Similar to most other people - I've stopped watching CN ages ago, but really regret what's happening to it now... In fact, what has been happening to it in recent years. My favourite, "Johnny Bravo", was pretty much killed ages ago (with a few post-mortem muscle spasms, but nothing special), and many, many other good shows I haven't seen for at least as long. Have been following Adult Swim for a while, but not really for anything aside from "Robot Chicken".

And now... Seems like it is really dead. I completely understand the comparison to MTV.

I basically turn to that channel solely for Adult Swim now.
Same here (except for the occasional showings of Tom and Jerry, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, and Teen Titans). They, as well as other networks that used to show cartoons, have continuously gone down the tubes.

EDIT: Add Courage the Cowardly Dog to the occasional showing list, as well as Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.

After going off Cartoon Network for a while, I saw their recent line-up, and I was digusted. There are no terrific shows like in the past, there are only crappy reality style VH1 crap-fests. I am depressed. Now Adult Swim is the only good stuff on the Network.
Even then, the good Adult Swim shows are dwindling. Especially considering they took off Futurama. For shame!

Johnny Bravo, Cow & Chicken, Dexter's Laboratory, Courage the Cowardly Dog... those were great days, especially when they did solid weeks of just one cartoon over the summers... That was great, why did they change what wasn't broken?

Almost all my childhood TV sessions were about Fox Kids and Cartoon Network.

First CN disappeared. Then Fox Kids got lame and replaced by a crappy station.

Then CN returned with... mediocre "new" shows. You all know which ones.

Good bye, Toonami, Cartoon Cartoons, Ed, Edd and Eddy, Johnny B, Two Stupid Dogs, The Powerpuff Girls... and a lot other great cartoons.

Oh, and Samurai Jack, and Batman Beyond, and Justice League... damn.

Irony of live action tv on CN:: CARTOON Network REAL. Anyone see it? Adult swim is like the only safe one. Even so, it's good shows dwindle. King of the Hill, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, Metalocalypse, Superjail, and Venture Bros. now share airtime with The PJs, Squidbillies, Aqua Teen Hunger Force (Yeah, I don't see why it's so good. I don't give a crap if you hate me now), and Home Movies.

I remember when CN didn't even mention kids. Now you can't watch the channel without seeing some kids performing unfunny skits or some other shit. It is not all bad. I like Ben 10, Total Drama, and Adult Swim. I remember the Jamie Kennedy show doing a joke about kids living alone on a survivor reality show. I guess CN took it seriously.

It's not my problem any more. I only watch CN when Adult Swim is on (and even that is only on rare occassions nowadays.) Maybe if this was going on when I was a kid I would care. But since I like to complain:

Kids are too impressionable. CN is taking advantage of this and trying to draw more viewers, and the only way to do that is to grasp interest. I've seen bits and pieces of the cartoons of today, and they flat out suck. CN is "dumbing down" their product in a way that it screws over loyal fans to cater to casual fans (same goes for you, WWE!) CN isn't able to capture as mich attention with the half-assed cartoons of today, so the only thing they can do is go "real". I thought it was bad when we had censored Ace Ventura on CN.

Whatever. I can't complain. It's like complaining about gas prices in the town you lived in 7 years ago and never visit any more.

I always thought that the new shows seemed retarded as they were simply because I had grown up, but deep down I knew what our generation had was much better. Good to hear others feel the same.

I started hating CN when they canceled Megas XLR, possibly the funniest cartoon centered around giant robots ever!

At least Boomerang still shows the good old cartoons. Although they are properly old, like Tom and Jerry. Still, it's good for nostalgia trips =)

TO all who read this, get your head out of your ass and get to work, Americans have completely failed in competing with the other cartoon creators of the world, your only original works in the last few decades were The incredibles, toy story, up!,and Avatar! You people defend the old tv shows like batman the animated series (which i refuse to call original because of the fact that it's based off the comic, Dexter's laboratory, Ed Edd and Eddy, Johnny Bravo, and Courage the cowardly dog just because of your nostalgia! Remember what yahtzee said guys! Nostalgia corrupts our vision, nostalgia doesnt let us see how truly horrible our show/videogame was in the old days! All of these shows fell through after the international cartoon boom of the 90's led by the japanese which brought us coherent storylines, characters we could actually relate to, and a few sex jokes for the lulz, they brought us metaphorical works which were considered masterpieces in their own rights such as Akira and Neon Genesis Evangelion! ITS YOUR FAULT IF YOUR SHOWS ARE GONE, all of you complain that they've killed off your favorite tv shows and characters, move on morons! The only coherent tv show cartoons in america have managed to pull out of their ass in the last few decades was Avatar and even that had to be designed in anime shonen style to compete in the market! Dont you all realize that we have no style? Japan's created their style, france has their style, canada has their style, china has their style (yes they do shows too -_-), look how far the market has gone in the last few years! Shows all around the world now do everything from scifi cartoons to cartoons about social commentary, cartoons about psychology, cartoons about storylines relating to human interactions and hell even real life stories! STill what the fuck do we have? We have mother effing spongebob and family guy doing stupid slap jokes and mocking american society today! Take a stand! As long as we continue to believe that cartoons are for children then we will always be considered laughing stocks just as Disney was considered a laughing stock for creating nothing but stupid movies which gave furries a hard on -_-, If we can not find a way to mature our shows and not just making them to keep the population stupid then how long will it be till every cartoon show in america tries to imitate ren and stimpy (the greatest adult social commentary american cartoon ever made?)

Fail, just a simple show trying to imitate the mecha craze that anime had left at the moment in america after gundam and Nge had appeared.

Cartoon Network died when SWAT Kats was cancelled because it was deemed too "aggressive".
Indeed, but it did not die, it was doomed to do so.
