Alright it's time to show your age. What classic consoles do you remember, have you played, or do you still own and which was your favorite?

I'll start it out. My favorite of the old consoles has to be my good solid NES original. It was a tank as far as the console was concerned. Came with TWO controllers, none of this one and make you pay for the second stuff everyone does now. It also came with a light gun, the classic Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt combo cart and cost a whopping $200 when I first got it back in 1987.

Older than that I also have A Sega Master system, Atari 2600 and a Magnavox Odyssey. I also owned a Commodore VIC20 which sold for $300 in 1984.

So lets get the classics rolling.

Not actually a console but my first machine was a Speccy 48, then upgraded to a +2a then a Commadore 128.
Only after that did I graduate onto the mighty mighty Super Nintendo Entertainment System!
Surely the finest games machine ever?!

Sadly I no longer own any of these - the oldest machine I have and still play is my trusty Dreamcast which splutters into life occaisionally so I can bask in the glory of Jet Set Radio.

I still play PS1 games but on my PS2 and games dating back to the dawn of time on emulators.

The SNES. I wasted more hours with Secret of Mana, Lufia and Illusion of Time than most other games these days.

First console I got was a Megadrive. That still works. Before that I was all about the home computer. Started with a ZX-81.

I remember NES, but never had one. First console was a Sega Master System, I believe it was version 1 and had Alex Kidd built into it. That's another thing that's missing today, built in games - Xbox360 has built in demos but that doesn't count.

I hated the NES... spent more time blowing into the cartidges and the machine than I did actually playing games... also had an original Gameboy that I lost in Cincinatti :(

But back then, and up until Microsoft released the first Xbox, i was mostly a PC player... playing MUDs (text-based MMORPGs, of a sort)... and games like Space Quest or King's Quest (rockin games)

I have the SNES with Duck Hunt, spent hours on that game until I realised that it was just the same again and again with the only difference the speed increasing.
I also have a Sega Master System II with Kick-ass big Cartridges. I remember I used to play Sonic, Wonderboy III or Super Space Invaders for hours.

And offcourse, The Nintendo Gameboy. Generation 1.

I started on NES, and kept with Nintendo. I also had a friend who started with a Master System and stayed with Sega and then Sony, so between us we have sampled every good gaming advance. On consoles at least.

Well, I think my favorite may be the N64 for goldeneye, mario 64, and the two zelda games.
The ones I own:
GBP (pocket)
2 GBC
GBA
GBASP
NES
2 SNES
N64
GCN
Genesis
2 Game Gear
PS2 (Broken cd motor)
PS2 slim
PSP
Atari 2600

Thats all I've got, except for my ubercomputer and every generation of PC going back to 1990 in the garage. I'm a hardcore old PC game fan myself, adventure games like Sierra and LucasArts used to make. Shooters like Wolf3d, Doom, Blake Stone, and everything past that, none of that Halo crap though, I do have some dignity.

...And no, before you think I'm some washed up old game junkie, check my age in my profile. I'm relatively young, but I have good taste.

Well my first video gaming experiences were on the PC (MS-DOS ftw!) with two very different games, namely Disney´s Lion King and DooM (as a child I always thought it was funny to punch the exploding barrels...).

Then came a NES, SNES...

Man, I hate that dog from Duck Hunt...

I'm only fourteen, but the first console I ever had was the NES, and I played it a lot. I still occasionally get a chance to play it, but I don't have it in my place of residence anymore. I was raised around Zork and still play MUDs every now and then. I play Rogue all the time still, and can't resist the chance to play an old DOS game.

I don't really fit in with gamers my age. Most people I know probably wouldn't know what a 'text-game' is. It's just unfathomable to them that a game isn't 32 or 64-bit 3d HD. A game that lacks images of any kind is apparently the stupidest idea since playing RPGs on a table with pencils and paper and stupid, obnoxious dice.

It's this way with music, too. I don't find many people my age around here who are into Black Sabbath or Pink Floyd.
