1: You're not supposed to bury the survivors.
2: The surgeon is his mother.

You are on a tv gameshow with three doors. Behind two doors are $1 each and behind the third door is $50000. The host asks you to pick a door. When you do, the host opens a door different from the one you picked to reveal $1. He then asks if you want to switch the door you picked. Do you?
yes, I don't know why but there is some math equation that explains it.
Is this question from the movie 21, because that is how I know what i answered.
It's from before 21, but you are right. If you stay with your original guess, you have a 1/3 chance of the 50000. If you change your pick, you have a %50 chance.
Wrong. We coincidentally saw this in philosophy class today, and I was one of 3 in the entire class that knew that I had to switch (a class with 150 students, give or take a few) :p

Let's say there's Door 1, 2, and 3, and behind Door 1, we have the 50k. Behind Door 2, it's Booby Prize A, and behind Door 3, it's Booby Prize B.
The host knows behind which the 50k are.

If you pick Door 1, the host can open up either other Door, because it does not matter, he'll be showing a Booby Prize. If you happen to switch; tough luck. Random chance will always be there.

It gets more interesting when you did not accidentally pick the right door in the first place.
Now, if you pick Door 2, the host will only be able to open Door 3, since opening Door 1 is not an option to him.
It's the same when you pick Door 3, where the host will be forced to open Door 2.

The odds here that you'll win the prize rise to 66% instead of 50% when you would've picked Door 1; Because with both Door 2 and Door 3, mathematically you are more certain where the 50k is than with the Door 1 option, where the host can freely open either door.

Isn't that a Jimmy Carr joke?

One walked on the moon, the other touches children.

A boy was at a carnival and went to a booth where a man said to the boy, "If I write your exact weight on this piece of paper then you have to give me $50, but if I cannot, I will pay you $50."

The boy looked around and saw no scale so he agrees, thinking no matter what the carny writes he'll just say he weighs more or less.

In the end the boy ended up paying the man $50. How did the man win the bet?
