The lake is frozen. they're all four incredibly drunk old men drinking in a boat atop a frozen lake, once it tipped, they attempted to drive home but where far too drunk to do so.

There are two cents, both equal 35 cents. One is not a quarter, what are they?

One is a dime. The other is a quarter.

Three guys went to a hotel for a night. The manager charged them $30 for the room. They each paid $10. The bellman tok their luggage to the room. When he came back, the manager told him that he accidentally charged the men $5 too much and needed him to take them the $5. The bellman was upset that the men didn't tip him so he kept $2 for himself and gave the men $3. So each man ended up paying $9 for the room. 3 people x $9 = $27 but $27 + $2 tip = $29

Where's the extra dollar?

Later that night, two women came to the same hotel for a night. The manager charged them $30. Each woman paid $15 and the bellman took their lugage to their room. Again, the manager realised he charged too much and had the bellman take the $5 to the women. Once again upset at receiving no tip, the ballman kept $3 for himself and gave the women $2. So each woman ended up paying $14 for the room. 2 people x $14 = $28 but $28 + $3 tip = $31

There's the missing dollar.

$30 minus the $5 refund means they pay $25 for the room. They then give a $3 tip. So in total only spent $28, the $2 is given back to them.

depends on the base of the system you're working in. in binary, 1+1=10. On a 1 bit system, this would be represented as 1+1=0

anyhting higher than base 2 will represent the sum as 1+1=2

When is four minus four eight?

we work in a 3-bit computer system

4=100
-4=100 [two's complement]

0=000

due to an overflow, the sum is

1000 which is eight. Correct in three bits, incorrect with an additional. Additionally, it is incorrect because '4' is not a correct representation in three-bit two's complement.
