America has a far higher number of reported rapes (per capita) than Japan - something like 18x last I checked. Those in glass houses shouldn't criticise other cultures raep games. Focus on solving the actual rapes, then go after the fictional ones.

To all the people who are complaining that CNN is late to the party needs to realise that the rest of world does not think about videogames constantly the way we all do. We are part of the video game culture. Judging other cultures based on their lack of knowledge about our culture is the very thing the OP is arguing against doing.

Nobody not in the "videogame wolrd' has any idea what rapelay is, so this story is worth telling on CNN even if it isnt breaking news to us.

That argument doesn't particularly fly with me. If you remember what happened when mass effect 1 came out and how the "sex scene" got talked about. causing plenty of controversy you would think that this game would have gotten attention at least when us gamers were throwing a fit on it not this late...

OT: honestly i find nothing wrong with it. if people living in japan want to play these games then let them play it.
