Hello fellow escapists, I was looking for some comedic anime as I'm currently on an anime binge. So far I've finished: Bobobo, Panty and Stocking, Fooly Cooly, Abenobashi (even though it got crazy drama heavy toward the end, bleh), and TTGL. Currently I'm on Nerima Daikon Brothers with Dead Leaves after that.

What I'm looking for mainly is Random comedy but Slice-of-life comedies are fine(Really any type is fine, even Romantic comedies as long as it doesn't divulge into a Love Dodecahedron of crap).

Based of what you've seen go with Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei, a black comedy series that lampoons modern society by taking everything to the extreme.

Baka and Test:Summon the Beasts, just a really funny school comedy where your main character is a true blue idiot.

The 2012 adpatino of Jojo's Bizzare adventure can be a bit serious but it's mostly over the top hilarity. It is a damn ton of fun and stylish as hell.

Thanks, Baka and Test looks good and I always did want to get into JoJo's bizarre adventure but never followed through and forgot all about it. XD

In case you haven't looked it already, he posted a picture of Azumanga Daioh which is a slice-of-life anime about a bunch of quirky school-girls. I endorse this suggestion!

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, it follows Kafuka Fuura, a strange girl who tries to communicate with aliens, and the teacher who she's in love with, Itoshiki Nozomu, who teaches a class of personified psychosis. It's very, very dark. A small gir and main character is a frequent victim of pedohpile kidnapping, the main character herself is a psychotic Buddha wannabe, and another main character reguarly stabs, maims, and attempts to murder her teacher. It also got a spiritual successor called Bakemonogatari. Although I haven't seen it, I've heard it's about a girl whose weight was stolen by a witch, and she can thus confure office supplies from her skirt (Japan, FTW!).

And it's hilarious.

about 5 seasons of pure strangeness. Alternatively - and much more kid friendly:

Nichijou, which is about... pretty much the same thing, just more moe and probably stranger. Don't worry. I don't think anyone got it. No, wait, it is weirder. Much weirder. Too weird for words. Trying to describe the 4 or 5 main characters is like doing tongue-twisters when your mouth is stuffed full of bread.

Straight up comedies:
Baka to Test
Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?
Seitokai Yakuindomo

Shows which are really funny but aren't comedies:
Before Clannad gets sad as shit, it's really funny.
When Higurashi isn't being creepy as shit it's really funny.

Haganai (はがない), short for Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai (僕は友達が少ない, lit. "I Don't Have Many Friends")
It is damn near the most hillarious show I have ever seen.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuckkkkkkkkk! God damn gravity you piece of shit...! You don't care who it is as long as you can pull down on them, do you, you little *****!! Gravity, you piggy ***** slut! Holy fucking shit what a god damn whore you are...! Hah, you're Earth's greedy little slut, you damn ***** in heat! Fuck you universal gravitation, you're just Newtonian Mechanics' dirty little whore! You're just the crusty semen left over in that slutty apple's pussy after that son of a ***** Isaac fucked its rotten juices! Special theory of relativity, you impotent phimosis piece of shit! Einstein, you old limp dick fuck! What, got something to say!? Then move that tiny little twig of yours faster! Cum faster than the speed of light! A pig that can't fly through space-time is just a piece of shit that reeks of semen and can't even last 5 seconds in his wet dreams! Fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking UNIVERRRRRRRRRSSSEE!!"

I also recommend Ouran High School Host Club.

I third it the suggestion of Azumanga Daioh. It's a really wonderful anime with a nice variety of characters. It's pretty random, and pretty hillarious. It has some heart warming moments, too. Wonderful OST, too.

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is the funniest show on my list.
Beelzebub - Delinquent is raising the son of Satan. Is known as "The Baby on Board Brawler".
Arakawa Under the Bridge - Mostly random humor, I always skipped the philosophical ramblings at the beginning.
Binbougami ga! - Pretty funny, it can sometimes veer a bit on the dramatic side so beware.

Gintama:
I'd recommend watching episode 110 of Gintama. It's not the best episode, but it's a good introduction to the show's humor.

Ninja Nonsense (Japanese title: 2x2 Shinobuden). Given that lineup you listed, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Ostensibly about a young girl training to be a ninja, but more about random perverted humor and Norio Wakamoto (or Sean Schemmel, if you watch the dub) voicing a perverted yellow sphere who happens to be a ninja master.

Hmm, Muteki Kanban Musume (Invincible Poster Girl), Detroit Metal City and Kamen no Maid Guy come to mind as pure brainless fun. Dai Mahou Touge and Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan are OAVs which lampoon the magical girl genre. I also second the recommendation of Azumanga Daioh which is good, clean fun for just about everyone. The Shaft Surrealism Triology (Pani Poni Dash, Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei and Arakawa Under the Bridge) are excellent if you feel like referential humor. If you feel like some light intellectual fare with some romantic comedy (and politics) on the side I would suggest Maoyuu Maou X Yuusha. Of course there is always Gintama and Keroro Gunso for the classic comedy fan. If you like yours retro, you could always watch Takahashi Rumiko's earlier series like Ranma Nibunnoichi and Urusei Yatsura.
