Just curious to see if anyone here reads comics much, and what their favorites are. I've read a lot of Spider-Man and have experimented a bit with other Marvel super-heroes. I'm trying to get into DC now, but it's a bit harder then it was with something like Spidey. All I had to do there was get the Amazing Spider-Man 40th anniversary CD-ROM collection and read from the beginning. I learned a lot about Marvel just from that alone.

With DC, anything before Infinite Crisis is apparently non-canon these days, and even then it seems a lot of post-Crisis comics have been rendered non-canon also. I may be very wrong on this, but I get the impression DC is pretty bad with continuity errors. Regardless, I'm liking things so far. I checked out some of the Batman graphic novels and am reading through 20 year old Flash comics.

Like I said, what do you guys like?

I probably would if there were an actual comic book store around my way. But no, there is jack shit. The only comic book I got was from a news agents once, and it was The X-men.

I used to get comics every month, but now I just get the collected editions. It's much easier.

That being said, I like Spider-man, Batman, Iron Man and the Hulk.

I do like comics a lot, but for some reason, most of the people I talk to tell me manga don't count. Idiots.

There's not a whole lot of western publications that hold my interest (though I'm interested in giving Hellblazer a try). Closest I ever get are Linkara's videos.

I used to read quite a bit of Marvel when I was younger. Then after a long time of not reading anything I got into Terry Pratchett. Which lead to Neil Gaiman. Which lead to Sandman.

Sandman is simply amazing. Then after reading Sandman I went out to read V for Vendetta and The Watchmen, before the movie hype started. I'm glad I did since I still put the two higher than most literature I've read.

I mostly read non-superhero comics. The only three I'm getting into are Wasteland, Walking Dead, and Kill Audio. Other than that, I usually just read what's new on the singles shelves.

I don't go out of my way to read comics, but if one is highly recommended by my mates, I'll look into it. The only ones I've read recently were Watchmen and V for Vendetta.

I never actually read superhero comics as a child. I did read comics though. At a younger age, to improve my Polish reading abilities; my parents first got me these Disney comic magazines, then thick books full of Disney comics (All these comics only featured the Donald Duck characters, and Mickey Mouse Characters).

Random fact: Through these comics I found out that Donald Duck has a superhero alter-ego.

Have you read Lucifer? In some ways I prefer Lucifer to Sandman -- it's more contained and less sprawling, and I sort of completely love Mazikeen.

OP: I used to read a lot of comics, but House of M and Infinite Crisis sort of ruined everything for me. I still love my old issues of Young Justice and Generation X, though.

Somewhere in my loft I have Transformers (UK) Gen1 1-205. I hope they will be worth something to someone one day other than just nostalgia for me.

No, I haven't read that yet. I intend to at some point. Same with the Death stuff out there.

Depends on the writer, but deadpool had some pretty fantastic comics. Gail simone made it seriously shit for a while, but it's getting back on track thesed days (though it still has way too many cameos, which gets pretty annoying when it's in every other isssue.)
Oh, and the 'unstoppable' arc from astonishing x-men was really good too.

I would if there were any stores that reliably sold them nearby. I really, really wanted to get into the whole green lantern war thing and the darkest day stuff or whatever it was called but couldn't because you know, nowhere to get them. If only there were sites that had comics online :\ even if it was just an archive that you had to pay to access. As long as it let people read the old comics.
I have heard plans to start an iTunes-like service for comics, but I'm not sure whether any of the major publishers have jumped on board for it.
