Loosing your crew in the end of Unreal 2.
I'd say that is the coldest moment I've experienced ever.
And it's more then just the scene finding it out, with good bye messege and all, the entire game you build up a relation with them. I grown to quite like them before the end of the game.

Adding to Saint's Row 2, the part where you trap Maero's girlfriend in the trunk is horrifying. They show it from her perspective and it was the first time in that game that I really felt terrible about what I'd done.
Saints Row 2 sucked in the aspect of not being able to choose your actions. You're a psycho by default. I'm not talking about Mass Effect style choices, but more like GTA IV ones.

Fair, but it made up for it in the "APESHIT INSANE" department.

Fucking up Matt's hand in Saints Row 2.

Burying Shogo alive? yeah, that's harsh, but he was another gangster, he chose to escalate the conflict, and he was a prize dick.
Executing Julius? Dude blew you up. He needed a bullet between the eyes.

Matt was just someone who knew Maero, he wasn't in on anything, he was the closest thing to an innocent bystander the storylines had.

(Never mind all those randoms you run over because it's too much effort to turn an they don't get out of the way fast enough, they don't have names so they're not important)
The thing that really hit me was what happened to Carlo. Poor bloke, being Fag Dragged would suck major ass.
SPOILERTAGS, PEOPLE.
Good thing the game is just so damn fun, or that probably would've ruined it for me. :x

Well, OT, what happened to Carlos was pretty.. depressing. And at the end of FEAR,
Harlan Wade releasing Alma, and getting brutally killed.

In Bioshock when Sander Cohen makes you work for his masterpiece and makes you hunt down his old pupils. One of them freezes you in a block of ice.

Hurr hurr hurr

Seriousness:
making Zaalbar kill Mission for you. Or pretty much the entire dark side ending in KotOR. But that was just unnecessarily cruel to me

I know I was halfway back to his room before the level ended and I was teleported to the ship, and I agree that game was what got me into squad based shooters and it still has some of the best AI out there even though it's an X-Box original.

Killing Zahkaev in MW1. Watching him murder your SAS buddies after youve just fought your way through waves of russians and siarmed nukes made me truly hate him. Killing him was amazing

Carlos' death in Saints Row 2 was bad, but the one that got me was...

in Mass Effect where Ashley shot Wrex. I was desperately trying to talk him down and finally thought I was getting through to him when Ashley blew his head off. I felt like screaming "what the fuck did you do that for!?!"
