I have a soft spot for a good bildungsroman. Also Manic Pixie Dream Girls. And finally those moments where a group of heroes gets stopped by a bad guy, one of them says "You guys go on ahead, I'll handle this." So cool.

Alot of things do do with samurai (the quick-draw duels, one man army fight scenes, when the blade slices cleanly though something ect.)

one liners
heroes don't look at explosions
the list goes on

When the bad guy gets in a final attack in any way!!!
oh, cliches....
well...
damn -.-

Well I don't too often think about them, I think 10 seconds before something happens, now this'll happen 10, 9, 8........3, 2, 1 and it happens.
But I don't really mind.

I like sci-fi stories in which humanity stumbles upon super-advanced technology from a long-dead alien race.
This. When you think about the chances of it, we it's one of the more realistic things that could happen. The Drake Equation gives us a few million sentient species in our galaxy alone. Some of them would have gone extinct, while tech would have survived.

And no, I do not feel bad for linking TvTropes. >:D

The Javelin Glitch from MW2. Really made you think about pulling that trigger, especially in hardcore.

Slow-motion fighting scenes that involve massive amount of power, such as in The Matrix.

Also, but I'm not sure if it's a cliche or just a sub genre:
Alternative reality because some important detail changed happened in the past. Example like, Axis won the WW2 or Soviet beat USA. What-if scenarios essentially.

On a sidenote, I can't wait for the movie Iron Sky!

Sunglasses. For either
* "I'm too badass etc. to have you look at me". (You don't count Diddy!)
* A dark secret hidden only by them.
* Even if it is bleeding obvious, they still rock as a scenery device.
* "Blind"
* Scott Summers
* Fixed stare, they have a destination and will not be stopped by anything or anyone until they get there. Must not take sunglasses off at all until they do so.

Few people can screw it up. *cough* Tommy Wiseau *cough*

The Kubrick stare. Just Google it.

zombies, space-marine archetypes and epic choirs.

overall, I can get into cliché as long as you actually do something with it, instead of keeping it conservative.

Me too, I'm the guy who says he likes downer endings, but really likes it when everything turns out fine in the end. The Hunger Games destroyed me...

A story where the hero(s) dies in the end. Its to be expected, in games like Reach, but it never stops me from loving the hell out of it that's for sure. This is also why I like Band of Brothers as well, because by the end the original cast is almost completely gone due to death or wounds or even trauma. Basically the Manly "Hardcore" movies. They are sad but you don't cry because *puffs out chest* YOUR A MAN! AMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCCCCC-

There are very few cliches I DON'T like.

I find that cliches come from things being good.

My favorite.....
Well, that has to be either an authoritarian bad guy, which always makes me feel awesome, or the "suiting up" montage. Any scene where the main character(s) load themselves down with 4 tons of badassery.

I have a thing for overly energetic and happy female characters. They may be simplistic, annoying, or out of place, but damnit, they smile, and I like smiles.

There are some great examples in that top 11 video. I think one of the reasons I like Tombstone so much is because they take all the old worn out clichees and breathe new life into them.

The video reminded me about another cliche, one that isn't mentioned but shown in the beginning. The clichee of the cool sound gearing up.
In action flicks people always gear up for something, for a bankrobbery, sky diving, alien hunting or terrorist killing. The sounds when people strap on their boots, insert their clips or fasten their webbing are completely unrealistic, but they are so cool.

The sound of loading a clip in a movie is a swoosh, and one just one very sharp click. Fastening a belt or other type of webbing sounds like someone rappeling from a building. When a missile launcher is loaded onto a truck it makes _one_ thump. It's almost like a symphony with the gear playing percussion in the most disciplined manner.
That's not how it sounds in real life. In reality all the sounds are an unorderly mess.

The old Schwarzenegger movie Commando has a few scenes where this happens in a very exaggerated way.

underdog stories/fights and when comic relief characters turn out to have been bad-ass fighters and do some ass kicking.
