City of Heroes? More like City of Bias (Happy NOW? )

Hi i'm a long time fan of Escapist and i have no idea if this is the right section to post this, but this isn't obvious a "Love" of City of heroes, Is me trying to keep the good Money spending Gamer, away from the nazi game known as "City of heroes" a place where everything goes wrong.

If your like me you enjoy the good old Roleplay, whats better than Roleplaying a villian right? i've always enjoyed being the villian, And COH does enforce a Wonderful selection of clothing, over half you have to buy in VERY large amounts (One piece of clothing is worth $5..and its just a Coat.)

Now allow me to get to the reason Why you should stay away from COH.

The reason why i have called it City of Nazi's is because I have recently just read the terms and such over the game and i just can't help but face palm over the Money sucking Trap they have lead me in.

Many of you would know RPG's have their trolls, So you can RP being the most badass Villian ever, you'll still get some Loon named "Old man Bob" running up to you and saying something retarded (Hes been banned 3 times..and he still pays to play an idiot...Good god the children of the future suck BALLS.)

A rule of NCsoft basicly says "You may not Threaten, Give unwanted attention to.." Can't remember the rest but its basicly what you'd call "Harrass". The amount of harrassing thats been going on, It surprises me to No end. even in their Support they have a little dot you can click that reads "Harrassment" And if you send it away 30min later you may get an -email- Telling you nothing could be done, or the players could not be found (Wonder why..) If you are lucky enough to even GET an admin, their response is tipicly "Who is it, Login name? We'll look into it.". From what i am told from the community there, Admins don't do anything in terms of harrassment, They expect -us- to do the work for them, EG: Use ignore. IGNORE does not stop everyone.


A second rule of NCsoft, No using Sexual Language of any kind anywhere within the game _> And yet- Check the common chat, nearly everyone swears. So What the hell does this admin team do all day. If they are being PAID, and i was there boss, i'd want them fired. I'd prefer admins that Cyber than admins that do Nothing but take a paycheque.They have a profanity Filter and an option to turn it off, but they don't want to swear...So its like they are setting players Up to be Suspended -_-

Now to the main point of my anger towards this game and WHY you should stay away from it, The above was just so you can understand the game and how you'll be treated (like an idiot basicly. Unless your level 50. then you'll be treated like a noob unless some friends are "Long time gamers")

Two nights ago i was RPing in the D club (The hotspot of RP basicly) i was standing at the bar playing out my character (A down to core ***** pritty much who thought she owned everything.) And a player walks up to me, a quick read of her profile tells me shes RP experienced her IC race "Ogre" A little new but mmk. She Immediately starts Enforcing her characters lore onto my character and when she realises i won't Accept it, she walks off to the corner of the room with her friends and starts PMing me, Treating me like a complete noob who doesn't know what "Godmodding" is. (She clearly didn't.). I quickly place her on Ignore once i have had my say and get back to RPing with my friends (Dragonkin clan ftw.) The next day i get on and i am Rping with my friends to the side of the D bar and i see a Dragonkin walk in, I was excited to see another possible member for my clan....until i read his profile and his name slowly...His name was a Male version + mockery of my Characters name (Mine: Queen Pythina. His: Lord Pythionusthemom) His profile read "The First Dragon EVA" i quickly put him on ignore and i tried rping but what he was saying to them clearly bothered me when the conversation went to "mating". I seen Another dragonkin walk in, same attire as the first, Lord-something and his Info was basicly the same. I knew who the hell sent them so i quickly checked the bar, Immediately i seen the Ogre girl from the night before standing in the centre of D looking towards me as if to say "Whatupbitch" I quickly Typed out a support thread and sent it to harrassment, and i ignore the Dragonkinnoobs until they get bored and logged onto their original characters, which, surprise surprise, were ogres as well. (NEVER Feed the Troll. or in this case, ogre.) I am logging out for the day getting bored and wanting to play something different so i check my emails quickly, i see i got two from the admining staff of COH. First: "we could not find The two you reported, are you sure you got there names right?" So obviously they deleted their characters after.

The second email read: "Dear Trixie, We have given your account a 72 hour Suspension for Sexual language." it then listed some examples One was given to the two trolls in Local chat (Which the admin could have used to Ban them as well) And the others were all private chats to my friends.

All in all I have had enough of this game and its trolls, they have lost a player and i hope they lose alot more than when TOR comes out. I am trying desperately to get my money back to play WOW atleast, cause they have an admin system that WORKS time to time.

Checking the Refund policy they do not give refunds blahblahblah Sueing action blahblahblah. But the way they have written the rules pritty much contradicts the game itself so I'm still going to fight hard for my money.

Thanks for reading and stay away from COH if you want a good time, You'll spend alot of money on some shiney stuff, and then get trolled half the time by some idiot.

isn't it FTP? any way, yeah I certainly wont be giving them more money, but we might come trolling you again, it was pretty funny you have to admit and see it from our side

Ok i can see a few people trolling over one part of the major issue, i am saying they are Ignoring The mass who break these rules, but only enforce it on those who Make them work, They are a lazy pack of idiots.

More to the fact i can see people more crazed about the name and spamming "Godwins law" than the actual issue and just seeming to get things wrong..

So please if your any kind of unchildish people, Read the info, The title may have been out of line but it was the best way i could describe the fact People are getting away with so much crap and I had to put up with it. Personally i am not going back to a game that can't even -PM- you when you have been reported for your Costume being "Too TM" <- true story. One of my characters- Alex Chapel Was Reported for being TM material and was immediately reset, took me 1 day to get an admin response to which it was "Your character is Involved with TM material towards Hellsings Alexander Anderson' All cause i made him practically a bible basher. Literally.

And i did ignore them, i had them on Global Ignore lists, had there Global names Sent to the admins + Character names and I acted as if they completely didn't exist..But when you have someone who feeds trolls "Jo Kitty" She was talking to them and all i heard off of her was Something involving "mating" which just made me go "No way..'[/quote]

it's good that you took the steps to place them on an ignore list, yet you should have also just ignored this "Jo Kitty". I understand it's frustrating to create your own fantastically character then to watch other muck it up, I realize that you'd been feed up with how the game was run and this simply the last straw, yet you have to understand why your going to be seen as the party in the wrong here. You can't compare them to the Nazis.

I'd suggest editing your post with an apology for the comparison then let us continue this conversation.

EDIT: Also, plural nouns don't have apostrophes. "Nazi's" would be possessive, as in "the Nazi's ham sandwich".

Murderous, and controlling, though the Nazis were during their rein of power, World War II was the height of German sandwich making.

Sounds pretty awful, although I'm certainly lucky to not experience something like that in any game, even in "The Barrens chat".

As for super-hero games, you should try Champions Online and/or DC Universe, both are great, especially DC Universe and if you're into role playing, DC Universe can be good for you, as it has plenty of space to be a hero or a villain, in PVP, pretty much any villain can gank you, it's especially epic when other heroes come over to help out. Some are even more competent than Green Lantern himself.

I REALLY like DC's layout overall (Costumes may not be as Costumizable) But RP there is SO hard to find. as i said about C.O i couldn't get past the Character creation without feeling somewhat Ill. Its too...heroey...

Thank you for the change that should make things a bit easier to deal with in this forum. Moving on the main point of trying to find a replacement. I have to ask a few things.

I ask these out of ignorance, but do they have moderators for different servers? Was the server you were on the only one that does roleplaying? Just how popular is roleplaying, and how frequently is it encountered?

I'm asking to see if it's possible for you to find a way to remain a part of cities of Heroes. You've obviously put some time into it and I'd hate to see that go to waste.

So yes i did everything by the "Big Book of How to get rid of trolls" One, ignore them, As soon as i seen them, I placed them on ignore. Second, don't feed them, I made one comment as they were walking towards me, Then i ignored them.

Jo Kitty- I have no idea if he/she was trying to help me or not (I say he/she because ...It RPs a Transexual) She says feed the trolls until they get bored, I went with the normal logic, Don't feed them they'll get bored and go away.

I am not complaining about them cause they disliked my RP But its freedom of RP (Honest to god i wish i thought of what gusto said.) I've always said if they don't like it they can ignore me and i'll ignore them, I never wanted trouble Myself and my group just RPed. But its the fact that she went Out of her way to get 2 of her friends to troll me that got me ticked, She went out of her way to harrass my character. So i reported them and I got in trouble for a word That everyone AS A TEENAGER uses. I can honestly Expect N word and such but the F word? wasn't/Isn't WOW a Teen game and we have..how many people screaming F*** in a PVP match?

*edit* And Sober you read me explaining to my friend in a Tell what an Idiot tried RPing against me..he was a lvl 8 and...pritty much did everything in that..I just shorted it and made it on a horse. (Cause when i explained to her she said it sounds alot like that.)

Really don't go there. In a situation like this it's best to come off as neutral. The reason that the Law is held so dearly because of just how important it is to some people. The very idea the trivial things that people compare to a political party that committed near genocide and helped spark one of the largest and most devastating wars in all of our combined history, well you can see why people might be offended. Comparing the need to keep the understanding of just how "Evil", I put it in quotes do to my own personal opinion of how Evil is defined, to that of a single person bad experiences is the higher priority to some people.

Large paragraph about the importance of history aside, I have to wonder what you were hoping to accomplish with this thread?

Forgive me for seeming callous, but this really sounds like just another day at the races.

I don't play MMO's because, in order of importance, I don't like subscriptions, grinding, or having to play with other people. You also might find that the grass is greener on the singleplayer side of the fence.

Most people don't seem to be offended by your Nazi comments so much as attempted to show you how you weren't helping your argument. In that spirit:
