the door to the in is thrown open, and Taven, a tall man in half-plate armor strides inside. he has a pair of swords belted at his waist on opposing sides. his helmet is angular and conceals his face. he strides over to fitzgerald. out of the descriptions he was given the shinning knight was the easiest to spot

"I assume you are fitzgerald. Lassaelynn sent me to find you and the others he has...hired."

Taven didn't bother with formalities, he had no love of nobles. even so, he had heard decent things about this "Tanan Lassaelynn" and supposed doing one job for him wouldn't hurt. Taven was nonetheless eager to complete his tasks and be away from this nobleman.

The two thieves were talking on the rooftop as the morning sun rose lighting up the sky like a spreading flame, unaware they were being watched from a distance. A small bronze mechanical bird flew towards them, its air elemental core humming with power. As it approached the them a small scroll tied to its leg became noticeable. The machine landed on the females shoulder and allowed her to take the scroll then opened it's beak and mimicked the chirp of a real bird as it took to the skies once more, returning to its master.

The writing on the note was the same as before, beautifully written yet quick and to the point.

"Details on the task at hand will be revealed at the tavern, I suggest you stop pilfering my town and return when you can." There was a small space between that sentence and the next, as if it was an afterthought. "Though, I never really like that one, he tried stealing my title and rights to this town before."

"He doesn't know" said Garrant as he finished reading the paper over Kinglet's shoulder, he returned his gaze to the horizon and just watched it for a moment, taking in the view as best as he could, taking a mental snapshot to preserve and take with him wherever he went.

"Well, he doesn't know for sure. He hears the fatty got robbed, thinks of us and trails me with that stupid contraption from the inn, the only destination where we have been sighted and so the only destination he could place surveillance"

Garrant smiled at the intricacy of the set-up, just have the bird watch him exit the tavern and approach them when they were together, both of them more concerned with human foes following them instead of a winged tin-pot.

"He's bluffing, trying to make us think he knows more than he does, simple tactic, creates the illusion of power and control when really he knows nothing"

He turned back to Kinglet and gave her a smile, mostly of pride at how she had handled herself, both sneaking up on him here and with the whole manse business.

"So Kay, feeling ready to meet with the mystery man? Just act dumb on the robbery right?"

"Yes", said Fitzgerald finishing off all the ale in his tankard." I am Fitzgerald the Suitably the Amazing. And might I ask who you are? I'm not too keen to know that a man who walks in public fully armed and armoured is seeking out me and my freshly made companions. But, you were sent nontheless, they are over their" Fitzgerald's hair swished as the gleaming sun as he turned his head to point at the crowded table of the Templars." There are others, but I don't know where they are." Who would come to a place such as this in full raiment, even I, a man who is akin to a iorn wall wear not my mail here

Kinglet sniffed at the morning air and caught a whiff of something that resembled breakfast. That, or left overs from last nights dinner. Her stomach gave a quiet murmur.

"Mh. Ready as can be."

She turned and tilted her chin up. And then (out of a whim, really) lifted a hand to prod his right shoulder where she suspected he might have been wounded last night.

"Though what about you?"

Garrant winced and reflexively withdrew his shoulder from her touch, the cut was sealed but now his shoulder was a massive burn.

'She must have seen the...'

"Shard... I'll be fine, just a flesh wound. Anyway, lets go, don't want the 'puppet master' tugging our strings"

He gave Kinglet a small nod, as he hopped from the roof and slid down a drainpipe to the ground, he touched down gently and began to walk casually towards the inn, taking a large, circuitous route once more to shake off any un-wanted tails.

taven shifts slightly to glance at the templars. he didnt see why it was important that he watch these people, but if it was for good pay then why not.
he observed the man in front of him; such an obtrusive title, flowery language too. even as he points he seems to do it with a flourish, must he be so showy?
"theres been some brutal murders, and some robberies. I'd hate to be caught...underdressed. once you are all assembled and sober enough, I have information for you all on where and when the next meeting is. I'll be waiting in this room until then."

A shaft of light from the sun's dawn fell upon Fitzgerald as he walked to the templar's table, his golden blond hair shining from the fresh sunlight. He was moderatly suprised to see Issac pursuing romantic actions with one of templars. "I'm afraid that the time for mirth is done, and we must go poste haste to meet that man" His hair shimmered as he turned to look at the heavily armoured man. "He holds the terms for the quest we are to soon partake in." He then walked upstairs and knocked on the door of Nailos's room." Awaken my friend, we have a task to partake in, another test to be met." Fitzgerald's eyes gleamed waiting for another chance to preform a quest.

Eovik Sliding down off his barstool slowly follows Fitzgerald to the Templars table. "new man in the group I see... I'll have to make my assessments on him later. For now I'm content knowing that I believe I can count on Nialos, Fitzy and Trace to be fairly honorable members of this group. Issac I trust my life with and am happy that he found some relaxation last night even though he thinks I didn't notice ha! I'll have to remember to give that girl... Ivaio if I heard correctly.. some tips on her magitek eye her arm was done well enough and needs no changes but I bet she would be quite thrilled to see out of that eye in shades other then orange ha she has the base right use a fire elemental to create light and nerve connections in the eye socket to create visuals again but if you add a water elemental as a lens format in front of the fire elemental it can bend the light in conjunction with the fire elemental and give you shades of blue and green as well. Ah I'll have to give Issac a scroll detailing it out to her... and Maverick is strictly not to be trusted...wouldn't have even seen him if Trace hadn't called him over. He must not have encountered Dwarves very much at all in his life. Dirt on clothes for a dwarf is a easy thing to see so are the patterns the dirt makes on his clothes and if my eyes serve me right those patterns are completely different from the ones early last night. He was wearing a fresh set of clothes barely any dirt on them and then he changes them! and no one changes clothes only to dawn a new pair of the same set unless he wants to hide that he did something mark my words he was up to dark deeds last night.. I'll have to warn Issac but keep these suspicions to myself till more proof shows up. Eovik looks up startled to see he has been in front of the Templars table deep in thought for probably minutes but no one seems to have noticed having had too much to drink the night earlier. "Issac my boy come it seems we have a messenger to listen too and I've got some scrolls I'd like you to give you to study over.." Eovik looks up and down at the young Ivaio on his lap. "that is if your not to busy" Eovik winks at his former apprentice "and I've got some blueprints for some weapon and exosuit designs that I thought up that I think would be very helpful to us for this upcoming task."

Isaac gives Ivaio another kiss before sweeping her gracefully into his arms and placing her down gently on his seat. Isaac winks at her and gives her one last kiss before saying "Don't worry, I'll be back. Eventually, and i'll make sure to take good care of Trace for you too" isaac says with a laugh and a grin from ear to ear

Eovik leads Issac over to his pack and starts rummaging through his papers "ah now on to business. Issac those scrolls I wanted you to study are just some design schematics for that young girl's eye It will make it work better and I'm sure she'll be delighted with you haha. I think you should look it over before you give it too her though as I don't believe we covered magitek prosthetics to that in-depth of a degree in your training. As for the weapon schematics well those can wait till after we hear from the messenger as it will take hours for me to show you them and the exosuit schematics aren't completely drawn out yet and I would like to have you help me on them. I'm also glad you had so much fun last night" Eovik smiles at Issac and pulls him in closer for a hearty slap on the back. "You still haven't got my training down packed I see? that motto doesn't seem to hanker so well for you anyways". Eovik smiles broadly and just before letting go of Issac and letting him stand back up to head over to the messenger whispers very softly to him. "Maverick is not to be trusted I can't prove anything but trust me when I say don't cross him or let him out of your sight he did... something last night hes trying to hide." Eovik then closes his pack and also heads over to the messenger.

The tavern had more or less cleared out by now. All that remained was your newly formed group and a figure obscured in the corner who had fallen asleep long ago. Garrant and Kinglet entered the main room just as Fitzgerald and Nailos. Everyone had finally assembled.

The figure in the corner leapt up as everyone was finally together. As the shadows withrew from his face covered in various scars. His hair was kept short and was the colour of ravens feathers. A billowing grey cloak concealed the rest of his body.

"Greetings," He said, smiling a rather uncomfortable smile. It didn't fit his face at all. "My name is Lyle, an agent of Tanan at your service." He looked to Tavin. "Do not worry friend, you don't have to explain the situation to them any longer. I'll take over from here."

Lyle circled the group looking over everyone, muttering to himself the entire time. When he got the point where he started he stood straight and then sighed. "What an odd bunch. Desperate times I suppose. Regardless. What I have for you is some details on the task at hand. You are all aware that we are currently sitting on one of the purest water sources in the Nation correct?" Lyle waits for the nods of acknowledgment as they circle across the group. "Good now what you may or may not know is that the source of that water is the elementals that reside there. They keep the water pure and replenish it's supply. Thats where the problem is however. We had worked out a deal with them, we wouldn't hunt them for cores or use Magitek devices in our daily lives if they allowed us the usage of their water. That was the deal. Lately we've been unable to access the water through our well. Its been sealed off or something. A week ago we sent off a scout party to check the entrance outside of town. Those scouts are dead. Whatever killed them though, it wasn't an elemental. The died before the enter the underground." Lyle spoke in an urgent tone, as if every second he spent explaining the situation was a second wasted.

Why didn't Tanan just send them out the night before? Allowing them one more night of life? The fool. The reserve was getting dangerously low, soon they would have to cut off the peasants, they'd have a potential revolt in their then.

Snapping out of his thoughts he looked back out to the group they were following him pretty well so far but he should elaborate a bit more. "Let me explain what I mean when I say the underground. The reservoir is directly beneath the city this is true, however entrance to it is several hours trek to the east. There, along a rocky hillside is a cave opening, that my friends is the entrance to the reservoir. The labyrinthine tunnels go down for several miles, crossing each other and leading to dead ends. So you must be incredibly careful to follow the sound of running water, it echoes off the walls as the elementals dance and play. The journey won't be easy but thats why you were picked. We can't spare any of our own men and everyone here is capable of handling themselves. The mision is a simple yet crucial one, get down in that hole and find out what hell is going on. If you can, figure out what killed our men as well." His last sentence was spoken with a tinge of rage over his fallen friends. He had lost his brother in that mission.

Another pause in his speech. Began to rummage through his cloak, he produced a small silken pouch and walked towards the dwarf who was busy stuffing scrolls and blueprints every which way. "Here, inside are some of the catalysts required to trap the essence of an elemental. These are to be used as a last resort and only if they attack you first."

He then turned to Maverick. "I believe you have a list of items you wish for? Either show me or hand me the list and I will get them as quick as possible. Only half of them, as that was the deal. The other half when you return."

Lyle then returned to his previous postion. "All right" he said loudly. "Any questions?"

Fitzgerald wondered what he would want Hmm... Oh I know. Fitzgerald walked up to the man named Lyle "All I desire from this venture is a suitable beast to bear my loads when I travel. I desire this to be taken from a place where it is not needed, if taken by force I will see it as a grave insult upon myself." With that Fitzgerald turned and left to go fetch his armor and shields, his hair gleaming with the light from the sun outside.

Fitzgerald turned his head as he walked away, his hair forming a solid wall of sparkeling gold," Good, give me a white one if you have any." With that he left to go get his armour.

Eovik weighed the pouch in his hand probably enough to capture one or two lesser elementals or if handled the right way one average one... "These supplies are appreciated although I have enough of the catalyst to get by for now roughly the same amount I'd wager... but it will go to good use I assure you." Eovik hands the pouch to Issac " I saw your stores were getting low you shouldn't let that happen or you could be left empty handed when opportunity comes knockin and that would be a shame eh boy?" Eovik turns back to Lyle. " As for not capturing any elementals I will not capture any water elementals unless they prove hostile any other elementals we run into I will be capturing if I wish. I also request a map of the reservoir and several water-resistant oil lanterns for our group here."

Fitzgerald walked into his room, he saw a barmaid walk past his room." Oh young lady, would you assist me in doning my raiment." She decided to help him. She was about to place his scowling helmet on his head," No, I hope I will not have to wear this for a long time." He stepped outside, his armor gleaming heavily from the polish, his shields strapped to his back. His hair fell down his back as a waterfall. His body caried the weight with ease, he waited for his allies. He shouted out to no one in particular," I go a questing, and hopefully I will return." His armor shimmered as if gold and his hair glowed with the sunlight, he was ready.

As Eovik brought to my attention, I never actually went into detail about how this part actually works so I will now.

To capture an elemental spirit you need two things;
1) A Crystal Catalyst
2) A living, but weakened elemental

I'll cover acquiring Catalysts first then move on to the elemental.

Acquiring a Catalyst is not as simple of a procedure as one would think. Catalyst crystals must be refined from a very specific ore which is found across the land, unfortunately there is no distinct pattern to the kinds of areas these crystals show up in. For a long time it was believed that Catalyst Crystals were found in area's where high concentrations of mana once resided now, however we know this is not true. Crystal deposits have sprung up in area's with no recorded magical residue and some have failed to be uncovered in areas blanketed in it.

Once a crystal is mined it must be refined, this involves the smoothing out of all imperfections until the Crystal is a perfect sphere, reflecting the light like a prism. This can take hours upon hours of work and a single error can destroy the crystals worth. Only an expert artificer attempts such a feat. When the crystal is formed however a Catalyst is made.

Now, on to elementals.

So, we have our Catalyst now we need an elemental. Well, finding them isn't easy and nobody really knows where they are except for some loose guidelines. Elemental spirits usuaully manifest in areas containing high doses of mana and their prime element.

If you luckily find and elemental the next thing to do is weaken it through force. Fight it until it can barely fight back, this is when you prime your Catalyst. Priming a catalyst is done by taking out an unmarked sphere and quickly etching a set of runes corresponding to the elemental you face. (Refer to page 207 in the Artificers handbook should you forget) The Catalyst will being to glow brightly, the colour varies depending on the elemental of course. Once then is happening you have a short time frame to plunge the sphere into the creatures chest before runes lose power and the Catalyst becomes useless.

So there you have it, capturing and enslaving elementals made easy!

I'm going to edit this into my post on the first page as well for reference
