The Lord of the rings books were really boring as well, I far preferred the films, and the Hobbit for that matter.

The Beatles, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, and plenty other classic bands you just have to like or people will look at you like you just killed their dog or something.

OMG i also watched Blade Runner recently and yeah pretty much the same reaction from me. I think i went into it expecting some crazy shit to start happening (after all, it was made by the same director as Alien), but nothing really astounded me.

Also, most of Stanley Kubrick's films. I watched "Barry Lyndon" again the other day. 2 hours 57 minutes to really say nothing, but in a very picturesque way. Ooh, candles!

Yeah, Stanley Kubrick is a mixed bag of a man. Although I hate Barry Lyndon and Eyes Wide Shut I still consider Full Metal Jacket and A Clockwork Orange two of my favourite films.

The Shining, Most of Hitchcocks's films (especially the saboteur, snore fest.)

I found Okami quite boring... but i played it on the ps2 and the controller ruined most games on that platform for me like Killer7... SO hard to aim accuratley!!!

Game: Fallout New Vegas. It might not be as classic as Fallout 3 for instance, but after just having played Red Dead Redemption I was really underwhelmed. Hardcore mode did make up for it a bit though.

Book: The Tin Man of Oz. I won't spoil anything but the story didn't get me as much as The Wizard of Oz did.

Movie: Sin City. I really tried to love the movie, I really did. I tried watching it three times but it really couldn't capture me. I'm a big Robert Rodrigez fan, but this one really doesn't do it for me.

It strikes me that there are lot of people in this thread mistaking 'wasnt good' for 'didnt understand'. I know i know peronsal opinion and so on, but if a lot of people think somethings good, especially if they have experience in this field, and you dont, may be you should consider the possibility that you didnt quite get, over 'all-those-people-are-wrong-and-im-right'.

Case in point, Blade Runner dosent have an explosion every 10 minutes, (or a nude scene etc). This does not make it a boring film unless you are a cretin. That you didnt understand it/ thought it was too pretentious, thats just about ok, although you should be careful of calling something pretentious before youve tried really really hard to 'get' it first (eg American Beauty). If you didnt like because sci-fi isnt your thing, or you have a grudge against harrison ford because he once broke your portable duck alarm clock, then those are perfectly legitimate reasons for not wanting to watch it.

Game: Chrono Trigger - I played it as a kid when my Dad gave me a snes and a two milk crates full of games and along with more than a few games I just couldn't play it I still try every once and a while to play it all the way through but I get half-way and just can't do it. I find it bland and repetitive. Which is strange considering all I play are JRPGS, MMO's, WRPG's, and FPS's...

Book: Harry Potter - Read the first one as a kid, wanted nothing to do with the series. This might have to with having read books like Tales of the Black Company as a kid and Dragonriders of Pern along with A Song of Fire and Ice.

Movie: Forest Gump - I find the movie to be uninspiring as far as emotions and humor go, and the story is so flat I can barely stand to watch it all the way through.

TV Show: Doctor Who - I just never found it interesting. Also I find the Daleks to look quite silly.

Flipping Star Wars...the lot of 'em

Everything Star Wars was rubbish, I may not have been around for the first 3 films but honestly...what was the big deal, is it like Avatar? Did people only like the films for their special effects?

The story was awful, the characters were so 1 dimentional it was irritating and the only really interesting part was the whole incest "I love my sister" thing that wasn't really made a big deal out of.

Well, my take on it has always been that Star Wars makes a sci-fi world accessible to fans of traditional fantasy. Its the classic tale of good, evil, the mystic, sword fighting, all that good stuff in a big spanning universe. What makes it special is that it manages this transition beautifully. Not once while watching does one think "Am I watching...hobbits in space?" Thats why I always liked it anyway. I take my own fandom of the franchise as evidence of this. Mostly you couldn't get me to touch sci-fi with a 10 foot pole.

Hell, its why I've typically been in the minority when saying I like the prequels. Sure the characters are terrible, but its star wars, its throwing me back into that universe.

Movie: "Cindy & Donna" (1970). I bought this in a 6-DVD 70's pack at a Borders book store couple months back. I was expecting something like Grease with music, but got something a lot more interesting and awesome. More mature than I thought It'd be

Game: Heavenly Sword. I bought this a year ago when I heard how poorly it performed sales-wise but was told by friends that it wasn't appreciated. Stiff camera aside the art was amazing, combat, as well as the story. When I got to the chapter in which Nariko has to fire cannons to enemies storming the battle field, that SIXAXIS controller crap made my return the game.

Book: Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. I tried this right after I beat Bioshock and was excited to learn more about its themes. I've read War and Peace, and Les Miserables within 9 days so I have a tolerance for droning on. Ayn Rand took this to a whole new level and I made it to page 120 before I JUST COULDN'T GO ON.

I watched Scarface, and while it wasn't bad, per se, when it was over I had a sense of "What, that's it?" Nothing was ever really accomplished in that movie. I really expected... I don't know what. Something more than what I got.

Also, why Jon Steinbeck is considered to be a good author is beyond me. The only decent thing he has written was "Of Mice and Men". It was sad, and short. But The Grapes of Wrath was incredibly boring, and East of Eden was just horrible in every way. Every book is set in the exact same time and place, they bore me to death, and they try so hard to be "deep" and fail miserably.

Fuck Jon Steinbeck.

Half-life 2 - all episodes. It just felt so average and samey between episodes. Lose all weapons, magically find gravity gun, recollect same weapon set. Move somewhere cause you were told to. Have Alyx throw herself at you like a cheap whore over and over again.
