but he knew he couldn't.

He grabbed the hilt of his sword, not in a threatening manor, just to see that it was still safe and there.

"How much coin we talking? As my assosiate so eloquently put it, an errand is going to be worth alot of compensation"

Garrant was slightly taken aback by the mention of his history, the only person he'd shared that with was Kinglet.... And possibly some serving girls......And noblemens wives...

Nailos' growing weary of this aruging, his thoughts were turning back to the abby the fresh green grass, the smoth stone walls. He knew his decision when he left the abby and brought his thoughts back to now.

"Trace" Nailos said as he turned to him "I understand you desire your sword but think of your fellow travelers, normally I would never accept coin to help someone but if he is offering then I wouldn't mind, we after all like kinglet said need to eat." Nailos unsure of his own argument takes a different approach "Tranan, if we do this for you could you spare some coin and imformation on our friends sword here?"

"Ah it seems I may have ending your training too soon Isaac your still taking unnecessary risks" Eovik grins at his old apprentice "And aye you'll be needing my help I reckon with all your foolishness and such." Eovik turns back to Tanan and gives him a cold stare. " It seems you have my old apprentice interested in yer task and I by no means am going to just let him wander about getting into who knows what without me there to pull his arse outta the fire so you have me aswell." Eovik motions to Issac. "Come here and help me get back up on that house my neck is sore from looking up at all of ye and I'll be a bloody gnome if I'm gonna stand here and try to see over that glittering wall of a man." Eovik grumbles to himself "chest high wall my arse I'd have a better chance of seeing under him then over him."

Maverick thought carefully 'This would be tricky. I can't very well say to the Royal Representative that I seek the Deaths of a Good Portion of Nobles.....and everyone who tries to stop me really. At the same time, I have to make it convincing, so I have to say something mixed with a grain of truth. However, it must also be something that both convinces, and does not disgust my current allies. I will need them for the times ahead. But first, let's see something....'

Maverick crossed his arms, and asked Tanan "Okay, first thing. You may know about Garrant, but how about me? or really, Do you know anything about anyone else in here? Second, You're Goals.....seem Clandestine. While I'm willing to work with you, you'll have to say what you want us to do. Third, I'm not in it for the Money. But there are somethings that I would like to obtain from you. I'm sure that you're contacts can get it for me?"

Tanan looked outwards to the group he had gathered. Dangerous every last one of them. Unfortunately it was what was needed.

"I can offer you free food and lodgings at the inn and tavern here for as long as you are helping me. Trace, as I promised I can also hopefully set you on the path of your sword. I know not of it's true location, but my network is quite extensive. I'm sure it will show up. Also, for our more opportunistic members I can offer some coin as compensation. Will this perhaps suffice?"

Tanan glanced to the man who called himself Maverick. His eye's extremely cautious. "I know a bit about everyone yes. Except you, that is true. Which raises many questions for myself but now is not the time to discuss such things. However we can discuss compensation for now, what is it you would wish me to look in to?" His voice was curious, but steady as he spoke.

Nailos let out a sigh before speaking, "While I don't speak for the whole group, I could say that Me and Sir Fitzgerald only desire the food and logings, as for my more subtly and shadowy compainions you can guess the wish for a decent payment, and Trace only wishes for information. Is this a fair trade?"

"Its better to be opportunistic and have a full belly, then stuck up and starved" said Garrant as he stepped backwards and resumed his position next to Kinglet, he leaned in, covering his mouth with his hand and spoke into her ear.

"Shall we bite? Might get some good loot outta it, 'specially since we might be visiting HIS manse"

"Mh," Kinglet agreed.

They could just slip away if things turned awry. They were good at that. Well, he was, at any rate.

She tilted her head slightly and offered Garrant a bright smile--the sort she reserved for him.

"If he pays well enough, eh?"

Maverick replied "There are some....Items that I require for a certain pet project of mine. While I rather not explain the details now, I would very much like for you to give these Items to me sometime during, or after this...Quest. However, at least Half of these Items must be given to me During the quest. I am sorry but I have been double-crossed before, and I rather not repeat it." He said with a smile.

Tanan turned to the priest. Smiling as he spoke. "Yes, quite acceptable. I'm quite glad things didn't have to get unpleasant here."

If they did nobody would have been allowed to survive, He thought. My guards are here, I'm not unprepared myself. They act tough yet they are still young in the world. There is much to learn. However I should tread with care... This is a delicate situation we all rest in now and they think I'm the bad guy. A necessary sacrifice.

Tanan had grown pensive in his stance, eyes filled with thoughts and concern.

Garrant returned the smile, though slightly more reservedly than normal, he didn't want people to think they had too strong a bond and so try to abuse that bond for their gain.

He returned his glance to Tanan and looked him up and down once more, these Dutchy folks were always sneaky, they had to be to survive in their world, daggers in their smiles and fingers crossed behind every back, it was not unlike the world that he grew up in, though the hostility was often more blatant and so, more manageable.

"If we get suitably compensated then.... We're in"

Trace stood there, ignoring everyone else. They already knew he was going to go if it involved his sword. He didn't much care for anyone else's request, but his ears perked up a little at Mavericks, That guy seems like bad news... What would he want? he thought to himself, keeping himself solitary and quiet for the moment.

Maverick's face rose up in surprise slightly, and he said "Thank You Nailos, these items will help us all in the long run. But in any case, those are my demands to join. I will show you this list later Tanan, but all I need from you is a Yes or No."

Tanan looked to the thieves. "Glad to have you aboard. As I said before, I'll provide the fee for food and lodgings at the in for all of you. Maverick if you wish to speak to me about your payment in a more private setting we may. However it will be in the presence of my guards if you are alright with that."
He looked around once more to his newly bought allies. This will have to do.
"For now, I take my leave. I will contact you within a few days and provide some details on the task at hand. Any questions you have can wait until then."
Tanan walked away with the two guards closest to him flanking him on either side. Several more emerged from the rooftops and shadows forming an armed column as they left.

'Hmm didn't spot the one on that roof, no matter, he wasn't in the way'

The night was still young and Garrant didn't feel like resting, perhaps a job? There was another mansion besides Tanan's that they'd spotted so why not?

He turned to Kinglet and gave her a devious smile, the kind of smile he gave her when he had a plan, to anyone else it would simply be construed as a friendly gesture but Kinglet would know what it meant.

After a moment he spun on his heel and left to retrieve his gear from the alley he'd stashed it in and hopefully rendezvous with Kinglet. Leaving his gear in his room would have been a bad, bad mistake, anyone could stumble across the lockpicks or vials of poison and call the guards.

Thieves and opportunists were rampant in these parts and to survive in his world, you needed to think one step ahead.

At least.

Nailos seeing Garrant and Kinglet leaving was about to go in pursite but decided it wasn't worth the trouble. Nailos tired, thought it would be nice to go to this towns local abby and pray then go to the inn for food and rest. Nailos turned to his commrades "I need to go pray. For all of us." Nailos whispered the last part and set off to the abby.
