Comedians you just don't get

Carlos Mencia is a comedian? I just thought he was an arsehole. Ricky Gervais is brilliant in Extras and the Office but absolutely dies on stage doing standup. He's ok on his old radio show though, and Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington are hilarious. Seinfeld is dull, predictable and annoying but the series was ok.

Now for my Australian section. The Doug Anthony Allstars were the best until they split, pity that none of them are any good solo 'cept Paul McDermott can still sing. John Safran can be irritating, grating even but generally is awesome and Chris Lilley can also get on your nerves but he's a genius. The Chaser crew are easily the best our country has produced since the Allstars split.

Can anyone explain the unusually large amount of black comedians who show up on comedy central presents and all they do are jokes about the differences in whites and blacks?

Because theyre allowed be racist, whites arent. That simple.

By my standards of when racism is funny (it's ok, but only if it's funny) they shouldn't be allowed anywhere near it almost everytime.

I actually like Frank Caliendo. Not when he's imatating Madden for the thousandth time in one show, but when he does other celebrities. For example, his Robert De Niro and Chris Farley impressions are really funny.

I think is old standup was way better than his current show. back then the impersonations were just part of a larger routine. now it seems like thats all he does.

I also agree that there do seem to be an oddly large number of black comedians who have nothing but white/black jokes. I guess its an easy topic because people are so taboo about it and everyone is trying so hard to be PC.

Sarah Silverman and Jerry Seinfeld. They're just bad. And pretty much anyone who rips off Richard Pryor.

As for the good ones:
- Demitri Martin. Best by far.
- Jeff Dunham, if you can overlook his laughing at his own jokes.
- Dane Cook and Bill Engvall, but only the older stuff. The new stuff from those guys is just pathetic.
- Lewis Black, though this one's a matter of taste. I can fully understand why not everyone likes him.
- Carlos Mencia. Ignore the show, watch the stand-up. It's so much better than the show will ever be.

Carlos mencia is widely known for stealing other comedians material.

Besides all the other guys you already mentioned I just can't laugh at George Carlin's jokes , I smile but that's pretty much the best I get from him , I mean I'm a sceptic and most of the time he says something my mind already refuses to believe his ideeas because I already find something that isn't true...
On the other hand I find Bill Bailey , Billy Connoly , Michael Mcintyre absolutely hillarious

Alright, I know it it's been said a million times but God Damnit I just hate Dane Cook, the man is not funny. I probably wouldn't have hate him as much if it weren't for that stupid movie Employee of the Month.

Dane Cook and Larry the Cable Guy have never been that funny to me.

I hate Dane Cook, I don't see what anyone likes in him however I do like Larry the Cable guy but his stereotypes can get old I guess. I also only know maybe 1 good female comedian.

Caroline Rhea... not only do I not find her even remotely funny, but I'm completely amazed that she's able to find so much work in the entertainment industry. She can't act, she can't tell jokes, she can't relate to people well and she's hideous to look at. Why on Earth is she still on TV??? There's never a sniper around when you really need one.

Jerry Seinfeld - I just find his comedy boring.
Russel Peters - Man I just don't get what people find so funny about this guy. All of his jokes can be boiled down to "OTHER CULTURES ARE FUNNY! HURR HURR"
Dane Cook - His physicality can sometimes get a chuckle out of me, but his material isn't funny at all.
