He didn't believe what he was about to say really need to be said... It almost hurt him, having to say the words. "If she tries to escape, block her. She can't be trusted not to run off again." Savannah nodded and Hammond took it as his signal to enter the room.
He nudged the door open and stepped inside, the only light in the room coming from a lantern outside the door, a sliver of light visible through a crack in the frame. It went and was shining, like a beacon though the darkness, directly towards where Ari was laying. He could see only her face, so peaceful it was in her sleep.
But then, why was she on the floor? Her bed remained unused. Had Savannah selfishly disallowed her to use it? No. Most certainly she had used it, he could see the sheets strewn all over the room. As if... as if she had gotten up at some point.
He dropped down to her height and brushed Ari's hair to one side, wanting to see her face more clearly in the dim light. When he brushed, his hands were stained red and they retreated, scared by what they might have just uncovered. "Ari?" He asked, concernedly, and attempted to shake her awake, hoping it had been his imagination playing tricks.
"Ari. Say something. Wake up. Do anything!"
