Come on Escapist... Too Much?

Must have been a bug- I hope it was, anyway.
Don't get me wrong- bring on the fucking ads. I will fight for our right to use the majority of this site for free, and I get that that means advertisments. Before videos, craftily blocking video links, whatever. I just hope that this isn't some new thing that will detract from the viewing experience of an actual video.
I haven't had it happen, personally, so maybe it's nothing.

I was just watching the Kane and Lynch Zero Punctuation, with an advert video at the beginning. Not a problem, I can wait 20 seconds for the video.

Only problem was, half way through the video, ANOTHER 20 second advert appears over my video!

Err, Escapist? You're interrupting viewing now? What the...?

Has anyone else experienced this? Perhaps some ploy to get PC members?

It's so awesome how you immediately assume we're deliberately screwing with you to get you to join the Pub Club.

As far as I know, it's a tech issue. Let us know if it happens again. Sometimes, the internets, they break.

Never had it happen to me. I can tolerate the advertising because this site provides such great content -- there is really nothing else like this site out there. Certainly not for free! I am leaning towards a pub club membership just to help make the site last. Right now though my wife and I are looking to buy a second property a 22 hour drive from this one, so that she can further her career. I need to save my pennies for the flights/train rides/drives to see her.

I just wonder why the ads are so kiddie. Like the Slim Jim one. Makes me wonder about the demographics breakdown for site visitors. I don't mind ads, though. I just like to picture Don Draper making the Slim Jim ad pitch.

-shrugs- my Pub Club membership pays off again. Although, I hope that they don't do that. Even if I don't have to experience it myself, that's really annoying. I think that if they start doing that then they're going to lose viewers. People may put up with an ad at the start of a video, but an ad part way through a video is beyond annoying.

I know it sucks, and I'm sure that was never intended to happen, BUT, you have to realize that this site isn't a gift that the people of the Escapist slave away to give to you with no strings attached. Business is business, and you have to take what you can get.

I admit your post makes me sad, if the escapist was messing with my mind it would cool and make me feel better about my late night issue of always seeing something on the edge of the screen.

My comp has mess up ads before and they restarted just live with it, I mean I know the slimjim ad by heart. I just try to translate it into shakspearian during the ads.
